I'm sorry...it pains me to see chips flying everywhere, especially all over that beautiful machine. I think it may be for dramatic effect but, personally, I don't want those chips/dust all over everything. It's a wonderful promotional video but, my God, if I milled like that, my small shop would be a fucking mess after a tiny production run.

There are some significant changes in this generation, but I had to dig on your site to find them. I'd redo the video highlighting these changes, and what they do to improve the product.

Hi Tim, do you mind sharing some of the key takeaways you found? I was wondering the same thing (I have a v2 series d840)

Will there be a retro-fit kit to allow those who own the 840 v.2 change out the x-axis rail and add the new cable management and spindle holder? The problem I have with my 840 is that I have almost ZERO clearance over the bed with a nice 3/4” MDF spoil board and with the ATC even less. Does the new z-axis allow different spindles like aftermarket liquid cooled spindles and use a more robust holder mounted to the z-axis?
I bought a v2 last year and I haven’t gotten more than maybe about 20 hours out of it because the Z-axis will randomly drop off the shaft of the stepper motor, there’s no good detent for the set screw to go into. I’ve had similar issues with my x axis. I’ve used heavy duty thread lock, still it doesn’t work. I also have the MM-1000 DI, and after only a few hours it started to stutter and change spindle speeds. That same day the automatic start/stop ceased working altogether. I’ve done all I could to upgrade the machine. Performance kit, ATC kit, aluminum table. I have had nothing but frustration with the machine. I have broken this machine down and taken it apart more than I’ve ever used it. It always seems like every time I fix one thing another problem, usually 2, pop up and what’s worse is that it’s not as though I don’t know what I’m doing and this is the first CNC I’ve ever put together, thus why I bought the self-assemble kit. I’ve had it absolutely ruin pieces, and if it were my fault and I mismanaged the g-code and modeling I’d not be upset but I’m at my wits end with the machine. Your customer service is outstanding, the v2 had some design flaws that I thought really detracted from the machine and allowing it to go from decent to great. Erik is a good fellow and the US team and German team are top notch folks, I’ve just had nothing but troubles with my machine. Unfortunately I bought it to help my business and it sits on the table I built for it, causing me to loose money because I cannot even use it. Also, it would be nice to be able to switch between metric and imperial (especially for us here in the US market) with a simple G20/G21. Because I use VCarve Pro it’s not really a problem the post processor for the D.840 makes it seamless but I’d like to be able to use inches.

Nothing but downtime. Boards are faulty and we are waiting for 3rd board for our stepcraft. Tomas from stepcraft from Germany is still workign on the issue as the newreplacement board just wont power on. We have previuos board on hand and they do power on with same PSU. There is nothing worse than downtime waiting for parts and hours of troubleshooting.
