I have used the Vortex as u no my self it will get better as iam sure it will i run a metaldetecting culb and see so mamy different metal detector s and thay all find some realy nice finds its nice to see all the different finds that thay find i use oney garrett but will say every metal-detectors out there are realy good ... as i have seen for my self ..but will say garrett Vortex will get better like most all new metal-detectors out have them few problems but i no garrett will salt them problems out
Great finds do not mean a detector is good....All detectors will detect metal...you swing one long enough in the right place you will make a good find. I test and compare different models head to head in the field and test to see how they stack up in the performance category. The Vortex imo ranks last in the modern detectors....way better options out there for less money too.... This whole promise that it will get better is a debacle...... You dont buy a car and hope that it gets better or anything else.... I know they all come with a glitch or a bug but the Vortex problems are on a whole different level than that.IMO Look at my testing videos.... Then ask yourself this question...What am I leaving behind? I just looked at your channel and see that you look like a very talented young Detectorist and upcoming RUclips star... Here is a piece of advice I will give you....Put the Garrett down and pickup a NOKTA, MINELAB, OR XPDEUS II, and start using one on your videos... WHY? It is clear the Garrett has no desire to keep up with the other brands and have fell so far behind they will never catch up IMO... You can either make the change now and grow with the leading brands or you will have to it later because Garrett cant keep going like this..IMO Good luck young man!
Thank you for always telling it like it is and being a straight shooter. I hope Garrett takes your advice and starts becoming a competitor in the hobby market.
I don't have any plans to buy a Vortex, but if I were in the market, more audio options would be a big one for me. Full tones and especially VCO "pitch" audio.
Nice background. I belive they know a lot of this at the factory. Bring up to much next unemployment line. Thanks for breaking it down and demonstrating. Best they have done except for bell tone is ace 250 and there pinpointers.
the XP2 with pitch tone in the diving mode with salt sensitivity all the way up and sensitivity dialed back a hair was pulling gold rings at 16 inches in sea water the manticore was the same and equinox right up there! i highly doubt the garrett will do that so i ordered one to see for myself! great videos keep us informed on the updates!
The really confusing part is the notch clearly takes groups of 5 per block. But mathematically there should only be 3 numbers per block. Something is goofy here!
Bottle caps are the nemesis of the beach hunter. You can’t even tell those bottle caps by tone. I would never take that machine to any of the beaches I hunt.
In the UK the Vortex is more expensive than the Deus 2 master, the Vortex is £629.95p "no headphones" it works out around £800 with the Z link headphones, the Deus 2 master can be bought on offer atm at £625, even adding the WSA11 and putting the WS6 on the stem still works out cheaper than the Vortex with the Z link headphones, no ones going to buy it even without any bugs, i am not surprised for one minuet the bugs and essential setting have been missed the so called testers are just youtubers with a big followings who know very little about how metal detectors work they just hype and promote.
@@calabashdiggeradventures Exactly, £760 for the Deus master plus WSA11 or £800 for the Vortex plus wireless headphones, no one in their right mind is going to buy the Vortex.
the 700 will have an advantage at depth over the others...The Legend will come with more goodies for the money...and the elite and triple are smoking deals..At the end of the day the 700 will have a small performance advantage..
Calabash/tells it right !! Like you say who is checking and testing these machines rush them out but not rush them out ? Because it took a long time to get them on the market but yet Garrett seems totally unprepared !!
that machine will cause Tinnitus if you use headphones ,guarantee its no joke . The last Garrett i had was an Ace 150 by contrast it had a very pleasant bell tone .
Hopefully all the metal detecting companies are watching these videos on the Vortex and learning from them. Let me add one more thing. I don't like the idea of paying to upgrade a metal detector I already own. I think the whole upgrades thing is all about additional money. Please just build the best detector you can and sell it to us. Keep it simple.
So this almost looks like Garrett had an outside company (probably outside the USA to save some bucks) design the unit and that company gave the operating system a clean bill of health. Garrett trusted them and it went into production. To think that Garrett did this all in house and let it go out like this is beyond belief. Is Vortex actually made in the USA?
Even when Garrettt fix the problems that we are seeing now, this detector is price quality a bad deal. They just priced themselves out of te market. Only Garrett fans will by this, no Nokta, Minelab or Deus user will even think about buying this detector.
No bottle cap reject in beach mode seems like a bad idea. I don't beach hunt but I hunt parks and schools that are littered with them. Before I got a manticore I was using a Xterra pro and sometimes you could tell a bottle cap sometimes you couldn't. When signals got scarce and you were digging iffy signals you'd dig bottle caps galore but with the manticore even iffy signals are never bottle caps. I don't know that I've dug more than one or two maybe since I got mine in May. So for the price range I think Garrett is lagging behind in my opinion.
Does the Vortex have a light on the back of the machine that illuminates the coil for night time hunting? I’m pretty sure the Nokta Triple Score and the Minelab X-Terra Elite have this feature.
Does the Vortex have VCO audio when pinpointing? Even my old White’s XLT has that. I’m pretty sure the Nokta Triple Score and the Minelab X-Terra Elite have this feature as well. It’s called pitch tone.
Im just gonna stay away from garrett. I swung the at max for 5 yrs, its a good first detector, easy navigation. The new garrett imo is slightly below the bar for the cost, and for a 600 plus dollar unit… nokta has. A better detector for alot cheaper.
@calabashdiggeradventures most off us in Europa do not search on the beach.we do not looking for euro s or small rings etc. And you are only testing in your garden or Beach. And stop the bullshit about id s .u dont need them .just listen to your machine. Id s are for beginners
@calabashdiggeradventures no i dont say that .u test only at your test Garden and beach and thats for the most of us not the real world.and what about the tripple score ?? That thing isnt ready as wel its a crap machine from China . More and more people in europe put away the tripple score because it isnt as good as the RUclipsrs are telling us .
So you came here to try and discredit me....I see your one of those people...Start your own channel and show us how to do it the correct way.....then...
Garrett needs to stop using "detecting influencers" pimping their Vortex. I'm not going to mention names, but Beau, Brandon, Dawn, Steve, they have that Karine Jean-Pierre credibility on this machine. Hey Garrett, use some actual neutral testing experts instead of "What you want to hear testers." Lastly, you own all the White's patents, why not take aspects of the XLT, DFX, V3i and use them in a new digital machine, or did you just buy them to keep Minelab or Nokta from having them, thus killing opportunities for hobbyists?

in my test yesterday with a ground balance of 88, Pinpoint reacted to the ground mineral and I barely heard the target through the ground noise.

Beach doesn't show all 3 bars? Our beaches up here are loaded with iron, bottle caps ETC ETC.
Yeah, iron can be tough, especially on beaches. No it doesn't...

Since when does a nickel read as high as 55 on a 0 to 100 VDI scale. Even silver war nickels are not that high.
Good video CD !
