✓ BUS HITS WOMAN AT BRIXTON ROUTE 3 - FULL VIDEO

- A woman stepped off the pavement without looking and was hit by my bus. I saw her and I steered to the right, but it was too late. She was fine and even though there were no marks and no blood, she insisted in requesting an ambulance, as it is an essential step in a legal claim against the bus company. People always try to claim some money from a bus company, it's a very common thing. I was testing my new GoPro camera and I had just turned it on... it must have been my lucky day!
The people at CentreCom (the central control and monitoring hub for Transport for London) have very often a very patronizing attitude and they always believe to be above everyone else. In this video you can clearly see an example of this: even though at the beginning of the radio call I clearly told them twice that I had hit a woman with the bus, at the end of the conversation she told me that I "should have said that in the first place".

that bus driver didn't do anything wrong of was that woman's fault for walking on the road
Agree
Absolutely
Indeed not - it looked like she was walking beside road then just made a quick turn out on the road without even looking.
Yeah, you can see how she steps down a bit and then she falls on the floor. As you say, she didn't bother looking before doing that and it's not the driver's job to look out for irresponsible people that dont understand that BUS LANES ARE FOR BUSES, AND PAVEMENTS FOR PEOPLE.
She probably did it on purpose for insurance money. The stupid cow.
More like woman hits bus than bus hit woman.
This is exactly what I thought.

😂🤣
TheLaughing Dragon I hope that's satire
All New same 😂
"It's an accident. You should have said that in the first place"?!?! Ffs he made it perfectly clear he'd hit her.
the controller of the bus company should of put the call thru straight away without the 20 questions better to be safe than sorry
Peter2571 that was not the Bus company controller; this was a TFL’s controller also known as centerCom...who deal with emergency...no very well from this video
Glad she wasn't seriously hurt, ambulance response time 8 mins, dickhead in control response time 3 days 13 hours and 48 minutes. She would be dead if it was an urgent issue.
She'd hit him
It clearly says "BUS LANE" on the road NOT "Silly fat woman lane".
could happen to anyone she was to blame but maybe she was zoned out and didnt think the bus was so close ive done it sometimes where ive been walking down the street in my own little world and snap out of it half way down the street and shocked how far ive walked whiles i was trapped in my own thoughts if that makes sense.
Cat in a box you horrible person anyone can make a mistake ant to put salt in the wounds you call her fat maybe you should look in the mirror
Cat in a box you should have your own comedy
They should make Silly Fat Woman Lanes, would stop loads of crashes for sure
Maybe he should have seen her there. Video shows she was walking on the bus path for a few seconds prior to the impact.
That looks more like "woman hits bus". Where was she going?
Max Binnewies She was trying to get to heaven.
Joris De Laat she’s going to hell mate
The bus driver seems like a nice man, hope he’s doing well in 2021
Yes, still alive... driving a boat now 👍👍👍
@Life Reportage good to hear
@@Lifereportage hey wait a minute..... Sailing 🤦👍
I myself had this happen but much much worse unfortunately
@@Lifereportage sir youre a good bus driver sorry to hear you're not driving buses any more all best for future
@@LifereportageHow about 2024
use those bus stops at Brixton station, daily. It's mayhem on the payments. On the whole the bus drivers do an amazing job and you, sir, are a credit to your profession.
+Michael Howe thank you!
Looks like she stepped off to go round obstruction on pavement bearing in mind she's a large lady.
As an crash investigator in the US...you did what a professional bus driver does sir. Thank You for your service and professionalism.
Brixton high street is MADNESS at peak times - I go through there every day I go out
Bus involved in accident lady still gets on and taps oyster card 😂
Been searching for this comment. Exactly
Well step into the road without looking this is what happens... Hope any attempted claim gets thrown out, it was her own fault.
+free-voice1 thank you.
Not heartless if it's fact...
how is it heartless?
