  • PREX 2045 a EMD GP20 lettered for Elkhart and Western pulls the daily eastbound ND&W train to Napoleon Ohio. They cross over the Garrett Creek bridge and pass through downtown Napoleon. At the eastern side of town off Commerce Drive they stopped because PREX 105 was left on the main. The crew fired up the old GP9 and put her in the spur. This is a new track for transloading. Then 2045 continued on to the industries the railroad serves at the east end of the line.

    I am so happy to see a line being preserved for business and not just becoming another dotted line on a map. So cool, thanks Scott. Keep 'em coming.👍👍

      Agreed but what you see here is the Eastern leg of ND&W from Defiance, OH thru Jewel and Okolona and then on to Napoleon (where the line now ends) its always been in pretty good shape. The real mess is at the Western end of ND&W from Woodburn, IN thru Antwerp, OH and on to Cecil.

    A couple of ancient box cars: 2 Golden West Service SSW [St. Louis & Southwestern aka Cotton Belt.] I see a lot of those on another rail fan site out of Houston and the UP [former SP].

    Glad to see more progress. This line had been abandoned for decades, and to see it come back from the dead after all this time is great. I used to ride over those tracks as a kid in the 60s. Thought I'd never see it actually being used again... Good job, gives hope for the future of railroading.

    That first bridge just looks l like a model ESP with the wooden cribbing. Looks like they got the full service weed treatment judging by 10 ft. Yellow swath. Glad to see business picking up and getting more diversified. Very good variety of angles and always good to see a "sleeper" line

    Somehow this one likes to go. The bad bridges and tracks have something of deceleration of our fast-paced time. In addition, locomotives that actually belong in the museum, all this is only available on the ND &W. where is this new loading track? Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven

    Watching 105 being parked from the drone, it struck me how much like a model it is in the shot. The only give away was the swaying tree. Why was 105 left on the main line anyway? Good job it wasn't foggy! I've subbed because I like your style. 😀😀😀😀😀

    Was the red locomotive bought from the Gettysburg & Northern? Why anyone in the USA would want to name a town after Napoleon?

    More adventures from the Slowest Railroad in North America (tm) 😉
    Couldn't they have parked ol' 105 on the spur in the first place to save them some time?

      The ND&W just got a grant to replace 10 miles of mainline with new rail and all the ties replaced. It will essentially be ripped up front the ground up.

    • @shostetler
      @shostetler 3 года назад

      @@PereMarquette1223 new rail and ties aren't going to do squat if they don't have a good roadbed underneath the track structure for proper drainage!

    • @PereMarquette1223
      @PereMarquette1223 3 года назад +2

      @@shostetler why do you think they are ripping everything out and putting down new? Part of the project also entails putting down fresh dirt, ballast and working on drainage issues.

    • @shostetler
      @shostetler 3 года назад

      @@PereMarquette1223 well I look forward to seeing all the work! Glad to see it's going to finally happen. Hopefully the horrible track conditions will be a thing of the past. Faster track is easier to maintain. As they say, if you take care of everything under the rail, everything on top will take care of itself.
