Yeah our passes opened up the 7th (a Wednesday) & it was actually not bad at all. So I imagine the other pass opening up before schools start would contribute
@@MelissaAndAlex I would pay the 65 dollar difference for a pleasant park experience like that. I'm glad I'm local so I can just bail whenever it's bad but I always feel so bad for the single day ticket buyer coming to the park one time in years
The disconcerting thing is so many attractions / rides closed for various reasons. If local passholders, as we are, it’s ok as one can go for 3, 5, 7 etc hours - but this must be a heavy hit for those who pay for the day(s).
Except there really isn't? Half the refurb calendar is stuff no one rides/goes to anyways and people coming from out of town will not care about. The only things that matter to out of towners that are down are tianas and space, and MAYBE the railroad
We are coming from Kentucky at the end of September thinking “they won’t close major rides during the holiday season”. Well on our second effort in coming, both Indiana Jones and Small World will be closed for the second time. Was really hoping to finally get to ride these.
It is crazy... we came from Canada, planned this trip months ahead of time, paid a huge amount of money for flights, hotel and had major rides shut down. I understand they need to do maintenance and so on, but they should be planning a whole lot better. No wonder the lines for Indy are so long, they have the same amount of tickets sold, but have 3 major rides not available as well as the LL and Genie plus people. It was NUTS!! Oh and the most frustrating part is no one dollar discounted, yet we missed major rides. I am really becoming jaded in the GREED of Disney.
I just can't imagine Disneyland without the water and the island and the Mark Twain and the canoes. They are a little bit of calmness and peace in the middle of the craziness of all the people and rides. Have such fond memories of the first time we took our children when they were just little and we spent so much time just exploring and having fun on the island. It just wouldn't be the same without them. Just recently discovered your videos and I'm really enjoying them. Thank you!
Thanks for saying hi to my mom at 43:50 😊 she found your videos on my RUclips auto play's algorithm, and now she discovered your channel 😂. What a wild day to travel with a family of 10.

FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!! Love when DAvid drops video while watching previous Freshbaked video. All but LOVE, and Joy for David and his family!!! Love his attitude and wonderlust over Disneyland!
David, thanks for advocating for Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and Mark Twain at Disneyland. I agree in begging Disney to keep these iconic park landmarks. If they ever, ever feel they need more guest usage, I beg them to use their creative firepower to ENHANCE these areas rather than give up on them. If they need to put a tunnel under the river to drive more visitation, that's fine. If they need to install a more linear/structured walk-through attraction like Adventureland Treehouse, fine. Maybe kids don't know how to enjoy unstructured exploration play and they -- and their parents -- need something more clear to "check off their attraction lists." Consider adding caves you can paddle the canoes through...that would drive up interest in that mode of river transit. There are ways to drive increased interest and usage while retaining the history and beauty!
We were there last Friday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday. Monday was BONKERS - I hadn't seen crowds like that in a long time. It got to 60 minutes for Pirates! I attribute it to the reasons other folks have already cited, but I was still a little surprised how busy it was. Nevertheless, we still focused on the magic of Disney and made the best of it. Hoped to see you freshbaked! Love your channel as always!
We have been trying and trying to see FreshBaked when we are in the parks. Only to come onto this video and see we literally walked RIGHT PASSED YOU 😂😂🤦🏼♀️. Forever fans! Thanks for all your amazing content.
Can't THANK you enough for all the tips and info. I havn't been at Disneyland in over 8 years and we went yesterday (Tuesday). We took advantage of Anaheim resident offer although we didn't know everyone in party has to be a resident (they check ID) so I had to upgrade to regular price and almost miss the rope drop. First ride was Resistance and got it done 30 minutes. Then did Multi pass to Smugglers. The entire day went really well with the lightening pass, the hardest one to book was Indiana Jones. We ate the fried chicken at Plaza then the tomato soup/grilled cheese at Jolly per your recommendations. It was an amazing day but yes it was so packed on a Tuesday by noon and boy was it sizzling HOT. The Horseshoe restaurant was such a relieve to hang out for a few minutes to cool down. The best surprise was the virtual queue to ride Haunted Mansion holiday as I thought this was closed. That made our day and now we want an Annual pass!
