Hildebrand's collection needs to be checked very carefully some of the pieces may have been bought, it appears the government just went in and blanketed the entire collection, remember these works are handed down from his father in the same way so many old masters have entered a family collection through the ages
Germany must be brimming with hidden gems from small boxes of medals hidden in fields, cash tins, weapons, scientific works, all the way to art, gold bars and gems... How fantastic to search for these items and bring history to light
I do find this episode insanely entertaining but just also sad the horrible things that came about by this horrible horrible person 😞 many thoughts and prayers to all those innocent people amd the stories they had
Why are the works of the African continent which was stolen so many years ago and still is stolen to this day, not so quickly returned to their rightfull owners , like the Benin Bronze Sculptures?. It's time to return to Mother Africa her treasures.
In general I agree. However, in one of the other episodes of this series they show pieces of art from WWII that are also still in “restitution limbo”, where it is unclear where or to whom they belong until somebody can prove they are the rightful owner… and I assume that this applies to a lot of African art as well, where it can be even harder to prove ownership and where it might be even more unclear if the pieces were freely given, sold/bought (sometimes with multiple owners) or stolen and paperwork in those cases takes a while. As for your Benin sculptures, you’re talking about a couple of thousand pieces with a variety of owners, which to me sounds like a paperwork nightmare, which unfortunately takes a while to resolve.
I Austria theres a museum that had the portrait of the aunt of a woman who lives in California and refused to give it back. She found an attorney who helped her to have it back. They have a movie. So trust no one if you're find anything 😂😂
I would need too know on a map where they found the gold in the woods and if I’m right in my mathematical calculations I would then know where the last gold stash is- my understanding is down to mathematics
Maybe not for you, but other people I would suggest yes, any snippet of information can complete or enhance other peoples research. You have a self centering way of examining evidence and this will not help your studying processes.
Instead of accusing them, Western historians should thank the Germans for saving these gems. The way the buildings to smithreens, all these would have been destroyed! All this is so cynical of the historians.
Finally some hosts. Very few would. That dumb old broad assumed the tapestry was stolen from some Jewish family when it belonged to the Germans all along.
So i come from new zealand, some of my ancestors luck charms, or art work. Was stolen in the 1800's by the french, german and English. They are being held in there museums. So my question is are these countries certified thieves. Are Polynesian people allowed the same rights as Jewish people. I say this because the English tried to wipe out the Maori. No one cried for us or the many other tribal communities around the world
I thought it would be very hard to interpret what one is saying by a side profile, a shame it all got bombed, all the goods really could of gone back to the people & all the buildings would still be making lots of money today

They forgot the greatest treasure taken in WW2 and that was the Amber Room
Facts
It burned down.
@paulitakiefer5632 it didn't it was broke down piece by piece then burned down. It still exist. You can watch videos about it, here on RUclips...
Russia has re built the amber room but just terrible the original was lost, probably destroyed
@paulitakiefer5632 no, it was stolen. People are still trying to find it. The Russians replaced everything, a replica room.
I found this fascinating.
Hugs from Brazil 🥰

I think your team is doing a great deed kudos to your team
So it is correct to say hitlers paintings and artwork was ...lifeless
The grasping government is NOT "the rightful owner" of ANYTHING.
Stoppit.
the spoils of war is always taken by the winners....
The winners will never be asked to tell the truth .
Pretty interesting
Great story about thf return of thf Flemish tapestry

They'd never make it. There is no system of checks and balances. The statue would be sold by some official and the money pocketed.
What about all the Jewish families that were exterminated who lost everything to the nazis and there is no one left to claim the stolen artwork???
They were "exterminated". How do the dead claim something?
6,500 found but theres no inventory list of what was taken. Just what was found.
My thoughts is there definitely could have been inventory lists but who knows where they are if not destroyed long long ago
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
Aussie Guy ey?
Where about are you from?
I'm from Melbourne
What happened to the SS officer who pitched his ring in the lake? Wasn't his name on the inside of the ring?
lol @ the 26:51 mark, who in their right mind would put potatoes in a safe, they would be totally mad 🦘🦘👌👌✌✌
When you’re starving?
as a new day dawns over on Oak Island. .. .
Could it be the Knights Templar who smuggled out the looted art then buried it for safekeeping on The Island nearly a century ago?

There again, the government comes out ahead
Switzerland, 🇨🇭 that’s where it is

I was thinking the same thing
I like the film the monuments men don't know if it's Accurate Though . I wonder if the gold Train really Exists or Existed 😊
Possible but my thoughts would be that was something very very well hidden and probably more on the top priority

I bought a replica of that ring on ebay for £50 very awesome

If I had stuff I would not turn it in.

Biggest lies from a bunch of Americans.
Lies ... because the greedy criminals, racists, murderous, evil animals Nazis have been defeated and destroyed. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You forgot about the Marshall Plan.
He was a bit of an excentric that Hitlerdude..
Had these not been collected and saved, the concurring armies would have stolen them and no records would have been kept.
All this investigating and you still talk like he actually committed suicide.... everyone else knows he didn't, and that he fled to South America.

Don't waste your time on this FAIRY TALE.
What a jip
Yip and the Allies stole it !
If your searching lakes why are you not using sonar first? Absolute waste of time and resources just fumbling round hoping 😢

OK this is not fair to the lady for whom her father got this during the war
Her father was a thief. Some hero. He was probably a desk jockey anyway who sent others to die.
Europes nightmare 😂 Europes savior i think..
