Pouring down in Central Portugal so sat in front of a log fire watching this with the wife and dogs. Cheers John! 🥰
what a wonderful vision - thanks for sharing
@@JohnRogersWalks Five dogs and three cats sharing two laps hahaha (watching each mouthful of Ravioli leave the plate). Thanks John have a nice evening.
My partner has a house in Marina Grande. I want to retire to Nazare
@@chrispatten3482 Marina Grande is a weird place. Looks battered when you drive through it. Know Nazare really well! Best curry house in the region. Used to live around Caldas da Rainha for a few years. Prices going up!
thanks John another brilliant Iain Sinclair film . could listen to him all day !
A fantastic exhibition. I thoroughly enjoyed the events connected with it and was delighted to meet Allen Fisher again who I worked with some years ago. I was also taught by Brian Catling as a lowly undergraduate at Central School of Art in the 80s (just around the corner from Swedenborg House).
Great to see your work in the current exhibition Mark
@@JohnRogersWalks thanks John.
Fascinating. I could listen to Iain for hours! Thanks, John
Loved Iain since I read the orbital walk book way back, can't say I understand most of this but I feel it, wonderful and informative video John 😊
Really enjoyed this. I live near Bath, Michigan. The 1st time I visited that town I had an overwhelming sensation of dread, upheaval, and death. Only later did I learn of the Bath massacre, a man blew up the school killing 44(?) Back in1927. I get the reality of indelible presence. Thanks.
Absolutely loved this John, and congratulations on the 80k milestone!
Oh I can't thank you enough for this...absolutley fascinating....thoroughly enjoyed it.More please.....it corresponds brilliantly and effortlessly with your walks.Thank You again.
I don't know what to say.. .
Over the years, some of my dearest friends have been artists... I spent equal parts thinking they were genius... seeing things in ways that we just never could...and then also restraining myself from yelling at them to smarten up...
This video has had the same effect on me... thanks for sharing this John i definitely appreciate it
Brilliant John. Could listen to Iain talk all day.
Thanks Ben - got another classic video with Iain on the way
Simply wonderful.
Beyond words John. Thank you, thank you.
Thanks very much John
Thank you John. Always love to see/hear from Iain.
What an absolutely remarkable piece . An art installation in its own right . At points it takes walking to another level - a psychedelic geography.
Timeless but very much a conversation that started in a unique period in time - Counterculture ☮️ . A product of an ' Alternative London ' .
All tigether very Far Out . Thank you ✌️
gosh, this was fascinating - i'll have to do a re-watch - as i usually do with your videos! always enjoy listening to iain! thanks, john!
Thanks john Love your and Iains boom 😊
Wow ! fantastic viewing, i will have view many times to absorb everything, great work thank you !
Absolutely wonderful. What a joy.
Fascinating commentary and tour of an exhibition, which I regret to say, I missed. Thank you.
I spent many a happy hour on Pole Hill (Chingford) as a youth.
That was terrific. Thanks to all involved.
Many thanks
This was interesting, illuminating, and enriching.Thank you for documenting this.
Thank you for this!
My pleasure John
John! This is a treat! Thanks!
Excellent video and a nice link that St Nicholas, Chiswick gets a mention - my dad was vicar there for 30 years and I grew up playing on the foreshore.
John, i almost forgot to say, that 360 lens option in your filming is really top-notch. This is first time I've seen that technology exploited to its potential. Excellent
many thanks Sian - it really helped showcase the space
Thanks for this fascinating glimpse into a world which, at the time, I was only vaguely aware of...
Ps i would love to know the detail of the sword that would not be buried . A tale wirthy of M RJames or maybe The Mighty Boosh 🤔.
Clearly a lot of time and thought has gone into this and is a real passion for Ian. Made me think with all these synergies and happenings he references, what are they signs to? What is the point of all these connections? It can come across over indulgent on Ian’s part without a real end point or significance given for the exhibits as if someone needs to be able to understand a lot of subtext and have read a lot of the books he refers to get any meaning from it. although if it interests him and others then there’s no harm in that.
Where is your rucksack with the karabiner, John? I miss them.
Amazing
Fantastic!!! Do you plan to do a video tour of their current "Swedenborg's Lusthus" exhibit?
many thanks - it's a great idea. I haven't actually been yet
I’m a recent subscriber, I’ve been binge watching as and when I get time. I enjoy the river walks in particular, may I be so bold as to suggest a walk following Salmon’s Brook, I grew up around Edmonton and Enfield, it was a great place to play as a kid. It’s not quite as accessible as it once was but I’d like to see what you could teach us about its history beyond the Wikipedia page. Many thanks for your hard work!!!!
