Michael Grant is correct. I understand that Lea’s performance was described as “legendary “. No. Barbra Streisand’s was legendary. From what I’ve seen of Lea’s performance she’s exceptionally good and makes seeing the show onstage again well worth it. However, it still pales in comparison to Barbra.
I completely agree with you Lee was born for this and he’s Barbara Finatticz need to get off her high horse is because quite frankly I’ve had it up to here.
This has been going on for the last few years. Screaming , singing along , burst of applause in the middle of the number. They should let perform and the audience hear and saving everything at the end of the show
Very few people can sing that song correctly without their voice burning out. The emotion overtakes them and the technical leaves the song. She has done a fabulous job with this song, note for note. Bravo.
The best video of this number yet. During Lea's first week the show did over 1.6 million dollars in box office. It is doing around a million a week or more now, a far cry from what it had dropped to pre-Lea. One still has to wonder what the producers and artistic team were thinking about when Beanie was cast in the role. No knock on her because she's a wonderful actress but it was obvious, even in some of the rehearsal videos, that she didn't have the vocal chops to carry Jule Styne's score, one of the most difficult ever written for a Broadway show.
They made a huge mistake not casting Lea Michele from the start. They would have had better reviews and probably gotten her a Tony and maybe for the production. I keep hearing the production is far from great but this was her role to have. At least the understudy got great reviews and a chance to shine.
@@ohblobby Genuinely would like to know how a genuine critique of someone’s vocal performance is bringing someone down? The original commenter complimented Beanie as a good actress! But she genuinely did not have the vocal range for this character, and that’s not an insult, that’s just the reality.
@@ohblobby As Iamlia said it wasn't an insult. Funny Girl's score is considered to one of the most difficult in Broadway history. When the auditions for the show were being held a lot of big names applied but Jule Styne, the composer, had seen Barbara Streisand in her first show and badly wanted her. He deliberately wrote songs that he knew only she could handle and, of course, the rest is history. The problem with that is that while nobody is going be another Streisand, the score requires some very serious pipes to carry the show and Beanie, and it's no knock, just didn't have them. The primary fault for casting her lies with the producers but Beanie also bears some responsibility as well. There's an old saying "A wise man knows his own limitations" and Beanie should have had enough insight to realize that the show's score might be beyond her vocal abilities. No matter at this point. Lea is in, the show is doing booming box office and all is well.

Lea is the kind of vocal powerhouse required for this role. Not to knock supporting cast but Funny Girl is really a one woman show and if that person isn’t exceptional vocally and charismatically it isn’t going to work. These are songs that someone must have the vocal ability to belt.
I completely agree with you Lee definitely drives the show, but unlike her predecessor, she also allows every single member of the supporting cast to really shine, and show what they can do.

@jaym8094 the "losing money due to recordings" reason has been disproven time and time again. Just like concerts, people would much rather see an art live than on the screen and guess what, theatre in general is expensive in nature. Not everyone has the money to drop and fly out to West End and Broadway much less buy a ticket to the show. In fact, so many of these productions would not be popular without bootlegs because they reach a far wider audience worldwide that entices them to learn the book and save up tickets to go see the show they enjoyed through a bootleg live.
My main reason for seeing this play was to see Lea. Saw it yesterday and I had chills listening to her voice. Just incredible. Next, she should be Elphaba! Then I'll see Wicked for the 4th time for sure.
I hadn't considered it but she'd be a strong choice for Elphaba. I think she's 36 now, so maybe that ship has sailed since the show has closed, the movies are in the can, and she certainly isn't going to do a road show.
FG is touring around here this month and part of me *really* wants to go see it again, but there’s truly no way any other Fanny beats Lea. So much power and talent in such a little body. She blows it out of the water. Forever glad I caught her right before it closed ❤
I like to think that her character in Rachel was very much like her. Ambitious, Narcissistic, Entitled, and Lacking Compassion. When the show ended and all the crap about her came to light I like to think it forced her to take a look in the mirror and come to terms with elements of herself that were holding her back. She had a family moved away from the spotlight and hopefully worked on herself. Then the stars aligned for her with a 2nd chance where she got to play this role. My hope is that she took all of those opportunities for growth and used it to churn out this performance. Because she has always been talented but what she lacked was humility. It truly is an amazing thing to see everything come full circle for her and watch her earn her 2nd chance in our eyes because everyone I have ever spoken to about this performance are still so in awe of her.
Hope for this all you want. The history of stage, TV, and movies are full of great talents that are people you would not want to befriend or even spend an hour with. It's just reality. Talent makes its own rules and talent can overwhelm everything else. Not a few of these stars know they "got it" and that's something many cannot unlearn.
Oh, I’m sure they were. You can tell that the leading main as hell you can hear the relief in his voice every time he opens his mouth to sing anything or say anything.
