Happy New Year Rich and Chris! Just wanted to say how much I look forward to “Overreaction Monday “, it is one of my favourite segments of the Rich Eisen experience
The NFL gets what it wants, Rams v Lions. I'm not saying the NFL is rigged, but the NFL is rigged. It's been sports "entertainment" for a while now. What is new is how obvious they are letting it show.
That means whoever is doing the rigging will have to make sure the Rams beat the Niners and the Bears beat the Pack, so LA doesn't fall to the seventh seed.
Rich as a Steelers fan, what’s gonna be frustrating af is going 5-1 in this division and missing the playoffs. If we have 10 wins and are 5-1 in the division and don’t get in, I’ll be frustrated off that alone. And at the same time, it’ll be completely our fault because of the NE & AZ losses. This week will either be a relief, or a grand disappointment.
Those two losses - at home, to terrible teams, in consecutive weeks - are kinda tough to swallow right now. Beat those two teams and the Steelers are 11-5 and they've clinched. And if the offense we saw the last two weeks had been also there for the second Cleveland game, they're 12-4 with a chance for the division and the No. 1 seed this weekend. But I'm trying not to think of that now. Just hoping that Baltimore rests everybody, the Steelers win, and then...well, whatever else needs to happen, happens.
The Lions had several injuries during that game: Campbell kept going for 2 because he didn't want to subject his guys to another quarter of wear and tear before the playoffs.
Florio made the point about Russ that a team only has to sign him to a veteran minimum at $1.21 million and force the broncos to pay the rest of his salary. A team could easily bring him in on a one year deal as a bridge qb and be cheap for them.
Next weeks overreaction, after the Bills annihilate the Dolphins, the Bills are winning the Super Bowl. Happy New Year, and good luck to everyone trying to get into the dance!
I think giving the refs in the cowboys lions game any kind of pass is insane. The lions lost squarely because the officiating crew couldn't do its job correctly. Putting any of that on the lions of Dan campbell is pretty wacky. I'm kind of stunned you guys were on any side other than, "Officiating crew ruined a great game by them not doing there job correctly."
I agree there is nobody to put that debacle on other than the refs, but it’s going too far to say that the Lions would have won the game if the refs had not screwed it up. Of the refs had told the defense that #68 was reporting eligible, that might have and likely would have changed how the defense covered the play.
Rich eisen is a waterboy for the NFL as a league and to some extent UM too. His opinion on the matter should be dismissed because it will always be the company line.
I have never seen so many backup's backups throwing 300-yard games. All the new rules have differently given the offense an advantage. Maybe it's time to platoon the QB position and pay for talent throughout the team instead.
Well as far as the Broncos go, Stidham threw for 224 yards and one TD. Which means he'd have to throw for 448 yards for 2 TDs. Maybe it's time to stick with a Super Bowl winner and not bad mouth him all the time. (Yeah, I know - he's moving on, which is ok.) At least they save all that money - oh wait - they don't.
Ravens fan here, Flacco is a dawg!! In my opinion the brownies are the only real threat in the playoffs but!...I love the thought. You can't make this stuff up!!😂😂
we keep hearing Campbell walked the ref through the play, but did Campbell really tell the ref what was really going to happen? which was: 1 OL is going to walk up to you, then another will come behind him, while a third guy jogs towards you at the same time, and it'll be the 2nd one that is really reporting? i think we know the answer to that....
I also think the strength of Dallas field goal kicker Brando Aubrey's leg had something to do with Campbell's decision to go for 2 pts instead of a tie.
Dallas has one time out. I’d have rather seen the lions time the game, and risk losing to the other kicker hitting having to hit a crazy field goal, than lose because the lions didn’t kick an easy point
As an Eagles fan, yesterday ruined my New Year. The team I watched losing to the Cardinals will probably louse to the Giants next. As for the post-season, my money's on one and done.
As a long-time Giants fan, I give you credit for your honest team assessment. It's definitely confusing as to why such a talented team could suddenly lose course right before the playoffs. For awhile it looked like it might be their year.
@@bluemoon-20 Except for one memorable year and a few hopeful ones, the Eagles have confused the hell out of me for 56 years. I left Philly 43 years ago, but I didn't leave the Eagles. I live in Arizona now, which made yesterday's game that much harder to watch.
