    Great speech, reminds me of the Socrates quote - "I am wiser than this man, for neither of us appears to know anything great and good; but he fancies he knows something, although he knows nothing; whereas I, as I do not know anything, so I do not fancy I do. In this trifling particular, then, I appear to be wiser than he, because I do not fancy I know what I do not know."

    I'd like to see more of this thinking in the US govt, and in general in all governments over the world, having the presidents saying and believing such things would take us far.

      We all have thought that, of course common threats make us bond. Clinton was introducing something light, but his answer couldn´t be more on target! Stay hungry for knowledge as long as you live!

      By that logic, you would also assume that if we discovered another, say, parallel earth durring its "renaissance period". We would first react with violence as opposed to research, cooperation, guidance, or at worst enslavement. I highly doubt we'd destroy them untill they began to show signs of actually being able to pose a threat. That is assuming we haven't already determined that they're more inclined to peace as opposed to our long history of violence.

    Absolutely! I love the expression "you need to stay hungry", exactly how I feel about knowledge, of all kind, more, more, I ´m hungry! thank you Mr President. Though I am not North American, nor live in the US. I have always been a great great admirer, and also of brilliant Hillary.

      Victor ADĂSCĂLIȚEI Generally speaking "good" videos get a ratio of 100 likes to 1 dislike, so 122 to 10 is actually quite bad. I thought his message was quite good though so I am not sure why there are so many dislikes.

    Thank You Mr. President, this was a very beautiful talk and I really appreciate you taking your time to discuss lifelong learning.
    It seemed to be set up as a smaller group discussion and questions & answers session, as compared to your much larger and more formal speeches I've seen.
    It's so important for our global leadership to speak up about the importance of lifelong learning.
    I don't think I've seen any of our former Presidents and other retired leaders who don't love to learn and have great curiosity about many interesting topics.
    Thank you for continuing to be a light in the darkness and still willing to lead the way for our community's and society in general.
    May God Bless You and your Entire Family and keep you all safe and healthy during these troubling times.
    Most Sincerely and with My Utmost Respect,
    Phil G Bergeron 🙃🤓

    I, too was interested in Physic and Astrophysics. However, I wasn’t allowed to keep studying in the USA, as I wanted, by those who claim to be Democrats like you.
    Especially, by some blacks Democrats who felt envious and left behind if a white woman like myself had an opportunity that wasn’t given to them, apparently.

    I was never a very big fan of Bill Clinton as a president, however I've always found him to be very inspiring when it came to education and the power of self-learning. This is a man who came from very humble beginnings and yet did so much with his life.

  • @DavidWagner1985
    @DavidWagner1985 10 лет назад +3

    I have always been a Moderate Independent that traditionally votes Republican. I have always felt very biased against Bill Clinton. I am beginning to realize that what our country needs most is Education and Inspiration. Bill Clinton just made restitution in my mind for his wrong doings from the past. I was only a child when he had the affair with Monica Lewinsky and lied while under oath. I felt so betrayed by him and didn't believe that I could trust him. This video has taught me that I need to be more forgiving and more understanding that we all make mistakes. Even a flawed man can get things right every once in a while. I believe that what is wrong with our country is our in ability to hear someone through that has a differing view than our own. This will cripple us as a society. I believe that their are great Ideas coming from both sides from republicans and democrats. we need to listen closely and take the good and build upon it. take the time and effort necessary to establish the best policy possible in a bipartisan way. You do not have to agree with Bill Clintons Politics to listen to this video and feel inspired. Great speech President this is what I have been longing for from you. Something heart felt and sincere that recognizes the smallness of who we are as individuals but the greatness we can become as a nation when we put together our genius and set aside our differences

    For all the problems we have globally, we need to get together and work together. But how do we get together? You gave the answer : When we are attacked by aliens we shall start hugging each other. The attack will provide the ground for unity.This is how nature works: Not by logic but by the lack of it. We do not need an attack to help us unite. Imagine an environmental disaster that reduces food supply by 40%, we shall immediate learn what is to be done to get out of the mess. We learn by trial and error method.

  • @naimulhaq9626
    @naimulhaq9626 11 лет назад

    I am 65. You are right that there is no end to learning.I learned how third world countries should respect the contributions of the developed nations, and cooperate to establish a new world order from which everybody benefit. This can only be achieved through respect. For instance, blaming the developed nations, and making them pay for all the carbon pollutions of the last 300 years is not at all justified, because we all benefited !

    One of the best examples of the saying " with age comes wisdom." Most older people live completely useless and shitty lives and think they deserve respect, even though they're just as stupid and useless as the were when they were in their 20's. But if you continue to teach yourself, keep a open mind, and try to become a less shitty person. You can then have some valuable wisdom to offer like Mr. Clinton here. Even though this is kind of obvious to some people. Most people whether you believe it or not, are really wasting their brain. Filling it with a bunch of useless nonsense. They could care less about anything knowledgeable but Bill, whether you think it or not, is very influential on many people. He could potentially get more people to think. Which could possibly solve many problems. The possibilities are limitless if you got a mass majority of people to think and do something useful with their minds besides sitting around being useless garbage.