New word for this kind of incident 'pedeathtrian'= someone who is a fucking jaywalking dumbass. I see this happen on a regular basis. Hope she is ok, but totally her fault
freesportube I call them zombies
Clearly big red vehicles are invisible. That's what you get when you walk in the bus lane when it's in use
On a serious note: you'd be surprised how true that is. Studies have show that red fire trucks in the US are twice as likely to be in a traffic accident than the yellow-green fire trucks. It turns out red vehicles do not register as danger in the human brain for some unknown reason.
@@RebeccaFarquharson We're not fitted with eyes in the back of our heads, electric buses are quiet in noisy neighbourhoods like that, and Tinkerbell sidestepped to avoid other pedestrians. As a result, her flying lessons were accelerated.
@@JelMainThat bus in the video is a diesel bus, to be exact its a early 2000s bus and that make of bus isnt quiet in any way..
the lady on radio clearly wasn't listening the poor bus driver. To the lady on the CentreCom get your didlo out of you and start listening to people...
Not your fault mate, good one having your own camera. I drive a coach and my own dashboard camera because i had non fault accident and luckily had my own camera, my manager tried to say it was my fault and threatened to sack me so i threatened him with legal action and said i had my own footage and immediately my manager and his cronies had to back track and leave me in peace. They still don't like the fact that i have a camera on board but guess what it films my driving and i can download the footage a lot quicker than what the coach company can
andres viveros Your face doesn't fit that's why.
andres viveros which camera do you have ? would love to buy
"Hello yes I've hit a woman with the bus and she is asking for an ambulance, over"
"OK what's actually wrong with her then?"
"I've hit her with the bus, over"
"Well that's an accident, you should have said that in the first place"
.......
"Yeah I told you twice already, you wasn't paying attention, was you painting your nails, over?"
Respect for being a london bus driver mate. I don't think I could do your job, so more power to ya!
Driver tells radio woman, early on, that he hit a woman with his bus. Then, later, the woman says..."oh you hit her, it's an accident - you should've said this in the first place". HE DID! You weren't listining
this whole thing was comedy, the fall, the carribean music in the back ground, how relaxed the guy was, the condescending woman on the comms
was thinking the same :D
There's a logic to it. She should be checked over for hidden injuries (whiplash, concussion) but presenting at the local NHS Urgent Care is a guaranteed to be an hour's wait for triage, and six hours after that for care. Ambulance patients get treated faster, to free the vehicle, and waits on a stretcher can be extended pending bed availability. The one time I went that route (they didn't think I'd make it, MPE causing a heart attack), my determined fight-back was much appreciated as many of my fellow patients weren't fighters.
I hold my hands up to you for doing this job. Much respect for you :)
Thank you on behalf of all the bus drivers in the UK, and in the whole wide world including myself.
Yeah you guys are right - what an idiot radio controller. I drove a bus for 30 years - and all the office staff and bosses thought we drivers were stupid. And we were ! For putting up with the crap we got from the so called experts !
That women on centre-comm really pissed me off used to be a driver and know just how difficult and rude centre-comm and controllers can be to drivers
btw u handled that incident well.
So she steps in front in front of a bus, and asks for money from the bus company.
MIND BLOWN
but you handled the situation well. good job
Driver is %100 blameless.
Having been in this situation when a tourist stepped out in front of my bus I certainly didn't get all these questions of off centrecom. I just told them my location and requested emergency services immediately. Unfortunately the gentleman later died from his injuries
Very late reply, that must have been extremely difficult for you. Hope you were able to move on.
The reality of CentreCom.. seem pretty terrible compared to the BBC's pov
It's her fault for walking on the road she should suck it up and know better next time
The bus didn't hit the woman it is the woman who hit the bus.
Should have said that in first place...
