I personally think that the Guest trapped the Neighbour because they had some sort of a "deal" because if you look closely the Neighbour has a beard, as if he hasn't shaved in a while.

The neighbor was one of those children and he's chasing like people because he's scared and hello neighbor 2 is just basically all his backstory if this is true then hello neighbor isn't a bad guy just scared of people bc of what happened to him when he was a kid

Think< you need to pay attention to the door every time you put candy in the bag and after the flash of light, in your panicking you missed a few things. for example, go back and watch the neighbor more closely, and you will see he is trying to escape that door.
