According to campendium, camping is no longer offered at Deep Creek Preserve. The SFWMD site no longer even mentions camping.

This occurred after this video was published. The area was damaged by heavy use and I was told this area needs time to recover. Group camping is still allowed by contacting the agency by telephone. Lou

Planning on staying here on our way back from camping in the keys as a layover so can take the kiddos to see the infamous Edison and Ford Winter Estate. Always enjoyed going there as a kid. It's only 43 mins away from this site. We planned it for next year September 2023. The park should reopen by then from the Hurricane.

Recommend calling their administration office to check on the current status if you cannot obtain a free reservation online.

Another great video Lou. We were in Florida for this past winter but this campground was closed for repairs the entire time so it was nice to see what it looks like and will have it on your list for next time we are there.

Yep-they closed it to online reservations during the temporary closure. They cite environmental impact as the reason for the current closure. I’m curious as to what specific impacts led to the temporary closure. Thanks for watching! Lou

@@LivingOurDreamNow This camp ground was closed because of all the damage done by campers who came in illegally. We went there about 3 years ago before every Tom, Dick, and Harry posted about how wonderful it is. We were the only campers there. So many people came in illegally with the gate code being passed out by other campers. Because there is no camp host here it was abused. In 2019/2020 we came across one couple who stayed there all winter by simply using different email addresses. There were about 15 campers in there where there are only supposed to be 9. Now all the rules with SWFWMD changed to limit camping in all their sites.