Glad to hear you stuck with your team rather than your region! The Eagles still could right the ship by the playoffs; this season (along with all the injured QBs) is unique for how ALL the good teams hit a bad stretch. Like Chris Collinsworth said, the Superbowl winner is not so much the team who had a real good season, it's the team who gets hot for four games through the playoffs. Right now that looks like Baltimore.
I was paying attention to the Eagles their first 4 games or so and I could not believe they have the record they do now. They really were just winning somehow and were not that great of a team lol.
That's what you took away from the Orange bowel? FSU just said there is no use in even playing this game it means nothing. All there players were sitting or went into the transfer portal. If we had the same team that beat Louisville in the ACC championship game either that score would have been a lot lower or it would have been a competitive game. This was like if The Ravens played a High School team.
Respectfully DISAGREE that "Georgia stomping FSU proves that [having only] four teams [in the playoffs] was never enough. 1. FIRST, let me say that I agree 100% that having ONLY 4 teams in the playoffs was insufficient and wrong. There is SO MUCH quality and parity in college football that a playoff field of "only" 4 teams is inadequate. MANY more teams should be allowed, ESPECIALLY since major D-1 college football has basically allowed itself to evolve into a quasi-professional NFL farm league. That's NOT how even major D-1 college football used to be in yesteryear (even though certainly "some" players went to the pros). Now that D-1 is basically professionalized with NIL $$$ and the NCAA Transfer Portal eliminating players having to sit out a year, the level of parity and "quickly constructed" championship caliber teams DEMANDS a much deeper playoff field. 2. SECOND, the only thing U GA's unsportsmanlike "stomping" of FSU signaled to me was how petty, classless, thin-skinned, and vindictive Georgia, its coaches, and its players are. I get it. They're butt-hurt that they were left out of the playoff and unable to defend their title while other 1-loss teams got to go. I agree that it's unfortunate that 1-loss U GA missed the playoff cut by losing the SEC title game. But that's the way the cookie crumbles, and everyone knew that was a distinct possibility when there are only 4 teams artificially allowed. That said, there was absolutely NO NEED whatsoever for Georgia to "pour it on" and "show up" FSU so shamefully. FSU was SO depleted by both injury and players sitting out, that it never was a real contest from the beginning. So (to me), Georgia PROVED NOTHING about howe "good" they are by crushing a crippled opponent by a lopsided score. To me, Georgia looked terribly unsportsmanlike by the margin of victory. I realize not everyone will agree with my sense of honor and will think that teams should "run up the score" whenever they can -- that's their opinion (to which they are entitled, but it nonetheless personally disgusts me). 3. THIRD, what I'd really like to see happen is the elimination of these ridiculous "Conference Championship" games that provide a select few teams the opportunity for a "13th game," and INSTEAD create a substantial EXPANSION of the D-1 playoff. At the same time, I'd personally like to see a DRASTIC ELIMINATION in the number of all these crazy meaningless bowl games during the Holiday Season -- games that are all the more MEANINGLESS and WATERED DOWN (to the point of good teams in the regular season looking far more ordinary in the bowl game) because so many TOP TIER players with NFL aspirations elect to SIT OUT a non-playoff game rather than risk a significant injury that could cost them BIG $$$$ via lost NFL Draft position. Most players -- even those expected to play in the NFL WILL suit up for a playoff game wherein there is a chance/pathway to earn a National Championship ... BUT NOT when the bowl game is meaningless and is not part of the playoff system. I think the NCAA could have a Playoff Bracket of 32 teams -- take the "Top 25" Poll teams and then add 7 bids for a selection committee to tap late-season up-and-coming teams and/or teams from "lesser" conferences who still have had a great season and give them a shot at the tournament. The "first round" of the playoffs would be 16 games held during weekend that used to be the "13th" game of former conference championship games. Eliminating Conference Championship games would also sidestep the issue of a great team losing a last regular season game and/or conference title game (as happened to Ohio State and Georgia) and then suddenly becoming ineligible for the playoffs. The 16 winners from Round 1 would then advance to the 8 games of Round 2 played on 31 December and New Years' Day (4 games each day). This Round 2 could incorporate the MAJOR old traditional bowls (e.g., Rose, Cotton, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, Peach, Citrus/Outback, and Gator) to keep the bowl nostalgia alive, if desired. There would be NO GAMES in December between Round 1 at the end of November/very early December and 31 December to allow players to focus on finishing the first semester and taking final exams. Then the 8 winners would advance to Round 3 of the playoffs which would take place in 4 games during January 6-7. The four winners would play in the 2 semi-final games (Round 4) in mid-January, and the 2 winners that emerged would play in the College National Championship game (Round 5) during the 3rd weekend of January. Players' school work would not be impacted because only the 2 teams playing in the National Championship game would POSSIBLY be playing after the second semester had just started. The teams would also be seeded and paired off such that #1 would play #32 in the 1st round, #2 would play #31, and so forth. The higher seeded teams would host the games on their home field in the first round. In the second round, the highest surviving seeded team would play the lowest surviving seeded team, and so on. This pairing protocol would last throughout the playoffs. Round 2 would be at neutral site bowls, and Rounds 3, 4, and 5 would be at neutral site stadiums too.
