It's pretty amazing to hear how this theme has changed over the years. Definitely hits really different once VIII happened with the full orchestra, and I have to admit I really love Shimomura's version with all the beautiful piano work and i love the really stripped back version Soken did for XVI as well. Great video!

Final Fantasy 16: For adults only with a dark depressing mature story which shows the horrors of war and with a bittersweet ending. But regardless of their different stories, tones and age targets the main theme music is always stellar and a masterpiece of music.

I grew up on the FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX themes. The jump from FFVII to FFVIII, is quite significant, when Uematsu-sensei decided to go full orchestra, and that gave the FF Main Theme a lot of depth. My Personal favourite is FFVIII, the sequence ending theme is very seamless and you get to hear the orchestral arrangement for Eyes On Me. Such Perfection. 👌🏽
FF12 is quite like a "march" theme, fit for the game since it's about political struggles. Fastest main theme is probably FF16 "Dominance" trailer, where they call out all the names of Eikon, & my favourite between all of the theme.

There's the infinite hallway, and the plot past the Leviathan boss fight falls a part pretty quickly, especially towards the end where everything made no sense and it was clearly rushed. And that's even with the patches and DLC that improved things. And don't get me wrong, I love 15. It's a sold game with solid characters... but it has several noticeable issues if you really look at it.
FF15 best FF4 Classic FF16 Wonderful. However, the main theme of the most basic and widely known version of the orchestra is the theme of FF8. The theme of FF8 was also adopted at the Tokyo Olympics.
I wonder when Uematsu first composed it did he already have the full orchestra version in his head. I can't imagine how he felt finally hearing it for the first time after so many years.
FF4 is the best one he made and then the others got inspired by him but made it look a bit different to each moment, every composers also great too but Nobuo Uematsu just hit different.

In a cancelled DLC the game drastically would have changed with Lunafreya surviving as well as Noctis however that was put into a book and is considered non cannon but it’s an amazing read. Edit: I got the synopsis wrong and basically the game happens as is but Lunafreya basically wakes up from death and a new world is born. The book is called The Dawn Of The Future.
IV is the one that always hit the the hardest, because I remember it playing right before the final boss and motivated me to try to beat it :> Unfrotunetly had to return it before I could buve LOVED it.
I wished more composer can try to compose FF Main Theme. Imagine an FF version compose by Sawano Hiroyuki. I wished FF17 have Sawano as the guest composer 😂

Just I-XVI (please use XIV:1.0 and XIV:ARR versions, but no sequels like X-2, XIII-2, VII:R, or other XIV Expansions). Main Reason my bottom 3 FINAL FANTASY Instalments are XIII, X, and II. XIII also doesn't have FINAL FANTASY Prelude and FINAL FANTASY Victory Fanfare versions. Main Reason it is my bottom one. X is after because it is inexcusable for the 10th Instalment to not have the Main Theme of the Series. II I forgive it because it was the first sequel and it wasn't established yet that that would be the Series Main Theme, the same way I forgive I for not having Chocobos.
XIII does have the prelude, kinda. It's hidden in Sunleth Waterscape, but in a different key. and its tempo is way faster. btw XII doesn't have the FF victory fanfare, same with XV.
@@GiordanDiodato XIII does not have the FINAL FANTASY Prelude, it is not in that Song. Victory Fanfare definitely is in XII and XV, in XII when you beat a Boss, and on XV when you sleep in a Camp and Level up. Also, Prompto randomly singing it after normal battles.
7 also doesn't have this theme yet he's trying to make it seem like it does. I have beaten 7 a hundred million times and know everything about the game and this theme is definitely not in it without mods.

In Lightning Return there is trumpet version of main theme right in front of Yusnaan station... But I don't think it counts... I really hope the main theme play at the ending cutscene, where Lightning and friend stand around the crystal witnessing the newborn earth😢
This theme is not in ff7. I have been playing this game through entirely at least once a year since release and this theme is not in the game unless someone modded it in.

IX's version is my personal favorite. It's so emotional. XII is also pretty good and feel like a nationl anthem
It's not here, but Endwalker's version has become one of my favorite. That beat really makes it the most 'Coming home' feeling.

Favorites for Final Fantasy main themes start with Final Fantasy IV - IX, XV & XVI. I really ❤Final Fantasy XVI.
