Just a quick FYI …. I personally get a lot of my hardware tools I use for modding from my local $2 Shop, here in Australia 🇦🇺 as you can save heaps on tweezers, bandaids, pliers, scissors etc 😉🥳👍
For all the people who do not have the lubing station or are just very lazy to lube the switches, for almost the same amount of price u can try to get yourself some akko pre lubed swiches, thats what I did and it worked as magic

Another excellent video! Thank you for making such detailed tutorials. I'm getting into keyboard modding with my kids and these are our go-to for ideas and guides.
I followed this tutorial last year while spiraling out after getting broken up with. Doing better now though and getting back into keyboard modding! This keyboard is still my best sounding one even with more expensive keyboards, and this tutorial was easy to follow. Keep up the good work! 👹
Great! I've been wanting to see a modding guide about this keyboard! Honestly, I was expecting GK61 first and then this keyboard probably sooner basing on your community post days ago. I'm really happy to see this vid drop and I hope I can mod mine sooner or later too!
Awesome. Love your modding guides. Really helps me out, and i'm sure helps a lot of other people as well! Thanks for all your hard work on these videos! Love them!
I recently got this keyboard after watching this and your review vid. I switched from a more expensive keychron k8 to this, It's so good for its price. I still have to get used to the layout and fn+ buttons though as its my first 60% layout board. I plan to mod it too using this video as a guide, thank you! I'm a fan of akko switches and was wondering if jelly black or silver would fit on the k617 fizz.
so from another video, someone mentioned they can be hotswapped w : Akko CS, Gazzew Boba U4/Bobagum, Glorious Pandas, KTT, Tecsee, Fekker. a bit late to the community, my brother has a keychron k8 too, imo doesnt seem that much worth the price so im planning on buying this one and modding it instead. wish me luck !!
@@huda.. thank you! and yeah I agree about keychron k8. My go to keyboards right now are a modded akko acr64 and the fizz which I have yet to mod. Good luck!
i got this same keyboard a couple of months ago and modded it under 80 dollars it was well worth the price if people are out there looking for there first budget keyboard mod this is a good keyboard besides that stock stabilizers everything else was good (Ps) take your timmmmmmmmmmmmmme if you rush you will mess up and destroy something
This is almost the way! I got a similar k630 for 37€ from amazon and plan to do the same bare tape mod (that's going to end up being very nasty in 2 years). There's no point adding 25€ of switches and 40€ of keycaps and end up paying 102€ while I could have grabbed an Akko 3068B that is way better for that price in every way. I also have 250€ keebs, it's just a value consideration, keep it either dirt cheap or get something good from the start imo
Bought this off this video and modded it half to death. Akko CS Lavenders (lubed) Switch foams under each switch Tape mod, one layer of scotch electrical tape and then 3 layers of masking tape Dielectric grease on the stab wires and then medical tape to reduce wiggle, clipped them with nail clippers And some cheap PBT keycaps. Sounds and feels like a $200 keyboard now! Loving this board so much
Just bought this for $21! I have Rakk Pluma which is a 68%, dual mode but I've always wanted a compact one instead. Anw, I had a hard time pulling the switches and I ended up damaging them but I'm planning on switching the stock switches to Akko Jelly Black switches though and I must say that Fizz's stabs are pretty decent! It is more stable than my mental health.
What a timing! Totally need this video And the keycaps are perfect, my fave color I'm waiting for this keyboard to arrive next week! I might do this customization in future Edit: I got it last 12/17/21 and I love it!! Now I'll buy some modding things in the future. I'm kinda lazy to do it this month lol
im using k617 fizz as my gaming keyboard just modded it with lubed akko match green switch and tape mode 3 layer and foam mod it sound really amazing love it . stabilizer i keep it stock just add medical tape on it on the stabilizer on the pcb. before the mod it has the spring alike sound its quite annoying after the mod all is solve . very like the mod
Great video! I have a newbie question tho :) can I leave the switches in without damaging them if I just wanna put some foam into the case so it doesn't sound as hollow?
Hello. Very good tutorial. I wanted to ask, what kind of switches can be replaced with outemo red and blue switches? I have a keyboard with outemo blue switches and want to change it to something more silent.
Do you think that the underglow on the custom keycaps is good enough? I ordered a set of clone GMK analog dreams but I really like the RGB on this board and the custom settings you can do through the software and I was wondering if you think that putting custom keycaps without the light shining through the letters is worth it.
You’re video mod series has been exceptional 👍🥳🤩! Great job CTR! And your lovely assistant deserves a mention too 🤩😉 Loving the content as always. You should do a collar with your assistant 🥰😉 in some videos. The great thing about these videos’ is that by showing the modding of everything, you can choose how little or how far you’re willing to go with your own personal mod 👍😁. You don’t need to mod everything as most keyboard enthusiasts state. It’s up to the individual which is what makes it custom 🥳🥳.
How long do these mods typically last before something requires you to take the whole thing apart again? I had such bad luck with those standard red dragon switches, they only lasted a year before they stopped working. Anyone else experience that or did I just get a bad one?
My previous red dragon keebs is from 4+years ago I think and still working fine I just had to replace them last december with this little guy because I got tired of it. It's a blue switch one I forgot the model but its a full keyboard, right now its on my lil brothers unit and still going strong. Just a few dusting every now and then but no broken keys yet.
@@RealMiracleDrugs with the redragon fizz? If yes, i tried to nudge a small chissel first or any thin object and then i tried to fit my twizzers sideways and basically pulled upwards
There are only a few switches that fit in the outemu hotswap slots. However, the best ones by far are any Akko CS switches, they fit in the slots, and they are quite affordable!
I just ordered one of these yesterday. Wow that timing is impeccable.
