Seriously spot on! To those saying it’s too bright, you should probably go back and listen to the first couple of records. His tone WAS bright and twangy. I want to buy a Kemper just to get these tones.
Troy Grady sounds so good man. great stuff Listen to GARDEN OF TONE / Final Mix by RICH COLE / RKCMUZIK #np on #SoundCloud soundcloud.com/rkcmuzik/garden-of-tone-final-mix
It's over 40 years, and players are still trying to figure that sound out! This setup is first rate, but how did Eddie first arrive on his combination of musicianship, guitar, effects, and amp. It is remarkable!
Yes. This. Amazing how far ahead of his time he was. He optimized his tone and tempo of the time-based effects to match and enhance his incredible playing. All this using 1970s technology! Wow! 😲
This is why Edward is considered the greatest guitarist of all time. He just went above and beyond anything that anyone was doing, and it worked. Trial and error. The man was a genius!
Having seen the original Van Halen countless times, I was always surprised at how bright and single-coil like his sound really was; much cleaner and clearer than those trying to emulate it. This captures that tone perfectly; and your playing is spot on too!
Scott Cramer I feel like such a Debbie downer haha but, for you brown sound fans #1 is the fingers. Eddie can play through an MG10 practice amp and get pretty close. 2nd is the guitar. The wood combined with the slanted pickup (bass notes toward the front) huge, nxt the cabinet with 70s G12s, last the amp. The Kemper snap shots it all into the amp when theoretically the amp is the last thing in the chain. The only reason I chimed in is that if your game is the "Brown" sound, this modeler is big ole money. Brown starts at the 1st part of the signal chain and ends with a marshall tube amp. That marshall sounds way different with say Slash and a Les Paul.
@@mustardproductions3531 Oh, come on, the slanted pickup has got zero to do with anything. And most of the non whammy stuff was done on the Destroyer anyway...
Hey Ben, I would like to get one of these! I can use this in my protools rig pretty easy but live I really need to have a cabinet and power amp. Can you please lend any info on what would be the ideal 4x12 and power amp? I would imagine the cleanest headroom SS power amp so there is no shaping of the tube power amp circuit? thx!
This alone is enough to buy a kemper rig....I own a 5150 and god bless it's brutal...but dam all the plug in's are spot on....holy flipping pancake's that's pound sound brown...
Marco Polo check out the R/T modded Marshall's if you really want a jaw drop. This is good but, its like saccharin compared to a dimed Marshall thats had a couple tweaks. Kemps are indispensable for home studio's though. I just call it straight.
I was watching these profiles last week, really digging back in to the Van Halen sound. I was stoked when I got a notification of you downloading this Top Jimi profile. Sounded great, Ben. I can't believe the Kemper, and that one can just simply download a profile to replicate what took me years to even come close to. So cool!
Honestly I think I'd buy a Kemper just to be able to get those tones. Absolutely spot on sound and amazing. You have great playing man you really did the songs justice and didn't half ass it. Killer stuff man. Thank you for posting this!
PS: I have been listening to a bunch of demos of the Kemper, Line 6 Helix and the Fractel rack. I have to say this is the best sound I have heard of any of them period.
Absolutely the most accurate early Van Halen tone I've ever heard. Extremely impressed. Not only is your playing very nice but this and other videos I've seen of yours make it clear that you have great ears. Nice job!
It's the 'definition' control on the Kemper. A lot of profiles seem to come with automatically set really high which really thins and brightens the tone. Lower definition settings sound thicker and more balanced eq wise.
That is super accurate. I can't believe how spot on that sounds. I'll check back here and sift through for a rig rundown, but I need to update my setup...badly.
Have Guitar looking Forward to your videos in 2018.Hope that some of the upcoming Top Jimi Profiles will be covered.especially interested in the jvm410hjs profiles that will be released in 2018
wow - aside from the excellent sound profile (I'm a fanatic for that sound as well, and somehow never use it myself! but it's the best guitar sound I've ever heard in my life. and I'll never grow tired of it. saw them in 82 when I was 16), your rhythm guitar parts are so accurate they're making me feel like I'm listening to edward. great job!
If any demo would make we want to buy a Kemper, this demo clinches it. Two questions: 1) Do you use the Kemper for live gigs? If you do, are you running a power amp and speaker cab and feeding the models to the FOH? 2) What's the cab you have sitting beneath the Kemper in your studio? Thanks for the great demo!!
Man I grew up in L.A. .. the first time I ever saw VanHalen was in like 76, at a backyard Party and they were doing cover stuff still .. ZZ Top, KISS, Montrose, etc., and you are nailing this stuff man .. Good Job .. and the Kemper is nailing the tone .. :-)
Badass. This completely tore me away mentally from what I was working on and put me on a VH kick for a couple of days. I even picked up on a couple of things you're doing that others don't. I'm sitting here trying to chase that tone. Dammit.
It really is kickass. I have been addicted to it since i downloaded it. unreal. So, if you throw a really wet reverb signal to the left or right and dry on the other side, you will sound exactly like the album. If you pan VH 1 to the right or left, you'll know what i mean. Who Hoo!! :-)
Holy shit the second you started playing RunninI heard Edward’s tone from the album and my eyes and ears perked up like a dogs. 👀👂 Even on my shitty harsh iPhone 6 built in speaker. I would love to hear that through a 4x12 cab or 2. 😳 🎸
Thanks for the great vid. I bought these profiles and they are fantastic. It was like, "go ahead! take my money!" I also bought the Boston and AC/DC ones. Great work Top Jimi.
Feel Your Love and Dance were spot on sound wise. Only nit-picky thing I noticed was the bottom end that the cabinet(s) have the sound. But I am quite sure that with your skill and talent you could get that. I've recorded through one of those Kempers with my bass to go along with a "clean" DI track. They are amazing.
Dude!...Pass inspection?!... If you replaced Eddie's tracks with these sounds, I don't think anyone would notice the diff(including Ed). One thing it shows me is that Ed's Marshall wasn't some rare magic amp. It was just another good Marshall but with a Variac to let it run in it's sweet spot. The Echoplex, and a lush Plate Reverb just put it over the top. Whoever did these Top Jimi patches, obviously followed the recipe to a T. I'm jealous! BTW, Nice playing bro. Rock On!
Seriously spot on! To those saying it’s too bright, you should probably go back and listen to the first couple of records. His tone WAS bright and twangy. I want to buy a Kemper just to get these tones.
About as close as you can get to having that Plexi sizzle without actually playing through a cranked Plexi.
Pretty cool.
Great sounds and even better playing Ben! That's some hot tub time machine right there.

