    I also noticed the metal edges. We are also planning to install stone flush to the wall. I am wondering if there is any alternative to the metal edge without exposing the cut edges. I was hoping to have a natural rough stone finishing that still looks neat. Thank you!

      Some places have the corner pieces of tile where it looks like it’s wrapped around the corner of the fireplace without a seam

    On the edges I can see some kind of strip or banding maybe aluminum. Does it have some special name I like how it hides the edges.

      Yes it is a metal edging
      1/2 inch metal edging (schluter systems)
      Thanks for watching 👍

      @@AZIMBAYO1 Hey man i was looking to do this but my question is what if the stone is really thick. Do they make some type of edging to hide it? I see 1/2 is the largest. Especially since i will be putting cement board over there drywall i would need to hide it somehow. Thanks

    • @AZIMBAYO1
      @AZIMBAYO1  2 года назад

      I use 1/2 inch edge before.
      Maby u can use a wood molding and paint it the same color like the stone.
      Or some type of pencil tile to match the thickness and the color of the stone

      @@AZIMBAYO1 Great video, I believe the one you use in this video is 5/8 inch metal edging
      @Mark Thomas You may have to order online through Home Depot or Lowes. I've seen it go up to 1 3/16 inch from Schluter as well but I believe it is for floor transitions. You can still use it in your case if your stone is thicker than 5/8.

      Drywall was already on the wall. I didn't install or replace it. I just install the stack stone on the drywall

      @@AZIMBAYO1 I was wondering about the drywall thing too. I have a customer I demoed their old tile around their fireplace and I reinstalled 1/2”drywall because originally she wanted regular tile but now wants stacked stone. Do I need to remove the new drywall I installed and install 1/2” cement backer board?
      Or what if I installed 1/4”
      Backer board over the new drywall I already had installed? Or just leave the drywall and install the stacked stone over it? It’s a pretty small area.. it’s just basically around the firebox and only goes up about 4 feet.

    • @AZIMBAYO1
      @AZIMBAYO1  3 года назад +1

      You can install the stack stone if it is a small area.
      Just make shore you put a lot of screws in the drywall
      Thanks for watching 👍

      @@wyattsdad8561 if it’s an electric fireplace then drywall is ok. If it’s actual flame like gas or wood then use cement board
