  • Funny and powerful story by one of my new favorite AA speakers, Matt H. shares a message of depth and weight recounting his vicious struggle with alcoholism and the redemptive and graceful power of the twelve step process. A special thanks to Joy M. and Matt H. for introducing me to this awesome share. I love hearing such clarity and impassioned sharing about someone's experience. This is a MUST LISTEN type of share.
Matt has a great speaking style, he has a great sense of timing and wit. Also the way he articulates alcoholism and recovery is very powerful and engaging. The first time I listened to the tape, I put it on, and the hour and a half flew by, I was glued to my headphones. If you are looking for some awesome experience, strength, and hope that is sure to inspire and entertain you, this is the speaker for you!
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site - As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today's world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there!
Every tape is carefully selected to ensure its quality and that it is entertaining to listen to. You can trust Odomtology 12-Step Recovery Media to be synonymous with the best online recovery material out there. QUALITY is our mission. This is why we have such a large and engaged following. This was not my experience, but in some ways, it DOES parallel my experience.
The difference was, stayed away from opiates, meetings and not drinking was pretty effective for me for months and months at a time.
What finally stopped the relapse cycle for me was when I finally began to understand what “the work” of achieving “happy, joyous, and free” really was. That took way too many years, but I’m grateful I finally made it. It was disheartening along the way, but I got lucky. I refused to quit trying, despite failure after failure.
I’m so glad this lead is here and this alcoholic is as brutally honest and clear as he is. I hope other people can learn what they need to know from this share.
Thank you to Matt, and thank you to those who created this upload. 💜☮️

For people who think they cant stop drinking. I started drinking in High school every weekend. the first time I was drunk I was about 9. I drank quite heavy from 25 until 44 when I quit. That was the last sat of Aug.1985. I'm now 76 and have not even had a smell of booze because I have it carved in my head what would happen if I took one sip. I managed to hold down jobs etc(not all as I was fired more than once) as I would do a lot of sub-contracting work roofing. But in my drinking days I had quite a few dwi's, spent time in jails, My paycheck went to lawyers in order to stay out of jail. But what I want to say and hope I can just help at least one person, please quit drinking. There's just so much in life without booze. My thirty two years of not drinking started with the first day.

Start doing the work. If you don’t know what it is (the work) find a person who can show you what that is. THAT will start the process of recovery.
I hope you are still out there and still trying to figure it out.
It doesn’t matter whether you drank or not since you made this post. It only matters that figure out how to stay sober and achieve serenity today.
Good luck. I hope you make it. 💜☮️

I listened to this share almost daily. I ended up doing 108 meetings in 90 days. I am about to share in front of 100 people on Tue. 12 steps later, 7 months later I still listen to this before bed. It seemed so magical thinking of what it would be like to hold my 30, 60 days chip. I keep all my chips in my small jeans pocket daily. Thanks for all the inspiration.

The ways of the world, ignoring Creator doesn't work very well. It's not that God deliberately messed with you so that you will be so dedperately turn to Him/Her to help you. The world just looks like it fills you up ! It feels so sweet. But eventually it just doesn't end very spectacular. With close connection with God things move in much sweeter way.

I've been sober for almost ten years off of opiates and meth due to the realization that I need to stop and get my shit together. I had nothing to do that for, so I did it for myself and no god or fake spiritual maledy was my problem since Im an atheist. AA makes scientology look sane.
