My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

The start of the book is available for FREE online on Smashwords.. .Thank you so much for suggesting it! I did exactly what he said ...wasted time, searching around for all sorts of methods and ignoring the Wellesley course via edX. I don't love it, but it does organize me. And Ivantsiv's study time suggestions, etc. are exactly what I needed to just stop messing around and get started! Again, THANK YOU!! And that's just from the free section...planning to buy it!

I lived in Italy for two a half years from 1990 to 1992 while serving in the USAF and I now wished I would’ve tried harder to learn Italian while over there. I am now using these tutorials on RUclips to make up for not learning the language back then.

That's good to know because I learnt Buongiorno as meaning either Good Morning/Good Day/Hello, so I've always thought you could say it as a more formal opening. Turns out it only means Good Morning.. that's the problem of learning languages by yourself; you have no one to tell you you're learning something incorrectly. It's so difficult learning a language alone.
Thank you for the comment by the way... I've been learning Italian for a little over a year now and can't believe I've learnt one of the most common words incorrectly. Which makes me worried of what all else I've learnt wrong 😩