I’ve just joined Arriva. Should be in service in a couple weeks. This looks like a very stressful day, you handled it tremendously! Well done to you.....clearly was not your fault. I think I will get a GoPro lol
Driver, you done a bloody amazing job there, you stopped immediately and got out to check if she was alright, and you also kept ur temper with CentreCom. I've always wanted to be a bus driver down here in Australia, and i doubt it'll be that hectic down here than up there in the UK. Just wondering what are your top tips for being a bus driver?
doin em one at a time - all these people in london who just walk into the street without looking deserve to get a good clap like this one
1:20 is when the woman got hit. Thank me later SMILE MORE
Snitchell 712 I'm not going to wait until later...I'm going to thank you now, if you don't mind. 😉
TheSilentObserver thxs mate
Thanx
You just cant laugh at that
I am a Bus Driver is well for Arriva
. I feel so sorry for this lady although it was kinda her fault for not looking!
I have been on a bus during an accident once before. I could hear CentreCom as I was near the front of the bus. They're cocky as they want to have the final word, and think they are higher than anyone else. - In this video, the woman over CentreCom kept speaking so vaguely, that I'm not surprised you kept asking for a repeat of her message.
I personally do believe that the woman who waked into the road should be given full blame, as it's her responsibility to care for herself and her safety. I read through a few of the comments already posted on this video, and I have the following to say about Jaywalking:
Jay-walking should be a fine-able crime in the UK. All accident blames should be on the pedestrian.
I'm an Exeter driver and the amount of near misses I've had because someone has walked along the kerb edge at the bus stop!!
Hope the bus was ok. Typical insurance scammer.
Hope your ok yourself and didnt get fired over this
Bravo driver! Even tho it's not your fault, you saw her, turned right but still hit her. You were the first one to help her! And that bitch on CentreCom! Probably doing her nails and texting to her "BFF", and not listening.
Why does their radio not have an actual attachment so he can push to talk? That would be so much easier. I think he was very friendly. It was an accident. She stepped on the curb and the mirrors hit her.
Well, at least you did something about the situation, you totally a good and honest driver.
yeah
I'm glad that everything worked out for you, and especially that your camera was on. It's the nightmare of every driver, and especially professional bus drivers, who have to keep in check careless pedestrians, bikers, and other drivers. But really how stupid do you need to be to step on the road, with you back to the traffic?
I had the same problem on the route 3 in regents street someone walked off the pavement and hit him the company sacked me over it even knowing I had over 20 wittiness
+Dan Willis always have your own witness... your own cctv.
That's why you don't walk on the road
Sam
Some one didn't remember what their parents told them as a kid
OMG! was the bus okay!? There is no update on it. Please could you add it in the description as many people are probably wondering. Many thanks
Bus was fine, not a scratch!
Any updates on this incident in 2021? this bus companies simply sack drivers for small ancidents.
Sure, nobody got sacked, nobody got sued and nobody got to the hospital.
if the police took jay walking as seriously as they do in other countries this would not happen and the pedestrian would be getting a ticket. as for the idiot on the radio if anyone should be sacked it should be her if it was a more serious accident with her wasting time. i mean just get the ambulance and worry about the paperwork later.
+terry987654 jay walking is taken seriously only in the USA. In pretty much the rest of the world, even the term is totally unknown.
What is jay walking? Do you mean pedestrians?
terry987654 kkp
terry987654 ooelel2o1o1o1
Doughnut's Channel it means walking on the road with no zebra crossing pedestrian crossing traffic signals with crossings
With people crossing the road willy nilly then this is bound to happen.
You are such a excellent bus driver.London is so please to have you.
Woman gets hit by bus *groovey music played in background
"Stupid tubby bint steps out into a bus lane with expected consequences" ought have been the title!
Bus in middle of road after collision and people still attempting to get on🤣🤣
Why does it always have to be the worst controler at Centre com taking the emergency calls... If i that was me, i would ask to speak to someone that has sense
lol
usually if a bus hit someone it aways is an accident just the woman on the radio was not using her brain
"Well, we need an ambulance, this is an accident." "No shit, bitch...I've been trying to explain that to YOU for the last 10 minutes!"..
The sad thing is they will say the driver should have anticipated her going on the road as she was very close. Personally as a bus driver I would have covered the break or even pressed my horn at this moment but shit happens I guess.