When a performance is that electrifying and a performer brings an audience to that kind of frenzy it is unstoppable. Look at Garland live at Carnegie hall album. They went nuts!!
You are exactly right! Except for the part about about Judy being acknowledged as one of the greatest, most enduring entertainers of the 20th century, Lea is just like her!🙄
As of this past weekend, I've now seen the show with Lea 4 times and counting. I have never seen a broadway show 4 times-the last was Les Miz 3 times. literally chills watching this. I have to see her in this if I can while she's still in it. Thank you for posting!
I honestly teared up at that final note! I really wish Lea had been Fanny from the very beginning, because she is so overdue for a Tony.
I'm not the biggest fan but as a gleek I have to admit I'm happy for Lea Michele she was made for this role
This looks like a pro shot ❤ you’re a wonderful human who ever made this
Cells are NOT supposed to be filming from the audience during the performances, if caught the person is removed from the theater. It being posted on you tube stops people from spending money and going, why should they when it's posted and can be watched right here? If the production loses money due to lack of audience it will close, can't afford to stay open. Plus it's rude to the people around them having to deal with some fool holding their cell phone sticking up during the show,; no one has any manners or decency anymore. Rude, inconsiderate world we live in.
Meh
@jaym8094 you think the show is going to lose money from a 2 and a half minute bootleg? Be fr.
This is incredible. Thanks for posting. Lea is perfect for this part. Her singing is just one big wow!!!!!
Alright… I’ll give it to her. This is a role she’s been prepping for before she even knew about a revival.
Saw it Opening Night. Thanks for posting this!
You sat in the right place to get a fantastic video pf this performance! Thank you so much for sharing your video...much appreciated! Many of us will never make it to NYC, so videos will have to do. Well done! She really fits this role!

@@jaym8094 No closeups of Lea Michele, though.
@@jaym8094 I do appreciate all that you are saying...however, I still am glad I was able to see this video. I am not able to travel to NYC to see this in person. So, I'll have to settle for what I can get.
@@jaym8094 are you stupid? We have a movie of Fanny Girl, we have 3 albums, do you really think people won't go watch the show live because they watched a bad botleg on RUclips? Lol
In fact, so many of these productions would not be popular without bootlegs because they reach a far wider audience worldwide that entices them to learn the book and save up tickets to go see the show they enjoyed through a bootleg live.
wow, she’s wonderful. of course.
She was born for that role.
I'm happy for her.
I want to see her performance! Please come back!
This is so amazing, loved her ever since glee!!!♥️😭 this is awesome to hear and see!
OMG she’s just so so perfect.
Watching this is seeing a dream come true.
OMG. I felt goosebumps watching that performance with a great ass view
I absolutely DESPISE this woman with everything in me but she’s talented asf
i will be forever grateful that i was able to experience her live she was truly amazing!!
The rest of the cast must have been SO relieved to have her step into this role and replace an actress who never should have been cast.
Except for the part about about Judy being acknowledged as one of the greatest, most enduring entertainers of the 20th century,
Lea is just like her!🙄
Aww they gave her a standing ovation just like in Glee
As of this past weekend, I've now seen the show with Lea 4 times and counting. I have never seen a broadway show 4 times-the last was Les Miz 3 times. Lea is a singing, acting phenomenon in this production and she revels in every. minute of the performance. I expect to see her at least twice more before the show closes in September
I saw Lea last night, and she was indeed amazing ⭐
Chills chills and chills !!!!
You honestly had the most amazing view! Thank you so much for sharing this with us and posting it. If you have I am the greatest star, you should post that too.
She’s a gem!!!! So perfect 😍
FUNNY GIRL is a show queen’s dream. Thats why they are all there hoopin’ and hollerin’.
Eu fiquei até emocionado. Que perfomance, que mulher. Artista demais brasil, Rachel Berry vive ❤⭐️
Omg! Can we stop with the cheering and applause… couldn’t even hear her.
She's so good I need this production to transfer to the uk with her in it please
Maybe but it's essentially the production that was done here a few years ago with Sheridan Smith.
@@geoffarcher6085 I loved that production Sheridan was amazing :)
She is amazing
The pipes in this one!
Omg just got home from this show! ❤️❤️ we all applauded at that first point and then she continued on to the end. Did people cheer or “whoop” inappropriately? No friggin idea, if they did I was so caught up in the show I didn’t notice. The show so fabulous!
you are better than most for this! true blessings coming your way!!!!
It’s not a rock concert people. Calm down.
For the shes, theys and gays, it is absolutely the equivalent of a rock concert Bobby.
@@hmmm9676 i agree, but i think bobby was trying to say that people should save their applause till the end, because even tho it is as exciting as a rock concert (if not more so) its shouldnt be treated like one in person.
