Thanks to this video, I found out about both Ian Nairn and Derek Raymond / Robin Cook and his Factory novels.

‘Telling a lie to what becomes a greater truth’ Wonderfully pseud. Superb thoughts and inverse questioning... do the characters do what you want or do YOU do what the characters want you to do.

Thanks for this. I'm a big fan of Meades and he deserves a larger audience. However, even I find most of what they're talking about a little too esoteric and meandering. A set topic would have been nice.

Who are they talking from 18.15 onward Iain Ned, Ian Nen, Ian Nehn, Iain Mehn?

I love Iain Sinclair's description of a particularly ghastly photo of Robin Cook - "a real ghost-train frightener".

Brilliant point at about 47 mins by Meades about the way that back gardens are being built on with more houses, etc. People can't resist the temptation to cash in, but it means all the green spaces in towns are disappearing.

I reckon Meades had only been to Portsmouth (Pompey) 3 or 4 times because it costs about £100 on the train

Andrew Kotting is the genius who also made 'Jaunt'. I didn't know he has a stall in Camden, wish I had have, I'd have gone and found him.....

A pack of mutually-promoting minor academics indulging in lists of obscure words far too long for them. Only Meades comes out of this with any credibility. In future do try to learn a bit about how to present an audio-visual event BEFORE you organize it. 2/10

Minor academics? They're not academics at all! And I didn't hear any long words either...

Erm...Iain Sinclair is one of the best ever London writers - not an academic at all.
