That whole sequence of kassian pummelling Tkachuk is hysterical the way he gets creamed pops up looks around realizes it was tkachuk AGAIN and just goes completely ballistic
Kassian can say what he wants, he was cleanly hit twice or three times and then got dropped the third time and got all salty about it. Good on Tkachuk no need to fight after a clean hit. Even Brian Burke says so!
Kassian: 171 points in 510 games 0.34 points per game -30 Tkachuk: 212 points in 270 games 0.79 points per game +21 Allstars don’t need to fight pluggers after legal hits.
One noticeable thing about Tkachuk's hits on Kassian is that Giordano is the one guiding Kassian all three times. Noticeably railroading Kassian into Tkachuk. Giordano is known to be a dirty player in his own right. To me it seems like they had a plan to go at Kassian at the time. The prior game Tkachuk was doing his usual pestering. Giordano had taken McDavid into the net post at high speed the prior year. Doing whatever it takes to have a chance at winning the cup because going toe to toe with a healthy Oilers is disaster. It was tactical for them to devolve Kassian into the physical aspect instead of playing a smart game to help McDavid accomplish his job. This year they can't do that to his line because Nugent-Hopkins and Puljujarvi are skilled players as well. They both understand how it is to be hunted and play smart to avoid dangerous collisions. Not to mention if you leave them open, they're just as dangerous as McDavid, so you have to approach the new line with a smarter mindset. Can't have a guy leave their point coverage to run a guy on the railroad. The line Tkachuk says in the post-game interview also suggests they plotted it.
Zack Kassian got rocked 3 times and didn’t have his head up once lol Tkachuk just playing like his old man.. Good, play hard, tough hockey!!.. Doesn’t matter to me he got “rag dolled” like everybody saying.. But hey like he said, we’ll take the win and we’ll take first place too!!.. Awesome game though and yes indeed the “Battle of Alberta” is back alive and well!!..
Those hits were 100% clean and legit, good for Tkachuk for not head hunting. Just good clean hockey, nothing to get pissy about, not sure what Kassian is thinking there.
I've said it many times, I would absolutely HATE Tkachuk with a passion if I wasn't a Flames fan. I completely get why a lot of the league hates him. For example, the original elbow Tkachuk gave Doughty was dirty and he deserved his suspension. But what a lot of the league doesn't understand is that Tkachuk is mostly a clean player. He's just really really good at being annoying. He's figured out how to walk that line with perfection. Like it or not, all of his hits were clean tonight. That's just a fact. You could argue about the first hit but it was a hit to the shoulder. A player shouldn't have to drop the gloves when he hits a player cleanly. The game has changed and the league is better for it. Yes, Tkachuk would in all likelihood lose in a fight with Kassian. He knows that, he's smart. Which is why he decided not waste his time fighting a 4th liner. Like he said "we'll take the powerplay and the two points".
@Michael OConnor it would be predatory if it was a headshot or a hit from behind at full speed because that is an intent to injure. These were hard, clean checks to get under an opponents skin, and my goodness was it effective. Tkachuk lives rent free in so many heads around the league, it's hilarious. Kassian may have been engaged in a separate play with Giordano but it is totally and completely legal for Tkachuk to get in there and hit him at that time. I wouldn't say he skated in full speed, he took a few strides to get momentum because Kassian's a big dude. If Kassian hit Gaudreau hard, I obviously wouldn't like it but if it was a legal hit, I would say there's nothing wrong with it. Gotta keep your head up in this league.
@@likeag1000 Let me introduce you to a rule called charging. If a player leaves the ice, takes more then 2 strides or skates a long distance for the purpose of punishing a opposing player its a charging penalty. At 1:12 he leaves ice. Starting at 2:30 he takes 5 strides before the hit. Both of the clear charging penalties. I don't really care that they weren't called. But after dishing out the big hits he tries to skate away is the most cowardly thing in hockey.
Harbey 138 Tkachuk wouldn’t fight kass when he was on the 4th line, and now that he’s on the 1st there’s still nothing but excuses. Let’s see what other stipulations the weasel can come up with
That's because other players don't like getting punched in the face fighting to protect tknothead when tknothead starts running people. Tknothead should've stood up for himself instead of being ragdolled and turtling like the B+++h Kassian called him. As much as Wilson is another knothead, at least he stands up for himself.
@Harpers Nutts imagine playing with draisaitl and mcdavid and realize how easy it is to get points then come to a conclusion that most of his co called career is mid 20 pts a season. Now as far as what it says about the flames...well their 2nd in the west.
@ActionGenesis you might not always get crushed. But against calgary you would. Take kytchuck & lucci out of calgary and that hit more than likely would not have happened.
Both of Tkachuk's body checks were within rules but Kassian was certainly vulnerable on each. Why Kassian gets suspended for two games trying to protect himself seems pretty strange to me.
The first hit on kassian the primary contact was to the head/neck and the second one was from behind. But nice to know that he wont be suspended because we all know how the NHL cares so much about player safety.

Put a mic in Tkachuk's face and he gets the last laugh. Put a fist to his face and he wins the game. Tkachuk doesn't think he's tough, unlike Kassian who has to retaliate every hit against his goon ass.
@@quentinskalyn1771 ya he tried to injure him. Nothing admirable about that. That kind of attitude is why connor left that gameast year against Calgary with a broken collarbone. Calgary goes out with intent to injure.
That first hit on Kassian that was beside the net when he was tryin the wrap around, his hip clearly collided with Kassian neck. Play it on 0.5 playbacn speed. You can see it clear as day. Kassian is lucky he didn't damage have a damaged vertebrae after that.
There is a slough of nhl insiders and players and spokesman that all disagree with nhl. Guys who are saying, you know how I know those were dirty hits, cuz I used to do them and j deserved a punch in the face too.

I think we both know if Kassian was throwing hits like that on Tkachuk, you'd be pissed off😂
Joshua Fodchuk sure, but the hits were clean. And I don’t think Tkachuk would throw a hissy fit, he would just continue to play
@@bofadeese2715 Please explain how the 1st hit was clean. looks like a charge to me. But objectively he hit the head and left the ground. how is that clean?
TheRichardson711 wasn’t a charge. He glided and stopped before he hit him. It was a clean hit. Kassian himself even said it was.
@@nestlawatr5643 are you looking at the same hit? to the head. Airborne. slow it down and watch the 1st hit. not the hit where he attacked Tkachuk, the one before. I think both are potentially charging calls but that rule is too vague for me to judge. Even without the charging, the 1st hit should be suspendable.

Allstars don’t need to fight pluggers after legal hits.
Last year edition of this video better
Zack Kassian got rocked 3 times and didn’t have his head up once lol Tkachuk just playing like his old man.. Good, play hard, tough hockey!!.. Doesn’t matter to me he got “rag dolled” like everybody saying.. But hey like he said, we’ll take the win and we’ll take first place too!!.. Awesome game though and yes indeed the “Battle of Alberta” is back alive and well!!..
Well said tkachuk, first place it is

Love that Tkachuk kid. Someone made a 5min vid of him getting under people's skin back in 16-17 season its awesome. Watch it here on YT
Stay out of the tracks Kassian 🚂🚂
@Michael OConnor lol
LOOOOOOOL yikes, sure you dont wanna just delete this?
