Will it be correct to assume that Protestant Biblical scholarship, whether liberal-critical or conservative, is much ahead of the Catholic scholarship? Catholics also have both liberal and conservative scholars now who produce study bibles and commentaries. But I think Protestant scholarship is higher in quality and volume compared to the Catholic one, at least in English language.

I appreciate your Study Bible Study on this Bible Study Bible. It's reassuring to know that study Bibles are now focused on studying the Bible and not on whatever they were supposedly doing until now. Great name there, guys. I guess "Group Study Bible" was too obvious.

The print is way too light. All the new bibles are terrible. Make a Bible with thick print so you can see it. Stop making cheap Bibles with lousy print. I have to buy old Bibles because the print ink is so thin on all new Bibles. Who is charge ? These Bibles suck.

I’ve bought lots of new Bibles and I’ve always been really happy with the standard. My only gripe is the incorrect textual basis for many parts of the Old Testament.

I think that depends on what you're looking for in a study Bible. Personally, I don't have much use for it.

Another excellent review, thank you Dr. Jones. I always look forward to watching. It looks like a beautiful bible, and I appreciate the simplified layout. If I personally was in the market though, I think for the money there are options that serve better for long term study.
Whatever gets one excited about getting into the word though..
    God bless you.

I really enjoy your channel. For one, you have a soft, soothing voice. Second, you really go into deep detail about the bibles you review. I mean, you don't just talk about the dimensions, the physical characteristics and the layout of the bible (one or two column, paragraph style or verse by verse, cross references and footnotes, typeface or font), you talk about the number of characters per line, the width of the margins- things other bible reviewers don't mention. And third, what I like about your channel is, you seem to stay away from reviewing premium bibles and focus mainly on bibles that most people can afford. Nothing against other bible review channels, like Tim Wildsmith, A Nickel's Worth Bible Reviews, A Frisch Perspective, Cat Woods, etc. Those are all great channels, but I wish there were more channels like yours that focused less on premium bibles and more on affordable bibles. There are a lot of affordable bibles online that are great and look awesome.

Thanks for that kind comment, J. Woodbury! I do prefer to review affordable Bibles. Although I own a few premium Bibles, I find that I rarely use them, simply because they are so expensive and I don't want to damage them. My goal is to help people find Bibles they'll want to use.

@@RGrantJones That makes sense. I think I would be the same way if I had any premium bibles, which I don't, and that's okay with me. I can't imagine spending $200-$300 on a premium bible, when my $95 Leathersoft KJV Center Column Reference bible works just fine. Of course if someone wants to gift me with a $200 or $300 bible from someone like, say, Humble Lamb", I wouldn't turn it down. I mean, I wouldn't want to be rude and hurt their feelings...lol

Without references I simply do not know how it could be termed a study Bible. I prefer side column references or center column references, the bottom referenced bible are appealing to the eye but not practical in usage. Good review.

This sort of remind me of the Open Bible or something similar to the Life Application Study Bible. I rather like it. The name is interesting to say the least, but can be a mouthful to say. I think the premise of this Bible is to let the reader do their own thinking as opposed to follow what some Bible scholar says. This way you don't grapple with denomknal biases or study notes geared toward shy particular theological standing. I prefer these types of Bibles.
For me on a personal note, my ideal Bible would be something similar to this. No study notes, just the full set of translation footnotes, a topical index instead of a concordance and book introductions. But this is not a bad idea in my estimation. Thank you for sharing this.
    P. S. I'm wondering if Thomas Nelson is shifting away from China to South Korea for their printing like Lockman Foundation seem to have done with the 2020 updated NASB.

"I'm wondering if Thomas Nelson is shifting away from China to South Korea for their printing." I hope they're gradually moving out of the PRC. The next Nelson Bible I intend to review was printed in India, like the NKJV Sovereign Collection Wide-Margin Reference Bible.

@@RGrantJones For me as a non American, it doesn't bother me one bit of the Bibles are printed in China. Americans seem to bothered for one reason or another, some even hypocritical in my opinion, but at the end of the day, these Bible publishers are Americans after all. As long as it doesn't raise the prices of the Bible to Jongbloed prices I'm fine with wherever they are made.