It is crazy... we came from Canada, planned this trip months ahead of time, paid a huge amount of money for flights, hotel and had major rides shut down.( remember we pay an extra 38 cents on the US Dollar) I understand they need to do maintenance and so on, but they should be planning a whole lot better. No wonder the lines for Indy are so long, they have the same amount of tickets sold, but have 3 major rides not available as well as the LL and Genie plus people. It was NUTS!! Oh and the most frustrating part is not one dollar discounted, yet we missed 3 major rides. We waited over 2 hours in California Adventure because they only had 2 our of 6 elevators were running. So, so frustrating. I am really becoming jaded in the GREED of Disney.
We were there on this Monday and were surprised that nearly all the Lightning Lane Multi Passes were gone by 6 and all out by 7. Still had a great day. Thank you for all the tips on making the visit magical. Keep up the great work.
Unfortunately, I made the poor decision to visit Disneyland on Monday (8/19). I chose this particular day because the forecasted crowd size was listed as 4/10 on another website. It was the most crowded day with the longest ride wait times that I have ever seen. At 2:00 PM, the wait times looked like this: Rise of the Resistance (90 min), Millennium Falcon (90 min); Matterhorn (75 min); Big Thunder (50 min); Star Tours (45 Min); Pirates (55 Min); Haunted Mansion (3.5 hour return time with virtual queue)
@@Coolbabka1994 Yeah, hopefully you'll have better luck. I would recommend arriving early, then taking an mid afternoon break, then returning to the park later. Try to skip the mid day madness.
Last Sunday 8/18 was so nice. Low crowds, low wait times. We even got in a backup VQ for HMH and made it on just after the second Fantasmic performance. After that we walked on to Indiana Jones for our last ride of the night.
A couple of observations. 1. While I think David is right(ish) about the reservation forcing people to go to the parks in the morning. I think he slightly missed the mark of why the parks are busier in the moring with less people being there in the afternoon. In my opinion it isn't because of the reservation system but rather Mother Nature. It is bloody hot after 2 - 3 and people hit the parks early and hard before the full heat of the day arrives before they leave in early afternoon. 2. New studies are being conducted in work place settings on unlimited PTO vs a set number of PTO. The findings are interesting and largely confirm that if people are forced to stick to a set number (regardless of the number) that they take those days off. Studies have found that people actually take less time off when unlimited PTO is offered. I believe there is a correlation between this and the reservation system. If you force people to think inside of a perceived box they often act and behave differently than they would if they have freedom to pick or act at thier discretion. Thanks for the videos David I love the 'State of' reports they are some of my favorite content that you put out! FRESH BAKED!
Too bad Lincoln is closed and the classic turn table theater has never regained utilization post carousel of progress Even the people moved gave relief
I definitely think it’s a combination of the ride closures and that it’s a Monday. Changing your report day from Friday to a Monday is probably a big difference in busyness as well.
It's always crowded at Disneyland now, regardless of the day! But luckily most of all of the So Cal schools will have already resumed by then, so that should at least help a bit?! 🤞🏻
Longer lines mainly due to the fact that large rides like Space Mt. and Splash Mt as well as Pooh and railroad are closed. Fewer attractions equal longer lines.
Saw you by Nemo submarine Monday! I was with my husband and friend and her kids. Their first Disney! They were so excited I saw a RUclipsr so I just sent them this video 😊 so fun to see you thanks for smiling and waving the kids thought that was so cool 😃🥂
We were there that day and yesterday and it was absolutely packed, especially at night for the shows! A lot of rides kept breaking down and at one point all of the Fantasyland rides were down. Not the best decision to pick Wednesday and Thursday of this week but thankfully we don’t live too far away so maybe next time it’ll be a little bit better. Still always happy to visit Disneyland ✨
We were at Disneyland and DCA last week, the same day as it was filmed. it was filled with people and it was too hot! And Lightning Lane is hard to get on to.
