It’s all pretty normal behaviour I expect. It looks like she isn’t interested in him as she always looks away from him and then she eventually moves away from him. He is probably a little bored and sex is one thing he hopes for, but she is clearly not interested in that at this particular time, based on just these clips. He’s not aggressive about it but it appears that he is tenacious, but what do I really know? I wish we could ask an expert about this.

In gorillas, should two troops combine (eg, the silverback of one troop dies, so the females join another), there is a chance that the silverback will kill any offspring of the new females, but silverbacks have _also_ been known to adopt and raise babies that aren't theirs, so it depends on the individual and his personality. Silverbacks do not kill their own offspring. Not intentionally, anyway. There are numerous cases where a silverback will _accidentally_ injure or kill his young, particularly if he's a young and/or inexperienced father, and it happens often enough that _most_ females set boundaries that silverbacks are expected to respect, until the babies are older. Well she is just cautious. Animals have no laws... she knows she can end her life or life of that baby on a whim or by accident... he probably will not but why risk it.

Genki is so protective of Kintaro because of all her tragic past endeavours of almost becoming a mother then when she finally had Gentaro he was taken away from her ( as her milk wasnt enough for his survival) & that must have been such agony for her then having Kintaro & the zoo carers finding a better way of supplementing Kintaros nutrition with Genki's breast milk yet not taking him away from her She was terrified this time her baby would again taken from her but they never did The Zoo said she NEVER let Kintaro from her sight nor from her arms for 7 whole months from his birth She was utterly bonded with him & her love so strong, nothing could part them. Poor Momotaro only wants to protect wife Genki & baby Kintaro from very naughty Gentaro yet He loves his baby brother too. Everyone LOVES Kintaro! Momotaro dearly wants to sit with Genki & play with his new son but Genki will not risk a hair on her babys head. They would be doing pretty much the same in the wild of course with much more territory. They will find a place to eat, sit around and sleep then when the silverback says it's time to move on the whole group follows him to a new location.

I watch a lot of the gorilla families, n love them all, but Momotaro is my favorite silverback! I do wish they would give them more fruits and vegetables though, n get a bigger place for them Genki is a a little strange lol! She needs to allow father n son to bond. these are old videos so kintaro steals away now to be with dad! N I’m glad to see that !
