I jumped on this one simply because Google is bundling it with a free set of their Buds plus a free limited edition case, both would cost well over $100 bucks making this a $400 phone with something to show for the lower cost. If you watched either the LTT live stream or Unbox Therapy's live stream you could have nailed an additional $50 bucks off making all of the deals combined a no brainer over the standard 7. Even without that last deal, it's still an amazing deal. Nice review!
I just upgraded from the 6a to the 7a. Nothing wrong with the 6a I’ve had it for a while and happy with it, but I had to upgrade simply for the wireless charging on the 7a. For me personally budget phones are my sweet spot.
its sad when 500 dollars now is considered "budget" that used to be flagship price not that long ago. i for one will never spend more than 300 bucks for a new phone. i learned my lesson from the last couple of flagships that didnt even last 3 years due to the battery having issues.
Interesting review, thank you. Suggestion, turn off the background music. It is beyond me why RUclips content creators think it necessary or cool playing music over their voice. The music quickly becomes intrusive, and annoying. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus they concentrate on your voice and at the same time concentrate tuning out the music; frustrating.
At $500 for the 7a, the Pixel 7 is a better buy, but surely in 3-4 months when it will be around $350, there the 7a will be a very good deal if not the best in North America and Europe, but not necessarily elsewhere with competitors like the Poco F5 / F5 Pro, OnePlus 11r or Motorola X40 which in many markets costs $500. Personally, I would never put $500 into this Pixel 7a, I'd rather buy an S21 Plus / Ultra or a OnePlus 10 Pro. Ps: on the other hand, the increase in the price of the Pixel 7a does not announce anything good regarding the price of the upcoming Pixels 8 / 8 Pro.
I found myself looking at her uneven nails throughout the whole video than the phone.😵💫... surely cnet has to pay enough to invest in a nail file or clippers.🤔
Man these budget phones are really getting good.
They can actually keep up with flagship phones… I’ve gotten the Pixel 7 from Amazon for $429 and it’s a beast 🫡

I agree. $500 is still a lot of money.
Black Friday
my xiaomi a3 with custom rom android 13 seems a better deal for 100bucs in 2020
U prefer 6a Or any oneplus?
@Uchiha Daniel iPhone SE 2022 is way cheaper than this. You can get a Samsung S21 Ultra renewed for way cheaper than $500.00+Tax.
Interesting review, thank you.

Pixel 7a looks quite nice tbh and didnt expect a camera upgrade on this series which shocked me
You save 100% when you don't spend more money on a a phone you don't need.
Solid review if not a brief review at that. Slight thing I'm confused on is why not mention the camera specs just a little bit?
Is this phone overheating.
If CNET had done a negative review, this video would have 500,000 views by now.
Does this have expandable storage or a 256gb option?
No only 128gb model no expandable storage
Great review 👌
It’s a good phone but i think 500 is too much. Luckily Amazon is giving a 50 dollar gift card with purchase which is nice.
Love CNET ❤️

Can you imagine the non Pro Pixel 8 being $700.00? Reviewers will still be calling it "budget".🙄
Please what game was that?
Grimvalor
It looks pretty chunky
It's a mid-ranger, not a budget phone. Budget phones don't have the same processor and almost the same specs as the flagships
3 yrs from now $500 BUDGET phones will be …”THE NEW FLAGSHIP PHONES”😂😂😂 😂

Budget so you can get a real budget phone for the amount you save over buying the flagship phone ... clickbait
😊