Troy Grady thanks so much Troy! Have you ever messed with the Kemper? I think you'd love it!
Ben Eller *You knocked it out of the park especially Panama👍😎👍*
How about feel your love tonight. WOW
Thank you for the great demo, and glad you're digging the profiles!
Top Jimi Kemper Amp Profiles hey thanks again for making these profiles!!! I'm absolutely in love. That Jubilee is incredible too!
I'm a thinkin I'm a gonna be needin the "Everyting" pack!!! WOAH!!!
Shannon Wimberly
I'm thinking I'm gonna wait for the software RTAS model of the Kemper

That's what I've always loved about EVH is his tone and his incredible rhythm playing. Great video and playing!
Having seen the original Van Halen countless times, I was always surprised at how bright and single-coil like his sound really was; much cleaner and clearer than those trying to emulate it. This captures that tone perfectly; and your playing is spot on too!

People don't realize just how much of MA's bass is what they think they are hearing as "Eddie's" tone.
Dirty, hairy, and full of sizzle. My God, that is THE tone to noodle on for days!
Seriously, when you hit that first chord I sat up straight in shock.
haha glad you dig!!!

kemper offers a powered version
Josh, Kemper has a 600w powered version. It's probably your best best.
I have 600w powered version with two 412's and it ROCKS. You just turn off the cabinet simulator.
Well there it is, the holy grail! A PERFECT reproduction of the EVH brown sound that people have tried to replicate for decades!
By far the Best Brown sound I've ever heard!
stevenowen82 take a look at satsuma 3042
it's just an imitate of brown sound.
This alone is enough to buy a kemper rig....I own a 5150 and god bless it's brutal...but dam all the plug in's are spot on....holy flipping pancake's that's pound sound brown...
This is the greatest typo of all time "pound sound brown" I shall be using it regularly haha
I have 2 5150 3 50 watt heads.
Now I must have a Kemper and the brown sound profiles!!!
Top Jimi oh Jimi top Jimi he's the KING!!!
Top Jimi is THE modern tone scientist, on point every time.
I own these profiles, absolutely amazing, you have to hear them in person to fully appreciate the tone!
That tone is amazing. Truly the closest to VH's brown sound I've ever heard. Wow!
Marco Polo check out the R/T modded Marshall's if you really want a jaw drop. This is good but, its like saccharin compared to a dimed Marshall thats had a couple tweaks. Kemps are indispensable for home studio's though. I just call it straight.

