Nice work!!! I am welding some holes in my 70 cab, and its hard with a MIG. Love the 520/1 body style.

Im assuming the sheetmetal on a datsun 520 is thicker than the sheetmetal used on Nissan/ datsuns built in the 1980s
Because my experience with old datsuns is they may have been tin cans in thier own time but compared to wjat they use on modern stuff they are freakin tanks.
BTw youre wrong, u absolutely can cut sheetmetal from a late 1960s domestic car with tin snips, they just need to be sharp, and yea your wrists/hands will be very sore. (Edit: at 3:58 you confirm it's actually similar in thickness to the metal used in say, a Chevelle!)So maybe its just "weaker" metal. Also its worth mentioning that Nissan used different thicknesses of metal in different places on the car depending on how much strength was needed.
Not detracting from the patience you have to take this on, most people would've simply bought a better hood....you got it done better n new!
Now something from the 1950s is a different story , im pretty sure the FRAME RAILS of that datsun aren't much thicker than the sheet metal a 1950s lead slead was built of :)

Great to see the Datsun back in the fore - although seems as challenging as the boat :)

Getting this rusty bent old truck straight will certainly be a huge challenge for this Benny!