@@hmmm9676 they can absolutely clap, but at least let the performer finish belting the last note...
@@hmmm9676 that doesn’t give any audience members the right to ruin the theatrical experience for those sitting around them. To tell you the truth, this video shouldn’t exist.
@jonathanmcvay4499 let's be real. A bunch of people wouldn't be theater fans without these types of vids
I saw her in person. She was fantastic!
Absolutely fantastic !!!
This is much better than her opening night.
Literally, She made the correct adjustments, sounds so much better
It's gotta take a while to adjust to that level of excitement....no matter what your level of professional. Incredible!!
she is smart.. making adjustment to sound better... she is enjoying her performance.
Didn’t she go out because of Covid the next day too? Sometimes your voice and stamina feel it before you feel sick
No it isn't. She changed the song.
Truly incredible Lea Michele 🤯😱👏
So happy I got to see this live
Incredible!!!!!!!!!!
I love how she is shorter than everyone else onstage
Hey, she may be petite but her voice sure isn't..! ( I'm 5'2 myself)
But she still towers over the entire cast and blows the roof off the building!
I was there when she got to yesterday’s show- she is tiny!
She is so tiny so cute. But so incredible
That’s exactly what I was thinking too.
This is giving me glee flashbacks like rachel’s berry dream came true 💕
"Here I am," indeed! Now the show is what it was meant to be; she'd better stay in it a good long while (which is more than these clips will, I bet). I don't care if she's Lucretia Borgia off stage, she's delivering on stage.
🤣
Perfect comment.
Can I get an amen now I think all the stories about her lies, but even if they weren’t, I’m like you, I couldn’t give a flying thing she delivers on stage and that’s all that matters.
My God that woman is so talented. I get goosebumps every single time. Mostly bc I know that her inner Lea is jumping up and down and doing backflips of joy. She was born to do this. She is a star. No matter what bullshite may be said (jealous haters) no one can deny her incredible talent. She took a show with a horribly cast lead who did not have the vocal range for the part and she shot it into the stratosphere. She’s a star. Undeniable. I am so happy for her. ❤
Great footage! I can’t wait to see her on stage in person later this month!
Diva or not the talent is there. And the voice.
this is INCREDIBLE
She is unbelievable
I saw her and she was so absolutely amazing
They say “There is light at the end of the tunnel” well, Lea has reached the brightest spot of that light while her haters are still stuck in the middle. So happy for her 💙
well a lot of people hate her for good reason
@@thedspot7209 and millions of ppl love her for good reasons
@@jen9996 louder for the people in the back 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@@jen9996 - EXACTLY 🎯💯
@@jen9996 This is fantasticccc. I mean, it seems like she’s legitimately worked on herself and sincerely matured and learned to recognize her behavior, but ultimately it doesn’t make any difference. With celebrities, we hear about the best of a person or the worst of a person, but any of us can say that if we or someone we know received the same treatment, it doesn’t define who we are, or who we choose to be. Her job is to entertain us, and she’s good at it. Anything beyond that is none of our business.
I love your videos of this show! Can’t wait to see “I Am Woman, I Am Man” on here! Any and all Ramin songs would be appreciated 🤪
I'd love to hear her perform "I'd rather be blue".
The incredible Lea Michele!
I love you so much for upload this!! 😍
does anyone else feel like the energy of the instrumentals isn’t matching the power of lea’s voice? 😭
I love her so much!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Shes such a good singer
Você vê que a pessoa é a rainha do bootleg quando grava bem até na Broadway.
a lenda né
MICHELE, TU É ICONICA DEMAIS, O MUNDO É TEEEEEEEEEEEEU, OBRIGADO POR TUDO
I’m not a Lea fan but I know how much this role meant to her (and Rachel Barry); love seeing ppl live their dreams!
this is such a good video! I cannot 😭
SHE'S THE BEST OF ALL THE BEST, LOVE U LEA MICHELE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Her technique is perfection 😮
Lea pode ter TODOS os defeitos. Mas talento ela tem de sobra!
As a performer I love big audience reactions! I know a lot of my fellow actors agree from first hand experience. I’m not saying audiences can’t overdo it, but, I would prefer loud over no reactions.
thank you for this, trying to learn the song and this is very helpful
This is so amazing 😍😍❤️
This quality is amazing! Do you have Who Are You Now with Lea and Ramin?
@@musicalbitz5922 I freaking love you 😘
If Hollywood one day makes a movie based on this, they MUST cast Lea as Fanny. Otherwise I will boycott them
They've made the movie already with Barbra Streisand the original Fanny in it lol
@@TheMrGothics Yes i know that. But i mean a new adaption of it. Like what they did with West Side Story
theater eitquette should be explained before a show starts so everyone is reminded or new watchers would know.
goosebumps all over my gleek body