Many thanks ... And while I'm at it, I think I'll take this opportunity to dispense with several likely naysayer objections ... (a) To those who would claim that "32 teams is too many," I would allow that, in "absolute value" terms of who is truly likely to be competing for and deserving of a National Championship, that MIGHT be a correct assessment ... BUT there are MULTIPLE other considerations that, upon deeper reflection, don't render an initial playoff field of 32 teams to be unreasonable at all: (1) The NCAA allows MORE THAN TWICE THAT MANY teams to have a shot at the National Championship in Basketball via "March Madness," so what's so terrible about giving 32 football teams a shot at the football title? Especially when ALL playoff teams will be decent at the very least. (2) Remember that one of the additional objectives of expanding the National Championship playoff is to eliminate the bevy of ridiculous, meaningless "exhibition" bowl games where players who have been key contributors to their team's regular season success suddenly "sit out" and/or "transfer" to supposedly "better" programs ... thereby rendering overnight the team that deserved and qualified for "bowl game x" to resemble NOTHING of the team's former self. Making these expanded games all PLAYOFF games makes it much more likely that the team's true capability will show itself because most all players WILL participate because they will have a legitimate shot at a title. (3) For the National Championship to be on a fair and level playing field, all teams who eventually advance to the title game must play the same number of games. This means that the playoff bracket MUST be either 4, 8, 16, or 32 teams UNLESS the NCAA wishes to "bake in" a certain number of teams that receive PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT via receiving a "first round bye." But awarding bye weeks is antithetical to having every team on a fair and level playing field. Clearly 4 and 8 teams are FAR TOO FEW. Arguably, 16 teams might well be too few as well, because many teams further down the Top 25 list are DEFINITELY CAPABLE of beating the "top teams." But 32 captures all of the Top 25 teams in the Nation pus a few others. (b) To those who would claim that "it's not fair" for a mere #32 ranked team to win a National Championship, I would state that the chances of that even remotely occurring is almost nil. Moreover, even allowing for the lightning strike possibility to occur, I would say this: (1) Even a 64th ranked (or 68th ranked play-in) team is NOT DENIED the opportunity to win a National Championship in basketball ... so what's so different about football that we can allow ourselves to become DOUBLY RESTRICTIVE that we are about basketball? (2) Moreover, any 32nd ranked football team [probably having as many as 3 losses during the season but also probably not as many as 4 losses and definitely not as many as 5 losses] that is able to defeat in succeeding playoff rounds the potential "murderer's row" of the #1, #2, #3, #4, and finally the #5 ranked teams in the entire Nation) FRANKLY DESERVES the Championship !!!! @@jeromemaida4933
I started following the Niners in 1980 with rookie Joe. The Niners had an incredible 15 years. I've lived in Baltimore all my life and of course the Niners got demoted to number two when the Ravens came to town. As long as it doesn't effect the Ravens I still route for the Niners. A Niners Ravens Super Bowl would be a lot closer the second time around.
I love this segment...probably my favorite on TV With one complaint.... Please leave fantasy football out of it. I'm not interested in how the football nerds did, starters, points, whatever. Stick to the games
Rich, c'mon. The Rams beating the Lions is no overreaction. You said the Lions were more impressive with their schedule. (Last 7) Rams 6-1 Lions 4-3 Rams beat Seattle, Cleveland, New Orleans and only lost to the Ravens after their bye in OT and after an illegal block to the back (uncalled) Lions beat the Saints, Denver and Minnesota. They lost to Dallas, Green Bay and Chicago. Tell me again which team has looked more impressive recently?
The ref wasn’t confused in Lions game. He announced over the loudspeakers that No 70 was eligible. Then they had an illegal formation, so put the right version out. Dan Campbell tried it on and it didn’t work.
