I just saw it over the weekend. I am a huge fan of Streisand but Lea's performance didn't leave me missing anything about Barbra's original. What an amazing talent, the voice, the comedic timing and the depth of feeling. Fabulous.
The best video of this number yet. During Lea's first week the show did over 1.6 million dollars in box office. It is doing around a million a week or more now, a far cry from what it had dropped to pre-Lea. One still has to wonder what the producers and artistic team were thinking about when Beanie was cast in the role. No knock on her because she's a wonderful actress but it was obvious, even in some of the rehearsal videos, that she didn't have the vocal chops to carry Jule Styne's score, one of the most difficult ever written for a Broadway show.
They made a huge mistake not casting Lea Michele from the start. They would have had better reviews and probably gotten her a Tony and maybe for the production. I keep hearing the production is far from great but this was her role to have. At least the understudy got great reviews and a chance to shine.
@@ohblobby Genuinely would like to know how a genuine critique of someone’s vocal performance is bringing someone down? The original commenter complimented Beanie as a good actress! But she genuinely did not have the vocal range for this character, and that’s not an insult, that’s just the reality.
@@ohblobby As Iamlia said it wasn't an insult. Funny Girl's score is considered to one of the most difficult in Broadway history. When the auditions for the show were being held a lot of big names applied but Jule Styne, the composer, had seen Barbara Streisand in her first show and badly wanted her. He deliberately wrote songs that he knew only she could handle and, of course, the rest is history. The problem with that is that while nobody is going be another Streisand, the score requires some very serious pipes to carry the show and Beanie, and it's no knock, just didn't have them. The primary fault for casting her lies with the producers but Beanie also bears some responsibility as well. There's an old saying "A wise man knows his own limitations" and Beanie should have had enough insight to realize that the show's score might be beyond her vocal abilities. No matter at this point. Lea is in, the show is doing booming box office and all is well.
I think it was the Washington Post review that wrote that Lea Michele just didn't bring the house down, she brought the whole block down. Unquestionably the best choice for Funny Girl. I have to get this this show at this time. Undoubtedly an historic event.
Oh my, historic event? You must not get out much. Don't think so. No one really cares in the grand scope of things. Now Barbra Streisand playing Fanny on Broadway for those 3 years 1964 to '67, WAS a historic event, but not this, no comparison, this production isn't even that good. All the critics panned it. Yes, Lea is holding her own and the critics like her taking over, but the rest of the issues with the production need fixing and unfortunately isn't happening, which is a shame.
@@jaym8094 I have sadly not been to a Broadway show but have seen approximately 50 touring shows and about as many concerts including the two living Beatles. I don't want to diminish Babra Streisand's monumental run as Fanny Brice, but there can be more than one historic event. That is why we can look up the Fall of Rome, the French Revolution and the manned landing on the moon as separate historical events and we are fortunate for that.

If the production loses money due to lack of audience it will close, can't afford to stay open. Plus it's rude to the people around them having to deal with some fool holding their cell phone sticking up during the show,; no one has any manners or decency anymore. Rude, inconsiderate world we live in.
@@jaym8094 No closeups of Lea Michele, though.
@@jaym8094 I do appreciate all that you are saying...however, I still am glad I was able to see this video. I am not able to travel to NYC to see this in person. So, I'll have to settle for what I can get.
@@jaym8094 are you stupid? We have a movie of Fanny Girl, we have 3 albums, do you really think people won't go watch the show live because they watched a bad botleg on RUclips? Lol
This is so amazing, loved her ever since glee!!!♥️😭 this is awesome to hear and see!
Aww they gave her a standing ovation just like in Glee
Saw it Opening Night. Thanks for posting this!
It’s not a rock concert people. Calm down.
For the shes, theys and gays, it is absolutely the equivalent of a rock concert Bobby.
@@hmmm9676 i agree, but i think bobby was trying to say that people should save their applause till the end, because even tho it is as exciting as a rock concert (if not more so) its shouldnt be treated like one in person.
@@hmmm9676 they can absolutely clap, but at least let the performer finish belting the last note...
@@hmmm9676 that doesn’t give any audience members the right to ruin the theatrical experience for those sitting around them. To tell you the truth, this video shouldn’t exist.
@jonathanmcvay4499 let's be real. A bunch of people wouldn't be theater fans without these types of vids
I want to see her performance! Please come back!
When a performance is that electrifying and a performer brings an audience to that kind of frenzy it is unstoppable. Look at Garland live at Carnegie hall album. They went nuts!!
You are exactly right!
Except for the part about about Judy being acknowledged as one of the greatest, most enduring entertainers of the 20th century,
Lea is just like her!🙄
They say “There is light at the end of the tunnel” well, Lea has reached the brightest spot of that light while her haters are still stuck in the middle. So happy for her 💙
well a lot of people hate her for good reason
@@thedspot7209 and millions of ppl love her for good reasons
@@jen9996 louder for the people in the back 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@@jen9996 - EXACTLY 🎯💯
@@jen9996 This is fantasticccc. I mean, it seems like she’s legitimately worked on herself and sincerely matured and learned to recognize her behavior, but ultimately it doesn’t make any difference. With celebrities, we hear about the best of a person or the worst of a person, but any of us can say that if we or someone we know received the same treatment, it doesn’t define who we are, or who we choose to be. Her job is to entertain us, and she’s good at it. Anything beyond that is none of our business.
You honestly had the most amazing view! Thank you so much for sharing this with us and posting it. If you have I am the greatest star, you should post that too.
Chills chills and chills !!!!
"Here I am," indeed! Now the show is what it was meant to be; she'd better stay in it a good long while (which is more than these clips will, I bet). I don't care if she's Lucretia Borgia off stage, she's delivering on stage.