Such a hugely important archive John thank you so much !! .... of a Hugely Important Archive of the heady early Earth Mysteries times
Very interesting and enjoyable Cheers.
I definitely enjoyed it
Those were the days John! ! Ley lines and "The Old Straight Track" by Alfred Watkins, Avebury and the Rollright Stones. Never thought it would catch on.
Silbury Hill, West Kennett longbarrow, Cerne Abbas...
Many thanks to you John, Iain, Stephen and all involved in this excellent film.
The metaphysical or, dare I say it spiritual or even occult realms are best touched upon lightly when commenting on U tube posts; I know from experience that one can so easily be 'trolled', if that's the word, by more or less literate literalists, which, whilst affording mild amusement is nonetheless tedious.
I'm well impressed with the artefacts here, also the interior of the house. Iain's paintings are lovely and magnetic in effect; the whole exhibition, and everything I hear about Swedenborg brings the spirit of Blake strongly to mind.
Inspiring and impressive. Thanks again all! ⭐👍
Really enjoyed this John , I love the Moorcock quote , I used to love Moorcock's stories from Jerry Cornelius and the strange distorted vision of sixties London to the eternal Champions series and again parallel places and histories and strange reflections of Albion , also his novel of London offering so many stories! I used to walk a lot of North Central and West London in the seventies and used to feel other realities bleeding through especially in the old industrial quarters , then the Blake connection too and Alan Moore, mystical Albion also Avebury mystic sacred space , it marvelous seeing all these elements drawn together and learning something of Swedenborg as well , now I understand why I love your walks it's the magical mystical element that underpins your videos , thanks again John and Ian Sinclair, catch you on the next walk wherever that may be 💗🌈☯️👍
Magic stuff !!❤
Interesting indeed, thanks.
Brilliant very enjoyable
So glad you enjoyed it Vladd
I think I'm going to share this to one couple's webpage because I know they strongly feel connection with some of the places mentioned.
Stan Brakhage. This is really good, Iain Sinclair is sailing through the exhibits and pieces
Iain is a fascinating guy
Curious to know what the Stumbling Bow actually was before it became river junk and prior to its appropriation as psychogeographic totem. Its form looks familiar but sufficiently encrusted to arouse mystical credulousness. Very high 'magical' and 'energy' count in this video. Nobody's fault but Sinclair's and Swedenborg's!
how…synchronous?….just started reading Iain’s London Orbital. looking forward to watching this as soon as i get home from the brewpub 😂
Coal Hill is mentioned early on, and there is a hint of recognition. Closer to the end, there it is again... “at the end of the walk we wind up back at Coal Hill” (or something like that) And then it hit me! Coal Hill School from Doctor Who. And at the very end, the reference to Doctor Who. Cosmic.
Cheers John 🎉
Cheers Matt
Hi John, recently discovered your channel, absolutely love it! I'll be in England (from Australia) in May, do you do any guided tours? Would love to join one.
What a great channel. This is why I love YT although I really really hate it.
John could you do a film just with Stephen on a walk perhaps. He has some really interesting things to say but Iain always gets so enthusiastic he can often not finish his points.
Fabulous stuff John, let's have one of Andrew and Eden Kottimgs exhibitions too!
Iain Sinclair, the only man on planet Earth, who could recite from the book "War and Peace" and make it sound interesting.
when is this exhibition on? I couldn't see anything on the website
Hi Paul - it ended just before Christmas, I made this as a record. but the current exhibition is well worth a visit
thanks John!
👍👍🕍🕍👍👍
Iain still looks and sounds so young!
I know, it's incredible - such a force of nature
Where does the word Swedenborg come from? It sounds pseudo-Swedish 🤔
How bizarre
I'm afraid I found all this self-serving and narcissistic on Sinclair's part.
Just admit, you're bitter because it goes over your head, we understand...
@@shh_you_are_wrong Very possibly
I don't think narcissistic or self-serving is fair. How about 'magical' and 'jungian' and 'very annoying' ?
@@TracyPicabia and yet here you are, watching him, hmm....
@@shh_you_are_wrong No - I got an alert taht someone with nothing else to do had made made yet another antagonistic reply