Stars above, the Bills barely beat a reeling Chargers team and won extremely ugly against the Patriots with Bailey Zappe throwing three abysmal picks. And we're treating them like some superpower? At least wait to see if they beat the Dolphins in Miami before hyping them up, it's getting old... and even that wouldn't be particularly impressive considering the injuries the Dolphins have now.
It might be if you considered the injuries the Bills have had, ...losing Matt Milano and Tre White to season-ending injuries before week 6. Just saying, context is important!
It's never enough with you Bills bashers. Either they didn't win by enough or they beat an injured team blah blah blah. Miami would've already clinched the division if they didn't blow that game at home against the Titans. They don't play the games on paper. With all that said, Allen and the offense need to be way better or their season will be over quickly.
@@davidleary4524I don't hate the Bills, and I'm not a Fins fan either. I'm just saying that the Bills offense, while certainly good in large part because of Josh Allen, still has a lot of issues that require him to be superhuman when he obviously can't do that all the time (no one can). Allen is extremely talented and one of my favorites, but if they don't run the ball, he is forced to make predictable plays that lack efficiency. Right now the Bills defense is still elite, especially with Douglas filling the void left by Tre White, but I do think there are legitimate questions as to whether that can get them far in the playoffs. By the way, all of what I said absolutely applies to my team, the Chiefs, who are rightfully discussed by the media as a team that's extremely flawed on offense but is getting carried by our defense. I do not believe the Chiefs can make it far in the playoffs, especially against teams like the Ravens. But the Bills seem to be placed in a tier above the Chiefs when they have a lot of the same problems despite overall having better receivers. They both have an inconsistent run game that results in sloppy play calling, and while the Bills seemed to learn from their mistakes with that win against the Cowboys, they're running less again. So I don't have much faith in either team getting past powerhouses like the Ravens or even Browns on the road to the Super Bowl. But we'll see, it's tough to predict the future lol.
@@kchandaman3012 My point was every team has injuries, ...but the Bills had season ending injuries to their arguably 2 best defensive players, and this before 1/3 of the season even played out. Matt Milano was always key to our defense (defensive QB/Mike LB), especially after getting rid of Tremaine, ...and Tre White is only manageable because we happened to grab Rasul in a timely fashion. So neither team has an "injury advantage" really. Beyond that you make some solid observations. Both the Bills and Chiefs are having similar struggles, and the Bills are aggravatingly moving away from the running prowess and RB passing game that was lifting their offense whenever it was actually used. I believe Josh is still playing through his throwing shoulder injury from early on in the year, and that has been part of the reason his throws have been off in motion, touch, and depth. Other than that, both teams would benefit from their coaches focusing on getting key players involved in key ways, ...no matter the cost. Hope you had a good holiday week, and look forward to a Bills/Chiefs rematch! Go 🦬!!!

If the Steelers win on Saturday and the Colts/Texans doesn’t end in a tie and then the Jags beat the Titans, the Bills are either the #2 seed or completely out of the playoffs. Crazy.
Ikr, the Bills actually really need Baltimore to beat the Steelers this weekend or they might find themselves on the couch come week 19! Buffalo should TCB in Miami though, so I'm assuming that won't be necessary. Crazy how the seeding has morphed these last few weeks. This entire year has felt wacky in some intangible way...
if the Steelers and Jags lose before the Bills game sunday night. Bills are in the playoffs. crazy. Bills win Sunday night. they make the playoffs and win the division.
@@mickpratt8327 Spot on, ...I'll take a W in Miami for the lock, let's not count on ANY tiebreakers! Not to mention it's fun to smoke the Dolphins regardless, so... 🤗
I looked the rule up. It sounds like after the player reports the Ref then tells the Cowboys who the reporting player is. If that's the case why the tricks? And if that's the case why aren't people pointing out that its pretty easy to score when the other team isn't watching you?
Why isn't Purdy on the short list for comeback player of the year? Wasn't it just a few months ago people were calling it Tommy John and could he ever get back? Sets a new franchise record for passing yards thrown over all the previous great 49ers. How crazy is it that Purdy should be on the short list for BOTH comeback player and MVP...and possibly Offensive player of the year ...all at the same time.
