      One way I learned to strum and sing (on ukulele because the guitars my father has are to large for me) was to sing the song a little then just strum and when I want to sing and strum I slow down my strumming and look at like lyrics with chords online and see when and what To play/sing certain things idk if this makes sense? But long story short just know the lyrics and know the chords and strumming and start of singing and playing slow and try to pick up the pace slowly and then try again slow and pick up the pace
      For ukulele I had to do this to play riptide because the strumming and rhythm was different than the vocal rhythm

      Both are so important because most famous songs use both but one is better for versatility and pull off's..The forming with index finger and middle fing,your pinky and ring finger depress both bottom strings(G,E)Strings)while other form your middle finger does what your index finger did in other manner to form.What I mean,the other form your middle finger is on A string and middle on Low E top string next fret and pinky all down on bottom string.Type in "Both way's to form G Major"... The versatile way your middle finger drops down to pull off (pop)D string for so many awesome songs...MUST learn to form both from start..(Tequila Sunrise,Like a Rock,Take it easy,so many)

      I've memorized each chord and practiced them one by one. Then i've practiced strumming alone. It's okay to pause during changing chords at first. Your fingers will get used to it due time. Then i've tried singing one sentence for the each chord slowly, like the song is in a slow motion. It really helps and it builds up your confidence when you achieve little things. Try working with your favourite songs too. I started learning just for the sake of learning to play a specific song haha. And there goes the saying, practice makes it better. (Not saying perfect since practice is eternal!)

    Awesome! So quick and easy. Exactly what I was looking for.
    For right now I just want to focus on learning open chords to the point that they’re automatic under my fingers, and I’m definitely getting the hang of it, but I decided I should learn a new song every week instead of just doing drills.
    And you taught it so quick. I was able to play through it right away. I already knew these chords, and the song isn’t very complicated to play.
    Thanks so much for this.

The slap actually gives me time to adjust my chord hand. I was a bit afraid of slapping my strings at first, since my guitar is prone to de-tune itself.

    Useful!
    I would suggest however that in addition to the chord notation you displayed (like Cmaj- x32010) you also add an actual diagram to it. Why? Because morons like me end up Googling the "code" thinking it's some kind of special reference number for the chord. So yeah... I did that...

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  9 лет назад +4

      ***** Sometimes I do feature diagrams that I have pre-photoshopped. It takes extra time, and can really slows down the upload speed from imovie. One thing I will point out, is that you took it as a learning opportunity and now you can use that skill in my future videos where I didn't have time for more polished annotations. Thanks for the advice, soon I hope to have better quality graphics on all my vids. -Rob