🤣
Perfect comment.
Can I get an amen now I think all the stories about her lies, but even if they weren’t, I’m like you, I couldn’t give a flying thing she delivers on stage and that’s all that matters.
She’s a gem!!!! So perfect 😍
This is giving me glee flashbacks like rachel’s berry dream came true 💕
The pipes in this one!
you are better than most for this! true blessings coming your way!!!!
Truly incredible Lea Michele 🤯😱👏
Diva or not the talent is there. And the voice.
Absolutely fantastic !!!
My God that woman is so talented. I get goosebumps every single time. Mostly bc I know that her inner Lea is jumping up and down and doing backflips of joy. She was born to do this. She is a star. No matter what bullshite may be said (jealous haters) no one can deny her incredible talent. She took a show with a horribly cast lead who did not have the vocal range for the part and she shot it into the stratosphere. She’s a star. Undeniable. I am so happy for her. ❤
I saw her and she was so absolutely amazing
She is unbelievable
I hope one day they can do a special version in a week featuring her as Rachel berry style lol
goosebumps all over my gleek body
Incredible!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, if anyone is wondering, there is finally finally a full bootleg of Lee as funny girl up on RUclips.
theater eitquette should be explained before a show starts so everyone is reminded or new watchers would know.
this is INCREDIBLE
Glee fans are being summoned
I love your videos of this show! Can’t wait to see “I Am Woman, I Am Man” on here! Any and all Ramin songs would be appreciated 🤪
I'd love to hear her perform "I'd rather be blue".
Why are they hooting during the song? You can't hear her sing. It's as if they've paid so much for their ticket they want to be part of the show. She's great, let's hear her!
MICHELE, TU É ICONICA DEMAIS, O MUNDO É TEEEEEEEEEEEEU, OBRIGADO POR TUDO
Desde Barcelona (Spain), todo un placer escucharte Lea❤❤❤
Goosebumps
What is with the audience in broadway musicals yelling so much throughout a number you can barely enjoy it
does anyone else feel like the energy of the instrumentals isn’t matching the power of lea’s voice? 😭
MEU DEUS MICHELE EU TE AMO EU TE AMO EU TE AMOOOO KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK OBRIGADA DMS POR ISSO 🤍
Ela é d+
Great footage! I can’t wait to see her on stage in person later this month!
I love you so much for upload this!! 😍
This was on my Birthday.....so meaningful to me.
This quality is amazing! Do you have Who Are You Now with Lea and Ramin?
@@musicalbitz5922 I freaking love you 😘
this is such a good video! I cannot 😭
I hope whenever they make a film adoption of Funny Girl, I hope Lea Michele gets a chance to reprise her role. She’s literally Rachel Berry. She really is the greatest star 🌟. Cory would have been proud of her ❤
Guess what Mimi
So.....Streisand WON the oscar for the movie....why remake?
@@PS-DLMA Rita lea won an Oscar for west side story in the 60’s they remade it 2021 Ariana debose won an Oscar for it. They always remake stuff. A modern version of funny girl would be incredible
@@rambambobam1268 but its not that good a show.....the score is stunning but IMO the book is missing
@@PS-DLMA okay and however remakes it can fix it. The Broadway show I was it with beanie and she was good but it was kinda boring. With lea it felt different. Much more exciting and with her voice it was compelling.
This is what "You get what you deserve" actually means
I never had any doubt she could sing the part.
Lea pode ter TODOS os defeitos. Mas talento ela tem de sobra!
This is so amazing 😍😍❤️
“she makes me want to light myself on fire but boy can she sing”
-Puck
I’m convinced if they had opened the show with her she would have won the tony. No offence to Beeny feldstein
Absolutely. It’s not just the singing- her acting and comedic timing are on point as well.
I think Lea is at the perfect point in her life where she can really capture the two sides of Fanny we see in the show. She was that annoying kid with a lot of talent, now she’s a mother who has loved and lost.
Then you never saw Joaquina sing Let It Burn live
@@nicoletrudell2065 I didn’t really like the show but when Joaquina started singing that my whole body had chills and she brought tears to my eyes. She got a standing ovation for that. It was amazing, definitely deserved the Tony.
@@mshalo1822 Over Joaquina Kalukango or Sharon Clarke???? I seriously doubt it.
MICHELEEEEEEE DONA DO MUNDO
I really want her performance of I’m the greatest star
She loves this song
It’s just as good as when she sang it on glee
i got chills
A M A Z I N G ❤
Any chance of getting a full slime tutorial with lea?
I hate when I catch anyone around filming the show because the lights are bright. but thanks for doing this. lol
I hate it too, that's why I'm always very careful with the screen, the lights and who's next to me lol
Now I understand how annoying it is when people scream all the time during a performance. There should be a a campaign on Broadway telling people to applause at the end of the number.
Thanks for this.
Rachel Berry finally made it
Funny Girl now is making 1.6M a week after lea's joining.. last week only 0.1M behind wicked whose theater has way more seats.. 🎉🎉🎉 I checked the sales data before Lea man the show was dying... that is why when I was at theater and asked for another playbill the staff there told me seats are 100% sold out lol 😂
Update FG made 1.76M this week and top 4 show on Broadway now earned more than wicked.. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 with that small theater lol we won!
I love people complaining in the comments about the crowd reaction. I wish you could see the finale performance of wicked in Brazil in 2016, they would lose their minds with the crowd singing along
These people needs to learned audience etiquette. You clap and cheer after the performance not during. It's a rule followed whether you are watching an orchestra, an opera or a Broadway show.
Hi……do you have the full show? I would be happy to VENMO you for a copy……dying to see this
Rachel made it to Broadway’s Funny Girl after all
@michele vc ta me fazendo cruzar o país pra ir ver ela
