No you're right, Ulysees, but not in that kind of way. Yes, the neighbor was locked in the Raven's house, but only you, the player aka 'Guest', and the Neighbor, can only see him, no one else. Us taking the Crow Costume just makes the Neighbor's assumption that we trapped him, instead of the actual Raven.
I have a theory! In the 1st hello neighbour, the neighbour trapped his son in a safe room to keep anything from happening to him (watch dantdms ending video and check the comments for my last theory). In hello neighbour 2 this man in a bird costume is actually the neighbour and since his demons got the better of him, he takes on the personality of “the guest”. The player being his son is looking for him especially since he has gone missing. The costume in the attic was for if the neighbour wanted his son to join him. His choice will be in the sequel.
