I couldn't agree more, why even entertain the idea of turning a legend that was "sleek and formidable" into just another SUV (that doesn't stand apart from all the other EV SUV's)
I have nothing against them, but a Capri they are not!
At least they could have killed the Cougar and left the Capri alone.

In your own commentary the Capri was "sleek". This is an electric brick. It's not related to the Capri in any way. Ford, you have clearly lost the plot.
That is not a Capri. You could have easily made something to rival a Tesla model 3 with a coupé or a 4 door coupé. But no. You've just slapped an anonymous body on an SUV platform and hope your marketing team can work wonders.
all cars today suck, in 15 years you might just wanna walk instead or take the bus.

If you took away the Ford badge and the word Capri, you'd be non-the-wiser of any relationship between the two vehicles. Not convinced. The Capri was such an iconic vehicle, surely more could have been done to encapsulate that?!?
There are only a few resemblances to the original, but they're too small for die-hard Capri owners and fans to recognise! WHAT'S THE POINT, FORD?!
This is hugely disappointing, just as the mach e was. Calling this a capri and the mach-e a mustang is just nonsense. Not to mention its built on a VW ID4 platform, which was way behind competition when it came out, yet alone today. 150kw charging speed cap is considered sluggish these days.
And than ford's surprised people are buying Kia and Hyundai, whose cars not just look awesome, but also way better tech wise.
Ford really, really need a new team of designers.

The east is overtaking the west rapidly in every aspect, mainly thanks to the limited greed and corruption when it comes to capitalistic practices.

Most of the time when Ford brings back an old name, the new version has nothing in common with the old version. Not the first time Ford has done this.
This is a disgrace. My first 2 cars were capris and I've owned a 2013 mustang GT since new. I'll never buy another Ford. I knew when the s550 came out it mark d the beginning of the end. Whoever approved this must be fired.

I can't express how disappointed I am. You didn't stop at reusing a completely unrelated name on a goddamn electric 5-door SUV based on the VW ID.5, but you also actively keep on trying to SOMEHOW connect it to a sleek, 2-door coupe and pushing the narrative, that "original Capri drivers" would want something like this.
Tarnishing your own legacy and ignoring loyal customers and fans is never a good idea. Same goes for the concept of an "electric SUV".

I love my Fords, and that’s not a Capri. My parents had a Capri S, and it annoys me that the iconic name is being used on an EV. Shame that EVs are still being pushed on us.

This is not a Capri! I had in my life as driver 4 Capris! one Mk I, two Mk II and one Mk III. I know from what I talk. A real Capri only may have 2 doors and ab big taildoor. The face should be designed like the old Capris. This new "Capri" is too anounymous .

When the news came through that ford were re-launching the Capri, I ran to my computer in a state of giddy excitement. When I saw it I dropped to my knees and sobbed.
That's a ford shitbox, not a Capri. The whole design team need to be fired... Along with the boss that actually approved it, then the teams that actually followed this through to production.. it's an eyesore 🤮

Wow just read some of the other posts on here after I posted mine😂😂 consensus is it's NOT a Capri and Ford should have called it something else big own goal from Ford in trying to capture the status of an old model with one that looks nothing like it, come of Ford stop reusing past model names, Puma, Mustang, Mustang Mach e and give us a new classic instead of trying to reinvent old ones that had their time and place in Ford history

Just another attempt to claw back lost customers that loved the old designs , Capri was a great car to drive in dry weather , fun and depending on which model it was quick too. I’d have preferred to see a full on 2.8i version or with a mustang engine. Sorry Ford but I won’t be swapping my 2.0TDI for this model, my car may not be as quick or as quiet and certainly not as “Green” but I love it and it’s a shame you joined the Eco Warriors that blame CO2 for everything.
