    Getting to live one more day, I see.
    Great job! I'm still a newb when it comes to all the node-based stuff in general, but all of this is laid out nice and clear and easy to follow, and wow the results work great, definitely going to be giving it a try at some point!

    Beautiful! Eevee volumetrics are so fun. :D A little feedback though: for non-versed people I think that you should name nodes and sliders, things you move and manipulate, instead of or together with "you move this here and this and this". It's just a bit too vague, I will have to watch it multiple times to get it right, it happens a bit too fast. Other than that, thanks for sharing!

    much improved from a previous Q&D episode (the polar one). feelis a little slow paced for a Q&D thing and i feel that with a slightly better script the length if the video could be halved without actually taking away anything from the information. other than that this is excelent :D. eevee is still rather new and i predict that before 2.9 it will have had a major rework of it volumetrics. my biggest gripe with them is that they dont work with non cubic geometry as the effect is applied to the whole "bounding box" rather than the mesh volume. this makes certain efects rather tedious (try making a walk in aquarium with eevee volumetric lightshafts and you will understand... hint hint? ;) )
    edit: that is not to say the aquarium thing CANT be done, its just more tedious than it really need be

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  5 лет назад

      Thanks!!! I definitely could have worked a bit more on scripting. This one was off the cuff more than not. I could have done the lzy style but didn’t feel like dealing with the trolling, although now so many otters are doing it I could do it and do it well lol.
      I get the hint haha! I’ve been playing with that idea for a while and have something worked out for it 😀. EEVEE is awesome but yeah, the non cubic stuff takes a workaround that is more tedious than Cycles.
      Thanks again for your input. I value it.

    I'm very new to Blender and wondering how you learned this node manipulation...obviously it will be confusing for a newbie. Is it just trial and error with experience, or is their a link where you can learn some basics for using these formulas. Thanx in advance.

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  4 года назад +1

      It’s pretty much just trial and error. I’ve been building shading networks in Maya for a long time, and it transferred pretty well to Blender. I also used Lightwave and XSI for a long time before Maya, and the nodes in XSI were great, and Lightwave’s procedural shaders are awesome. As for learning from videos, CGMatter was producing some good videos that you can check out that will give you some basics. I’ve also found Ducky 3D and Sting Fairy have some great videos as well.
      I’d say basically start with the principled shader and start plugging some things in and seeing what they do when you start changing parameters. It builds from there. Does that help?

    I saw a tutorial, where the guy imported a rendering frame from the
    Smoke Quick Effects, type thing, as a 3D object, instead of rendering it as a video file,
    you know how sometimes you forget to render things as a video file, so it's a bunch
    of stills, so he had the library of frames and so you can import a single
    3D frame and use that as a cloud, but I can't find the tutorial.

      explosion render in 3D.