I was just there on MOnday too, 08/19/2024. You weren't kidding...the crowd was maddeningly alot. We thought it would be less since it was the first day of school. Boy, were we wrong. More than whatever I have seen in all the times i've been there. We brought our umbrellas. When we got to the entrance of the parking garage at 8:30am, it took 20 minutes to the parking pay booth and after parking another 20 minutes to go through the bag check. 40 minutes arrving at parking garage until stepping on foot at the disney park after checking in the main gate.
We know how much you love science. With that in mind, I think it would be very interesting if you would compare what you are finding at the parks with what the crowd calendars predict. I know I would be extremely interested in how accurate they are and or which one you think is the most accurate.
I don't think it maybe as busy at it looks. There are so many rides closed (train, monorail, Tianas, Pooh, Space mtn. Mr toads)you get funneled into waiting in longer lines and with people who have bought the LL. I don't plan on going back until a lot more of the rides are open.
The railroad and the monorail are absolutely not major attractions lmfao most casual guests skip both of them entirely. Also the only thing that makes a crowded park miserable is YOU and people like you
No Train, no Monorail, no Splash, no Space, limited Mansion... yeah the whole of the park is elevated numbers wise. Things need to open to ease the overall crowd pain.
I was there Aug 29th, 30th, September 1st and 2nd last summer. The 29th and 30th were awesome with light crowds. It was very busy Sept 1st and worse on Sept 2nd.
“A little frogger”.lolo . Love those vintage video game references. I ended up canceling a mid September visit at the end of discount ticket period because spirit changed my ticket from non stop to connecting but I was also worried as it got closer to end of the ticket period crowds would got crazy like end of winter discount ticket did last year. This video lets me know I made right choice.
Being able to book lighting lane days advance was shown to be counterproductive at Disney world and is so stupid when rides close frequently (causing lightning lane backup and overall increases waits
Same. I was a pass holder in the late 90s early 2000. It was busy but never so many rides shut down at once plus many were shut down on and off throughout the day.
I was there yesterday. Morning Crowd wasnt too bad. As always Rise of the Resistance started crowded but after a half hour It shrank dramatically. Overall parn Crowd didnt start to get bad until around lunch time. I usually like to leave around that time it a little later.
I have a Monday - Thursday Imagine key, but was able to make reservations tomorrow, Friday the 23rd. Made them a while ago and for the last few weeks reservations have been sold out for that day. I guess for the season opening day they made this allowance for us lower-key people!
I don't understand how they can adjust inventory for virtual q. If haunted Mansion can cycle a thousand guests an hour, they would just give out a thousand virtual cues per hour. Any less than that and you're running empty seats. Any more than that and you're just building a queue. But you can still only run 1,000 an hour
There's literally only a handful of rides down, the path is back open, haunted mansion is open, the only things closed are the railroad/monrail space, and critter country (which let's be real no one cares that much about the Winnie the pooh ride) no one is forcing you to go to disney right now, no one is forcing you to whine about it either. It seems like these comments always come from people who wouldn't go even if things were operating 100%
I know why You started doing state of Disneyland reports on Mondays because the park is more crowded. But there's just such a difference between days I wonder if during your state of Disneyland report you could do a flashback to the day before, a Sunday, the least crowded day in the park and just do a comparison of wait times when you do your sit down to look at the tip board? There's just such a difference in crowd levels, Sunday so low, Monday so high, and the rest of the days in between. Most of the time, of course there are exceptions. Which is why I would be interesting to hear the comparison side by side.
Would love to hear your thoughts on how the park will cope with jungle cruise and small world down, both of which I understand are reasonably big people eater rides. Also, new favorite saying, “son of a biscuit!”
Disney rep., if you are reading this comment, I second what David said. David, hope we never have to petition, but my keyboard is ready. Lol. I don't go on the Rivers on America often, but I enjoy it EVERY SINGLE TIME. Nature at Disney is unique. Universal doesn't have this kind of ambiance and mental wellness space. Do you know how happy and relaxed I am just enjoying the view?!? I get Epic Universe is making Disney nervous, but they need to be careful not to remove the heart of Disney chasing a lift.