By the time I saw her, I could barely turn the steering wheel slightly towards the right. There was nothing else I could safely do. The police agreed. That place is extremely crowded and there is only so much that a pair of human eyes can see.
@@Lifereportage I’m on ur side 100% but as a fellow bus driver we both know how those operations managers will throw u under the bus.. (no pun intended) 😅
I hate how bare people came and were just blocking the road watching and not doing anything useful
Are you allowed to record? I might do this as well, was thinking of making route learning videos for all the new people coming in
+Adam Webb you must have permission by your garage manager to record.
It’s like in Omsi 2 passengers walk into the road
All pedestrians, and cyclists too, ought to have some sort of insurance for road use, perhaps as some kind of tax. And in instances like this, when they act without due care and attention, or when they are reckless with their own health and safety as well as that of others, their insurance/tax should come into play and increase. This little action on the lady's part no doubt caused stress to the driver, disrupted the journey of the current and future intending passengers and other road users behind, and is, at her request, taking up emergency resources in order to potentially follow through with a claim, which is clearly her fault.
We do. National Insurance in the pay packet.
I also stepped on the edge of the curb when the when the bus was approaching, but In a split second I managed to look behind and dodge the mirror. If I didn't it would have been bad.
Seems to me that the CentreComm controller did not listen properly to the driver who'd told her exactly why he was making the Code Red call. The woman stepped off the kerb into the side of the bus as it was passing her. The driver did everything correctly.
I blame her for walking in the road, hope no charges were dropped, it was quite busy there and she thought I'll be fine if I walk in the bus lane, not
It is her fault she broke the law with it by Jay walking
In england Jay walking isn't illegal
Unfortently in the UK drivers are not protected by Jay walking laws in cities in most cases unless the pedestrian throws themself into a moving vehicle the driver will be blamed for it.
No blame on the bus driver whatsoever. The woman collided with the bus. I'd have told that woman on the intercom "you should have said that in the first place" to F off. The poor driver is shaken up.
Just get the damn fucking ambulance woman !!!
Bro these questions from the ambulance lady wtf?! Just bring the ambulance over damn it!!
How long ago was this? It must've been ages ago because route 3 has NRM's now
+Underground101 this was filmed in 2011.
I'm not a bus driver but I also drove small vans & light trucks in a trafficked and crowded town. The problem with pedestrians is their "vulnerability and unpredictability" by default in any accident, so a driver must to be careful twice. Good for you if you get the gopro video evidence that shows the careless walking and intrusion into the road of the woman.
Im not from London or where ever that is, but that control lady is a dog, normally if your head hurts after an accident, it can and will cause major problems as of internal bleeding which causes death
Are you allowed to call an ambulance with your own phone instead of doing it via CentreCom?
Yes, but not advised. Centrecom responds a lot quicker, as they already know who you are and where you are even before you start talking. They also have a fast connection with the emergency services, they are literary next door. If you call 999 they ask you all sort of questions, including your home address and it takes a lot longer to get help. Furthermore, when you call Centrecom, you automatically let you garage know that you made an emergency call and they send the nearest controller to take charge of the situation. The controller often gets there even before the police, to sort out the passengers and the bus. A hidden world.
How long did the emergency services take to arrive in this situation?
5 min
Christian Van Ristell your only allowed with Centrecomm
omg that operater Asking why she wants an ambulance... flippin hell man...let's hope she does not get a job working for emergency services... gawd help us all if she does!!
Why didn't you say back "I DID say that in the first place"?
+RWL2012 Because there is no point arguing with Centrecom, they always want to have the last word. Also that woman needed help and all I was aiming to was to get the situation dealt with quickly. Furthermore, that is a very busy road and a bus stuck in the middle like that causes quite some inconvenience, so it was in the interest of everyone to get done with it asap.
Life Reportage yeah true
Life Reportage cuz you didnt want to get in trouble simple....
Life Reportage
Good point. No point having an ego battle when someone is injured like this. He dealt with it calmly and professionally. The 'I said, you said' debate can be had later.
