i've been putting off actually writing for weeks now and i decided to watch writing related videos to get motivation and this actually really helped :)
Your article on outlining a book and sharing your plotting routine is incredibly insightful! It's so valuable to see how authors approach the structuring of their stories.📚✨
I used to be a go with the flow/write the story before you plot it out kind of girl but I switched because I couldn't finish the rough draft that way. So now I just get the basic information like out the way & then start the rough draft. I say just do it. Don't procrastinate and fix whatever errors you made along the way later.
like honestly, ideas just come around at the most random and odd places (at least for me), and in those instances it's mostly before going to bed or at the damn toilet! it's great that i've made it a habit to snatch up my phone and type it down on my notes before it even disappears.
I LOVE this!!!!! I seriously love the idea of placing it out physically-- i've always kinda done this. Back when I was running D&D campaigns I used to have a wall of stickey notes of ideas. More recently for a book i have in mind, I taped up index cards. THIS IS SO MUCH MORE ORGANIZED!!!
I just discovered your channel yesterday, and I want to say your tips and insight have been really helpful! I love your vibe 💗 also the thing about ideas just coming naturally, so true. some of my best ideas come in the shower haha
I used to be a complete pantser, but I find myself becoming more and more of a plotter. I want to actually physically lay out my plot on the door or wall or a board or something next time.
Cool idea-generating trick I heard: listen to ambient music or soundscapes while you're scrolling through Pinterest. It's surprising what cool ideas you get out of nowhere.
This is spooky lol I was Trying to come up with ideas to use to practice making book covers, which made me remember a book I had tried to write years ago but ended up giving up on, and while reminiscing on that this video pop up 😅
How do you deal when there is a concept, elements, vibes, multiple settings and starting scenes, and some rough characters as for archetypes, but the characters don't seem to work together or with the story? It's a mystery (not the murder one). I can't imagine meaningful events for the start that I won't regret later, nor meaninful dialogue even considering show-not-tell.
i'm not published yet, but i hope to be in the next year or so. i wrote a 90k thriller manuscript last summer, and i'm currently 50k into drafting a contemporary romance! :)
any video suggestions that you would like to see? 🎀✨🫡
Thank you so much❤
I love seeing writing vlogs and videos about worldbuilding, your characters etc🤍
Very true! I write fanfics, and the most interesting ones are the ones that just came out of nowhere on a random Friday night 😂

yes, having an outline is so helpful when it comes to conquering writer's block!!
Same. I feel like I’m somewhere in between (a plantser) because I still like that flexibility, but there’s more of a structure to it.
Thanks for sharing your process!
I love to see your process! And it’s great to use a door instead of a wall; I think I’d prefer that.
I love this process. I love to plot with structure and my intuition but I'm not fully intuitive.

@@bykatieparker oh wow!! You have been WORKING!! Oh okay! Great! I’m going to have to check it out.
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read

My process except I hardly write anything down except a single massive brain dump…and I’ve been calling myself a pantser.