Went yesterday and it was crowded but I think because the 95 degree heat the wait times were lower than advertised outside the rides! Definitely trying to cram more Disney in before going back to school next week :)
After a meeting at the Disney Hotel on 8/19, I thought I would go to the park (had a reservation). It was so busy and hot, I checked in, so I didn't get a strike and walked right back out.
Hey Fresh Baked, I have a question I’ve been wondering for some time. Is there any alternative space for a stand by queue for Pirates of the Caribbean? I believe there’s a small queue next to the show building (don’t remember ever using it personally). Is there any possibility they can extend that to keep the walk way clear? I know Haunted Mansion had more issues than just fixing stand by queue overflow, but they did decide to address that ultimately
As a former AP who went to the parks 30+ times a year to now going maybe 3 times a year. I'm glad Disney is doubling down on the reservation system. I used to love the spontaneity of going whenever I wanted. But since we don't frequent the parks that much anymore we actually have to plan our trips in advance. And the reservations help secure that. We can also get LL and we're still saving several thousands of dollars a year. Well that's not entirely true, Universal is now taking a lot of that money instead, lol.
Disneyland and I are about the same age and there was no Matterhorn on my first visit. Have been making regular visits for years and can say while the park has grown and changed vastly over the years, to me the biggest change is the way the Disney has become an almost indispensable part of many people's lives. Disneyland was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and open from 10 to 7 during non summer months way back in the day. On a visit a week before Thanksgiving in 1975, about an hour after the park opened I set sail on Pirates and was the only passenger. It was not really fun and kinda creepy to be honest. The question I asked myself how the attendance evolved from my 1975 experience to the present when the park is full most of the time. My first though was the population growth from past to the present might be a main contributor, but after looking at the numbers that seems unlikely. Decided as the world is swirling around the cosmic toilet bowl, people are seeking refuge under the berm more than ever for a mental break from the insanity of life outside the berm.
My Fiance and I watch every video you put out. We were hoping to see you on this day knowing you had to be there with how busy it was. At 22:24 we walk behind you 2 feet away and didn’t notice you at all 😢😂 22:24
If they really do add a premium multi pass, it really shouldn't be the extras that are already included over in FL. It should be either new things, or a way to skip the line without having a return time. Just book and go when you want to.
You should've went on the app at 07:00 am when they allow you to join the virtual queue for Haunted Mansion. That's what I did. I did it when I was driving over to Disney. I got number 45.
My wife suggested the crowds might represent a sort of last-hurrah-for-summer as kids start going back to school. I don't know how it is in SoCal but my kid heads back to school next week. In a busy year, you might not notice the pop, but with the summer crowds down, things like that might be noticeable this year.
Gonna be going in a month and hoping that maybe the monorail will reopen; quite sad Jungle Cruise will be closed and I won't be able to ride the railroad, as beignets and a mint julep paired with a ride around Disneyland is definitely one of my favorite things to do in the park lol.
Last vacations before school, discounted tickets, cheaper weekday single tickets.
yep the 3-day deal for weekdays is quite a good one
Monday was the first Tier 0 day since May. The ticket price difference between a ticket on Monday vs Sunday was $65! Thats why its so crazy busy.
That much of a discount
That is a factor.

when I see the Halloween decorations and the big Mickey Pumpkin up to me that is the Offical Halloween Holiday Season.. CHEERS.
When they got 4 major rides closed the park is miserable
You would expect that.
The railroad and the monorail are absolutely not major attractions lmfao most casual guests skip both of them entirely. Also the only thing that makes a crowded park miserable is YOU and people like you
I love the canoes - watching or paddling - I’ll do both. Yes, please do go on canoes.
I was there Saturday. It wasn’t close to busy. I got a Haunted Mansion virtual queue at 10:30an. We were on the ride by 1pm.
Good stuff. Thanks Fresh Baked!
Any updates on the re-opening of the Adventureland bathrooms??!
September 2nd is Labor Day. School is out and a lot of people have the day off work
I'm going on Friday 8/23. I'm fully expecting it to be completely nuts!!
Too many people, too hot, not a good day to be at Disneyland. Time for school to start and send kids back to school!
