A key concept which explains all this much better is that all the force from the ground is only transmitted to forward acceleration through the heel/back of the boot. It can't move you forward by pushing on the balls of the feet etc. So basically skiing is balancing your body against that force through the heel. For example, the more force you feel, like down the fall line, the more you have to balance forward in anticipation.
Hello, i was wondering. Which way is best to really flex the ankles and get into the front of the boot with maximum shin pressure. I struggle sometime with staying forward, especially when trying to make short turns on steeper pitch. Is it better to bring knees more down into the ski and push forward or to lift the foot up in the boot and increase the dorsiflexion to force shin pressure? Anyways amazing vide thank u very much
moving the upper body forward to get on the front of the skis is slow because it requires a big upper body movement. It is much more efficient and much faster to pull the feet back.
@@birendrabajaj4215 Basically it feels like walking backwards. As you start entry into next turn, the new outside foot should be moving back so that it's increasingly behind you as the force of acceleration increases towards the fall line. Otherwise the force will push the skis out in front of you.
Many years ago, when I saw this video by Kalle, I realized that moving your body weight along the skis is very important. It’s good that you show this, but 99% of fans will never understand this. Thanks for your work. ruclips.net/video/qkWl9sPmHQ0/видео.html I'm from Ukraine. Our skiing is really bad. We have the Carpathian Mountains, but there are no coaches, because the development of the sport is led by incompetent people.

Good to get a reminder of some of the drills to practice in the coming season. And nicely shot with good scenery. Can I ask what's the location?

Nice video, thanks. Anyway the most difficult thing is staying forward at the beginning of the turn.
exactly! the critical time to pull the feet back rather than make the big upper body forward movement.
One of the best videos
Michael, thanks for your kind comment! The location is Ruka, Finland. See www.ruka.fi
for do this exercise in the video we must work on dorsi flex?

emakarios - I totally agree with you on this. It would be advisable to train both methods to be versatile.
would you know any training videos that explain this concept?
