  • A crash course for German musicians: percussionist and composer Bernhard Schimpelsberger asks: “Could I, as a Western musician who plays drums not tabla, learn this system?” In a year-long project, young musicians from Germany and India set out in search of common ground. Their ambitious aim: to create a productive dialog between traditional Indian and European classical music. The Campus Project, an annual joint undertaking by Deutsche Welle and Beethovenfest Bonn, has been bringing talented young musicians together for almost two decades. In 2018, the Western musical universe met the Indian one, beginning with a workshop of ten young music students from Germany and India in Mumbai. At the very end, composers Bernhard Schimpelsberger and Rakesh Chaurasia premiered “KISMET”, an Indian-German composition whose title means “faith”. Join us on this journey with an astonishing crescendo - and unforeseen musical adventures along the way.

edit 2 - Pt. Suresh Talwalkar!! he's such a big name in Indian classical music!! they're *so* lucky to have him.

    What is expansion in music.
It is nothing but changing the original style.
If it is changed it is not classical i.e traditional music.
If Indian music is changed the divinity is lost.
WESTERN MUSIC HAS NO GAMAKS OF DIFFERENT TYPES, ONCE BOTH MUSICS COMBINED , THE DEVINITY AND BEAUTY OF INDIAN MUSIC WHICH LIES IN PRODUCING GAMAKS. IS LOST.
CANT CHANGE OR DEGRADE OUR INDIAN MUSIC , IT IS ONLY IN INDIA WE HAVE TWO CLASSICAL MUSICS
NOT IN ANY PART OF THE WORLD.
IF gold is made inmpure by mixing other metals, its value comes down.
If value comes down the demand and interest also decreases.
INDIAN MUSIC AND WESTERN HAS ITS OWN VALUES. THERE IS NO NEED TO CHANGE.

You wouldn't be watching or commenting on RUclips videos if not for those impurities in Silicon that makes the semiconductor chip work its magic in the device you are using. Note that gold is also used in making of a chip. There is enough place for both classical and fusion to coexist without diminishing each other's value.