Went there yesterday - even with a slew of things closed, it is incredible how much stuff there is still to do at Disneyland
Will please tell is
Fresh baked happy Thursday I like when you make videos at Disneyland
Being able to book lighting lane days advance was shown to be counterproductive at Disney world and is so stupid when rides close frequently (causing lightning lane backup and overall increases waits
Its cause the tickets are cheap right now. We were there on Monday and it was the worst crowd congestion we ever seen
Same. I was a pass holder in the late 90s early 2000. It was busy but never so many rides shut down at once plus many were shut down on and off throughout the day.
@@LCLand OMG yes plus all the attractions that are closed made it 10x worse!!!
I rather pay more money for less people and shorter wait times
I was there yesterday. Morning Crowd wasnt too bad. As always Rise of the Resistance started crowded but after a half hour It shrank dramatically. Overall parn Crowd didnt start to get bad until around lunch time. I usually like to leave around that time it a little later.
Love your Muppets shirt. Haven’t had a chance to go to WDW, but I hope they keep Muppets 3D!
I remembered it was raining for a week at this time last year at Disneyland
This video is like a horror movie. Too crowded!
Wow thank you for sharing!
I have a Monday - Thursday Imagine key, but was able to make reservations tomorrow, Friday the 23rd. Made them a while ago and for the last few weeks reservations have been sold out for that day. I guess for the season opening day they made this allowance for us lower-key people!
26:03 Seconding this plea. Never, ever, ever, get rid of the island.
We were there mid-July. The employees say they had just over the fourth of July crowds. It was hot, busy, expensive, and rides kept breaking down.
The reservation system sucks! It needs to go. Thanks Fresh Baked. 💕
One reason it looks packed is the long list of closures. 😢
Yes, a truncated park. Similar to the five year wallcot. And away we goooo. Helllppp
@@slowazzd2165 I just made a simple comment of my opinion. Sorry it got you so wound up.
Disney! Please do not get rid of Rivers of America. We want it! Its essential and so much of what makes Disneyland a PARK!
They aren't
As I said before, someone is watching and learning to cover up any specific peeks. Roz is always watching. Always. 😅 I wish I was there.
Petitions are useless, just ask fans of Splash Mountain, Mr Toad and other things.
Ya, afternoon on busy days is better. Rolling up to the entrance right now at 3:30!
Went yesterday and it was crowded but I think because the 95 degree heat the wait times were lower than advertised outside the rides! Definitely trying to cram more Disney in before going back to school next week :)
Some on the app aren't accurate. It said 55mins waiting time but it only took 30 mins plus.
god i’m terrified to go on the 23rd!! i’m preparing myself now lol glad i have an inspire pass and i can just go for halloween treats 😅
Love your word David, .. "Pho Bridge" 😅😂
@30:15 how did you randomlycatch that moment?!? 😅
I’m going tonight when it gets cooler. It’s been so hot here in Anaheim 😅
What’s the name of of the other channel that you mentioned at the beginning?
Can’t wait going Sept 6 for race weekend!!!
How would yall describe the first week of sept? Im going on the fifth, so im hoping those crowds will be low
My wife suggested the crowds might represent a sort of last-hurrah-for-summer as kids start going back to school. I don't know how it is in SoCal but my kid heads back to school next week. In a busy year, you might not notice the pop, but with the summer crowds down, things like that might be noticeable this year.
Many SoCal schools went back last week and even some went back the week before!
I don’t associate Disney cinematic failures to Disneyland parks. People who say Disney is failing don’t understand the scope of Disney.
@50:29 "...for the average guest..." that's how it feels not having lightning Lane advantage. Like a lesser average guest.
Train holds around 300 and monorail around 120. 400+ more people on streets when they’re closed
Gonna be going in a month and hoping that maybe the monorail will reopen; quite sad Jungle Cruise will be closed and I won't be able to ride the railroad, as beignets and a mint julep paired with a ride around Disneyland is definitely one of my favorite things to do in the park lol.
I really appreciate the attention you’re bring to Tom Sawyer island Dave!
You can tell that Dave has been out of the corporate world for a long time if he can't remember the importance of September 2nd.
Not just the corporate world, any world for that matter! 🤣🤣🤣
