20 minutes after Dave posts this video and I get a notification. Thank you RUclips! I have to say that Walking a Battlefield videos sparked my interest in the Battle for Guadalcanal. Dave's simple approach and "military eye" brings these important battles on Guadalcanal and Tulagi to life for me. Many many thanks.
I didn’t continue on with the 2nd Marines involvement in this one and I know it’s importance to you. Hope you get a bit of understanding from this video of that area on the end of 84
Thanks Dave. I think that the Marines who fought and died here would be glad to see the area so full of life, despite the fact that there are so few monuments and preservation. The fact that the area is so thriving is a testimony to their sacrifice if you know what I mean. Tough position to be in, but then again the 5th Marines were tough people.
Progress is inevitable but thanks to the ones who preserved these spots and thanks to Dave and others like him who bring it alive. Who could understand saving a little Type 94 37 mm antitank gun and placing it on the same spot could mean so much to so many. So much happened on Guadalcanal in the years after the battle, it’s amazing that it was saved. Mike
Excellent !! Thank you.
