PART 1 - MEC KEYNOTE ADDRESS: MAPENANE SOS LAUNCH

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane launched Mapenane Maths, Science & ICT School of Specialisation with a Focus on Research and Innovation on Thursday, 17 August 2023at Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane.
Learners at Mapenane Maths, Science & ICT School of Specialisation have already demonstrated their prowess through various achievements. From robotics to entrepreneurship and attaining certifications in Rocketry, these learners have secured gold medals, embarked on cycling endeavours, and participated in events celebrating women's achievements. These opportunities are particularly impactful for learners from under privileged communities who might not otherwise have access to such experiences.
The school, situated in Ga-Rankuwa, serves as a beacon of empowerment for both learners and the community. Beyond academic excellence, the school provides vital library services to combat illiteracy and enhance digital literacy. The incorporation of 4IR technologies and ICT devices ensures that learners are equipped for the challenges of the modern world.
In a noteworthy initiative, learners conducted research on solid waste management and proposed innovative solutions to the community. By advocating for waste separation at the source and promoting recycling, the learners not only contribute to a cleaner environment but also empower the community to generate income from recyclable materials.