I´m oldschool. I love my old amps. But i have to admit, that these sounds are so close. Thanks man.
Cool! Prob the best VH tones I've heard on RUclips considering RUclips audio is compressed like crazy.
Ugh, that sounds SOOO good! EVH brown sound is my favorite tone of all time!
Sounds exactly like the brown sound, has that punch and growl. Well done!
Love how it has the compressed studio polish on it that was a bit different than Eddies live sound.
So awesome Ben! Thanks for sharing this piece of Rock equipment!
....no one will ever get the "brown sound" but this is pretty damn close!! Good work fella!!
sounds like the perfect brown tone
just killer...blasted this in the studio. tone is SO sweet

Jeez. You have a great ear. That tone is spot on. Especially in the low end.
The Kemper continues to amaze . . great sounding profiles.
Ben you kick ass dude. Best guitar teacher out there! Thanks for all the lessons
PS: I have been listening to a bunch of demos of the Kemper, Line 6 Helix and the Fractel rack. I have to say this is the best sound I have heard of any of them period.
Ben, you are right best VH tones out there and you're playing is the smoothest out there
Jesus.... It's right on the money!! Outstanding!
You sounded just like Eddie! Really took me back in time.🔊💥🎸🇬🇧
It was this video that made me buy a Kemper and the TopJimi brown sound pack and I couldn't be happier!
Thanks uncle Ben!

Don't know if it's just you tube, but sounds like you should take some of the top end out of it. Otherwise it's a pretty good representation.

Bought this pack also and use it for leads almost 90% of the time, one of my favorite TJ profile packs.Nice playing brother
I love the 1984 tone where you can really hear the Plexi starting to die haha
I think it is also because of a more midrangy sound used on the record..

Gotta be the best “brown” sound copy I ever heard!!
Its insane how awesome this sounds! With my eyes closed, its totally Eddie Van Halen playing. Whoa!
Very impressive, may go and buy. Great playing btw, like it when players pick up on the subtleties of his styles that others miss.
Great profile sounds on those. Someday soon I will RTFM for my Kemper and get some of these!
Sounds just like the record it self. U did just wht u set out to do, u got the tone down to the Tee. Really good job
Wow Jimi. I'm a huge early VH fan, but you don't have to be one to enjoy these incredible tones.

I could have easily mistaken everything you played as the real thing. Holy shit.
My new Kemper isn't even here yet and i'm ordering this pack straight from this video. holy cow.
Thanks for the demo and letting us hear the tones from these profiles!
Sounds amazing. That Kemper is a lovely piece of kit.
Top Jimi nailed it again. I use his profiles 90% of the time.
Thanks Uncle Ben !! Great playing as always. I will be getting these.
as close to the records as ive ever heard!!!killer job!;-)
Awesome! This tone, these riffs (for eternity!), your playing...! Awesome, thank you!

Ridiculous how that sounds like classic Halen. I just learned about these kemper thingies tonight. Now I know exactly what my next new toy to buy
Well damn. Right out the gate it sounded spot on. Awesome sound, tone and playing. As always, thanks for sharing. Keep on keepin on Ben!
Brilliant. Those sounds are BANG ON. Show us more Kemper.
i just listened to you and van halen studio back to back, and i think the mod and delay etc effects and your playing are what make it sound so dead on
Trust me, it passed inspection AWSOME!!
You and the Kemper Profiler “ gel” very well. Rock on. The sound is great! I gotta get me one of those. 👍 Thank you for sharing.
Peace and love✌️
Ben, first time viewer on your channel. Just wanted to throw you kudos on a very impressive professional video. Keep up the good work!

Ben that's a great demo!!! Your playing is top notch as always.
I bought these profiles and I'm just blown away!!!!
Pickup sounds a bit twangy as is Eddie's, parallel?
Excellent sound + excellent playing = awesome!!!
Thanx for the demo. and great playing. bought the package. sounds and feels great!!!!
I have these profiles and can say they are truly great, and I don't even play VH style music.
Love the demo, that tone is unreal!!
Pretty much nailed the tone. Awesome sound.
Hey! is that a Kemper pick? Just got a Kemper, exploring all the possibilities on youtube.... woah!!! overwhelming!! Love it!!
Great job on the performance BTW!!! Love it!!!
That is so badass!!! I'm on the hook!
Great playing!
OMG they really sound authentic! Great playing too!
Not too sure if that's the right way to play "Somebody get me a doctor" but you still rocked it.
Damn, perfect Eddie brown sound.

bought it too - cheers - also bought the queen pack since i own such a Red Special clone - very good
huge eddie fan here and you nailed it my man very nice vid !!!

Dude! That combo sounds amazing even through this crappy cell phone speaker. Very nice. I love RG necks. Great choice in riffs too. 👍🏻
The tone for "Feel your Love Tonight" was perfect
Very nice.
At 0:20 - the face of giddy enthusiasm speaks volumes.
And also - that Cooper amp looks diy. Let's hear it some time.
Great sound and great playing buddy.
Wow!! That is sick tone!! And great playing.
Sounds pretty fresh, Brosephus. Keep rockin'!
Cool tone, its got that 60's growl with a modern shred to it.
