Yes, you are right, but even though we complain, they continue making the music too loud. A workaround is to turn on the captions in each individual video. Those captions go by phonetic sounds of the words, so you'll see some interesting typos, but it's better than nothing. .

So I am not the only one... I wonder if they can go back make the necessary adjustments and repost it. It ruins a very interesting documentary and it's a same because it's a very important story that must be told for history's sake.
This is a very interesting documentary, but in many parts of it the soundtrack has been mixed in such a way that the 'background' music completely drowns out the voice of the commentator, and what he is saying cannot be understood. I suggest that the conductors of this channel withdraw the documentary temporarily and re-edit the soundtrack so as to reduce the volume of the background music in the relevant places. I'm assuming that this would be possible, though I personally have had very little experience of audio editing.
All these documentaries have the same problem. It is ubiquitous on RUclips, and no one ever does anything about it. I cannot believe you can't control the volume and the ratio of narration to "background music" which is overdramatic, too dark, and just not even necessary at all.
@@ferociousgumby This technique, albeit an unpleasant one, is usually employed in an effort to avoid copyright infringement problems. It is apparently effective to that end, hence the frequency with which it is encountered on RUclips.
I kind of agree that he probably saved some art. I don't have to think hard about how I would have behaved under those circumstances but ,if possible, it should be returned to the rightful owners. It's an amazing story in art history that should be explored more fully. Well done. Thanks ...
Incredibly interesting documentary. What a saga! We are so lucky that these treasures have not been destroyed. Even if their original proxy-curator wasn’t pure in his motives, the net result is that these still exist today. Thank you for telling the story!
This is the most fascinating era of reconciliation - sorting out the stolen and displaced art that is currently being bequeathed to the next generation illegally. Hopefully ethics will prevail this time 🤞
The intersection of arms dealing and art collecting is probably a fascinating area of study. If anyone has links to articles on the subject please post them in my reply box.
I think what made Cornelius Gurlitt very suspicious indeed was the lack of social insurance. Austria and Germany do have social health insurance, everyone has. Not to have any is extremely weird.
Unbelievable that the restitution bodies cannot act more promptly and efficiently in tracing rightful owners. The guy at end is wrong saying that buyers at auctions should ask more questions - it is the auction house that needs to do this due diligence work and partly justify their high fees.
you are totally correct.......an art dealer has to pass a 'free and clear'' title to the new owner, with no liens or encumbrance Castro stole works of art from private collections, in cuba and found dubious ways of selling them and collecting the cash from auction houses in the usa europe and japan........
26:22 That is a very good point. I doubt that the very first time Cornelius sold a painting was when he was a senior citizen. He must have sold painting throughout his life, it was just the first time the police thought to fully search out names like his fathers. Is there any art that was at the Degenerate Art show, that was not in the last Cornelius art show? Were any of those works of art get sold at auction in the years between 1956 and 2012.
Quite a misleading title, should be called "Cornelius Gurlitt's Private Museum". They tease a few times that the father of Cornelius, Hildebrand, was SUPPOSED to be buying art for Hitler's collection but spend the first 30 minutes talking about Hildebrand's hidden degenerate art collection. Then around the 30 minute mark they spend about 5 minutes talking about the Führermuseum, mentioning the couple of Vermeers that were acquired for it, and one of the guys being interviewed speculates that there MIGHT have been a Caspar David Friedrichs but he's unsure. Then after that brief chat about the titular subject they continue to discuss the Gurlitt collection. So TLDR: anyone who actually wanted to know more about the Führermuseum, this video's not what you're looking for.
I am glad that the paintings are in Germany where they belong. Different countries during the war raid Germany and stole so much from them and took it back to their country. Just so happy to see that Germany still has a piece of their history. I have really enjoyed the video and learning much more
AMBER ROOM STOLEN FROM Catherine Palace at one point the old man said, he knew the hiding place of the Amber Room and would trade his knowledge for the return of the paintings........

history plays its funny game on people... nothing is systematic (though many would argue it really is, or becoming that), murky water everywhere. you may think all the digitalisation will change anything? ha-ha. wait for another 50 years - you'll be further amazed)))
Why does the music get so loud at times? Who put the sound editing together? Ruined this video that was interesting except when the music started blaring.
As with nearly ALL documentaries.....SPOILT by silly, LOUD, over riding music (aka FUCKING racket) which serves only to distract and ruin the documentary. If it were NOT for that ghastly cacophony I would watched this from start to finish.

The music is so loud it drowns the speaker. You don’t need the dark fearful music. The story is dark and fearful enough.

The music is straight out of a Stephen King movie. Hey, we already know Hitler was bad. Don't insult us by beating us over the head with it.
Man! The music drowned out the narrator! It was difficult to decipher what the narrator was saying.

Super documentary but as you say music to high volume it's in lot of these documentary's hope you can do something, quality control.
The background MUSIC IS TO LOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD
I'd really like to watch this, but the background music is so ridiculously loud I can't hear the people speaking. I only made it to 2:32 seconds in.
We got to just over 4 minutes.

This is such an important story. It’s very difficult to hear with the loud dramatic music.
Would love to but can't watch this doc because the bloody music drowns out the commentary!!
yes, music is dominating this doc
What is wrong with the soundmix the music is generic and too loud. Pity.

I expect I'm not the first person to wonder what would have happened IF ONLY Hitler had been accepted by the academy of fine arts in vienna...
