I absolutely love this video Myles, God truly blessed your artistry 🙏🏻 The unforgettable Fergus and Colin - may they be rested in peace. Dark Days yet happy days ❤️❤️❤️
For S B. I too met Fergus years back on line. I worked for Matt Groening and when Once came out I told Matt this was a film he should see (since Matt started as a Music critic) Although I had known Matt for over twenty years this is the only time I ever mentioned or suggested a film. About a year later he invited me to come to the Record as they were doing a Simpsons show on Once. So I got to go see Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova do their couple of lines and then we had lunch. When Marketaa came back through town for a concert I had Matt sign a Simpsons book and went to the Hotel Cafe to give it to her. Then somehow I connected with fergus in Ireland. I had Matt sign a Simpsons book an sent it off to him. You'd have thought I'd sent a sack of Diamonds. He was so grateful. We began a text thing and as he got around to doing his album (this was when Glen was blowing air into ferg;s lungs so he could sing line by line) he sent me his phone number and asked me to start calling him.As it was the weekend I decided to wait and get to him ealry in th e week. I went online that tuesday and learned he had passed away. I bought one of his paintings and it hangs on my wall. Michael McCormack let me in to one of their few virtual screening so I got to see the documentary. It still has not come to the US.
thank you so much for sending this. it's beautiful. i just came across it in my inbox. my husband recently passed away and this was the perfect gift to open up this morning and listen to. i adore the movie once and i saw swell season at ACL a couple of years ago in austin, tx and then saw them the same weekend at the austin city limits recording. kimmi austin, tx
Thank you, for turning me on to some new music I wouldn't have known about. I hate 95% of the crap on the radio so this is refreshing. I usually have to rely on my musician son to find stuff for me that I like. I'm going to pour a glass of wine later today and settle back and listen to all of these songs. And to think I almost sent your message to my spam folder without opening it!
Lovely stuff Myles. Beautiful song and video. Well done! I went to school with Fergus many years ago. Great to see him still making gorgeous music. Thanks for sharing.
I love this song of Fergus'....heartfelt to say the least. Wonderful lyrics and tune and I love that backup voice in there, too. Everything GOOD here. Thank you.
O MY GOD!! I've got goose bumps listening to this song. mylesoreilly, thanks for leading me to this video. I can't believe this song is not in radios here in Canada or in U.S. or around the world. it makes me mad. I felt the emotion by listening and looking at his eyes and every movement of his face. God! why can't we have this song in our everyday sound. thanks to youtube people like me can have access to to this video and music.
very good tune, thanks for sharing, music is the vehicle for good emotions, I wouldn't know what to do without it. I have no words to say how much I appreciate this
thank you so much for the beautiful spam :D I'm glad i'm not the only one who found your channel through that message. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have ever known that there are so many other talented irish artists since they rarely get any voice in the states...
Beautiful video, great in black and white, excellent choice. I do believe I remember Fergus from Once. Wasn't he singing Gold with Glen at the party at the home? He has such a beautiful voice. This a very beautiful song.
Thanks for your email! You have a beautiful voice and this song goes right to the bottom of my Irish heart and soul. I'm planning a trip to Ireland this year or next and would love to see you in person.
One of the most honest and deeply personal performances, by any artist, in all of time. A truly beautiful piece of art. I emailed him a few years back, because his songs were going around in my head for days, and as he was the cause of it I thought he might like to know 😁so I simply told him that it was a wonderful torture. He replied with a smile and said that it was a great compliment, I was delighted with myself 😁 .. Also I learned to play Gold on guitar, for any novice players like myself out there, it’s an absolutely class tune to learn to play! - there’s one or two tutorials on here. Okidoke ✌️
Thank you Myles. You're right, the world is not hearing this beautiful music for reasons only God is aware of. Its difficult to find singers and bands like this, I actually discovered Glen Hansard and Marketa Inglova from a friend and Damien Rice from a video of someone whose heart was broken (the video didnt even credit him!) Anyway, keep spreading the word. Your doing a good thing.
What a fabulous voice, man, story. But I can't find him on iTunes, as someone suggested in earlier post. Any suggestions? Albums we can buy, on amazon? I don't even see Interference on Amazon.uk. Suggestions, anyone? thanks.
I wanted to visit Ireland for holidays this summer but I sort of postponed it due to this damn recession. But having heard your song I'm having second thoughts...
Love this song and Fergus is the perfect voice to sing it. He's the best! As is Camilla (?) his beautiful backup singer. GREAT voice there, too. thanks for posting.
Another beautiful song! Thanks for sharing Mylessoreilly. I thought spam was being sent to me. It was nicely worded. I thought I would check it out and give it a listen. Thanks a lot for the share :]
@androschizo I have to thank YOU and everyone else commenting here for your trust and patience. It's beautiful you are all so willing to receive, look and listen. Together all of you make one unstoppable force with the power to make sincere and truthful music heard. To see you all here in one place is breathtaking. Lets stay close to each other, subscribe if you haven't, much love, Myles.
‘Dark Days’ ( MacClancy, Roycroft, O'Farrell) I've lived through dark days, When I couldn't believe. I heard every kind word, As a trick to deceive. Trying to find a voice to wish. But ending up with a shout. If you're the one who tells the lie, You're the first to find out. Oh luck is hard to take Cause it takes you by surprise. And when it brings love in its arms, It’s harder to be wise. I fought against it tooth and nail, I’ve tried to kill it in the womb. And when my last weapon was broke, You took me to your room. So I’m drinking and smoking. I’m taking pills when I'm not ill. I’ve enjoyed the most of it And the truth is I do still. But there's nothing I'd do differently. There’s no way I'd change my life To get a decent cutting edge You’ve got to whet the knife. Thanks for the interest. All the best Fergus
Such a beautiful haunting and captivating song. I love his music, raw and unfiltered that leaves you with a visual imagery in your soul. I wish the world could have given him the recognition he deserved.

‘Dark Days’ ( MacClancy, Roycroft, O'Farrell)
I've lived through dark days,
When I couldn't believe.
I heard every kind word,
As a trick to deceive.
Trying to find a voice to wish.
But ending up with a shout.
If you're the one who tells the lie,
You're the first to find out.
Oh luck is hard to take
Cause it takes you by surprise.
And when it brings love in its arms,
It’s harder to be wise.
I fought against it tooth and nail,
I’ve tried to kill it in the womb.
And when my last weapon was broke,
You took me to your room.
So I’m drinking and smoking.
I’m taking pills when I'm not ill.
I’ve enjoyed the most of it
And the truth is I do still.
But there's nothing I'd do differently.
There’s no way I'd change my life
To get a decent cutting edge
You’ve got to whet the knife.
Thanks for the interest. All the best Fergus
+Fergus O'Farrell I just discovered this incomparably beautiful song because, earlier today, you went and bloody died. Dark days indeed. RIP.