That women is clearly not looking at the road.
Well done to the bus driver for taking the right steps. Bus driver didn't do anything wrong cos I could see woman walking on the road as bus was approaching the bus stop
Jesus Christ that traffic office wench needs to stick clear of the role she's attempted to take on. He did say that it was an accident and that he'd hit her with his bus, however she's clearly more concerned on the reasons as to why the injured requested an ambulance (which isn't her business) The driver was excellent keeping his cool with such a Pratt!
Damn he on that bus tail😅
I hope you were able to use the GoPro in your defence.
typical pedestrian not looking and walking straight in front of the bus! Not the drivers fault
By saying the bus hit a woman, thats implying it's the bus drivers fault. From what I saw the woman stepped off the curb and hit the bus with her body.
The bus didn't even hit her that hard, she just fell down by purpose.
ha ha ha ha ha ha
do bus drivers play some sort of game of how close can i get to the bus in front without actually hitting it
Driver acted very professional, it’s a tough job and made worse by dozy pedestrians just walking out.
Centrecom do a great job
In slowmotion you see the woman felt herself and was not hit by the bus
Woman tries to make it look worse by requesting an ambulance so she can claim some compo. I bet she saw pound signs as soon as she was hit.
Did you hit her with your mirror?
Leo Tapp No, I hit her properly.
Ok. I feel sorry for her. At least it was not your fault.
Life Reportage I know what it's like . I'm a Sydney bus driver . I've knudged a couple of people with the bus before . 2 days ago , I nearly killed someone that backed out in front of me. I swerved onto the wrong side of the road luckily without crashing into anyone . When they drove last me , I sounded the horn for about 10 secs to let them know.
i drive buses in London, I am thinking of getting my own camera.
Don’t forget to get permission from your garage manager in writing, or you are in for lots of trouble.
Life Reportage How do you power your gopro on the bus for continuous recording? Power Bank?
If that was me getting hit by the bus I would be so embarrassed I'd probably just run away if I was capable.
Boy bus driver was so chilled out
The driver was not doing any speed at all, the pedestrian was walking along the kerb, lost her footing and fell toward the bus, the driver stopped immediately. He was aware of her fully as well as the shed load of hazards inches from his bus in all directions he stopped as soon as she became a danger he stopped. Driver did everything right.
"Bus driver deals with the 2 stupidest women in existence"
“you could have said that in the first place” HE DID
Nice driver at least he helped
That driver is very brave and very good and helpful
Clearly it was the woman's fault! as she didn't look!!! That's why the bus clipped her. Certainly NOT the bus drivers fault. He stopped the bus immediately & got out to check on her. ( Showing deep concern 😱).Some people are really STUPID when walking near the kerb ( of which is STUPID anyway!) This is what can happen if you lose your balance for a second. & fall shit towards the traffic. But, I think she step out into the busy road knowing dam well traffic was heavy. But, still was more interested in getting along ( maybe in a bit of a rush) rather than waiting a moment for it to be safe to continue on the pavement or watching the traffic first before stepping out. Some people have no sense at all when it comes to heavy traffic. Certainly this woman didn't. Maybe after this she'll be more road awareness next time.
She did look and just walked out..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪
How much compensation did she win after she sued?
I think the title should be “woman walks into moving bus”
if im honest, this looks like a setup for a compo claim. Only problem is, I know of an old bloke that got clapped by a wing mirror from a bus and neve recovered - had headaches and dizziness for the rest of his days (10 years).
Quite an attitude there: the woman clerly thinks she's entitled to do whatever she wants on the road, and then other people should pay for her mistakes. Logic!
I bet she damaged the bus, big time.
lol
Im so glad these communicators are not a thing around the country and only in and around London. So much easier to just use your damn phone and call the controller and actually hear what they say lol
Totally the woman's fault...poor guy, he handled it well xx
I can see the people gathering around the woman
Most people around her at once
@@thestigsbentcousinyeah and I’m glad that she’s alright imagine if the bus have failed to stop in time she would’ve been killed