Maybe because it wasn't Tommy John and he was ready to go in training camp. Maybe because Lamar Jackson outplayed Purdy and led the Ravens to a win over the anointed "best team". Maybe because yesterday Jackson led the Ravens to a 56-19 walloping of the 11-4 Dolphins to go 13-3 and clinching the AFC No. 1 seed while Purdy and the 49ers got to 12-4 and clinching the NFC No. 1 seed by beating the 4-11 Commanders 27-10. Maybe because if asked who the most valuable player for the 49ers is, most 49ers, fans, media, etc. would say CMC or Trent. After all, when the 49ers lost to the Browns it was but Trent and Deebo got hurt, and when they lost to the Vikings and Bengals it was but Trent and Deebo didn't play. The caveat for the 49ers since week 6 has been when the 49ers are healthy, if the 49ers are healthy, if the 49ers stay healthy. As if there aren't teams who have dealt with serious injuries all year (which the 49ers haven't) and still found ways to win. Can you even imagine what the 49ers 2023 season would have looked like if CMC had suffered a season ending injury in week 2, like the Browns did with Nick Chubb and who still got to 11-5 without him and going through 4 QBs?
I don't think the choice to not kick the PAT, was a bad choice. Worst case scenario your still the 3 seed with a team that is seething right now, Best case scenario you score the 2 despite officials and have a chance at 1 seed. To me that's win/win with all the bulletin board material you need in either scenario. My man Campbell was just doing his best Tin Cup impressions. GIMMIE ANOTHER BALL!!!
Regarding UGA/FSU, to me the issue isn't that Georgia got left out, even though they are clearly a top 4 team. The issue with that game was that the FSU players abandoned their team. I know it's "the system." But if that's the case, the system sucks and needs to be fixed.
@@chauncey33FSU took their ball and went home. If they wanted to make a point to the CFP committee, they should have played GA hard, maybe even shocked the world and won. Instead they rolled over and proved the committee right.
@@j.d.6915100% agree. But, it's also part of the CFB system right now. Players can enter the portal or declare for the draft essentially abandoning their teams for the bowl games. @@Josh_Stringer I addressed this, but probably not obviously enough. When I said "FSU took their ball and went home" I was referring to players that entered the portal since they couldn't play in the CFP. I don't think for one second that this many would have left if they had been in the playoff.
@@j.d.6915 Yeah, I was tracking with you and agree. I wish FSU players would have manned up and played vs UGA. Could have been a defining moment for them even if they lost and at least tried. But you're right. Had this been the CFP they would have stayed.
So no hyperbole intended…but this season has been the worst officiated season that i’ve ever seen….and I’m old. NFL needs to fix this horrendous and inexcusable state of affairs.
Everyone keeps leaving out that the Cowboys played defense based on the referees saying #70 was eligible, not #68. You can't assume that the result would have been the same if #68 had been announced.
I will say it again; your synopsized version of this same segment is better. Clearer, sharper and an appropriate duration. This 30 something minute version is irritating in some way I'm having trouble defining.
The Cowboy's curse has nothing to do with how Jimmy Johnson was treated by Jerry Jones. It has to do with how Tex Schramm and Coach Landry were treated by Jerry Jones.
@@jamesgoss1860😂😂 you need to learn how the penalties affected win % probability. The call against Detroit affected the difference in win probability at least 5x more than the call against Dallas.
All the commentators wouldn’t say it…I will: that coach is stubborn and arrogant. He just didn’t want to bother with OT. He just didn’t want the number 1 seed bad enough.
"BLACKBALL??????" so uninclusive, so un-woke, you should be ashamed and cancelled!!!!! I am sooooo offended and this makes people uncomfortable, oh how could you?
As for Detroit trying to trick Dallas, that’s not my opinion. Dan Campbell admitted it on Monday. “You’re gonna decide you’re gonna make 68 eligible and he walks over to the ref and then the ref stands over 68 before the play [and points at him] … you think you’re gonna be able to throw it to 68? No,” Campbell said.
I disagree. The Refs messed up early than that calling a tripping penalty on the Cowboys when it was clear it was on the Lions. The game would have been over at that point with the Cowboys winning. This coming from someone who dislikes the cowboys
Watch out for the Browns they're no joke. They're hot and they've got wins over the Niners and Ravens. I was poking fun at the Browns in the off season but they've been one of the better teams in the NFL this year. I'm looking forward to watching the third Ravens Browns game of the season.
There are so many moronic things about the NFL. Get rid of the ANNOUNCEMENT for ELIGIBLE. If a guy lines up as eligible, he's eligible. Period- the end. Also I had Cee Dee Lamb and LOST!
The NFL Week 18 headline we overreact to next week: After Chicago knocks Green Bay out of the playoffs we’re going to be saying that the NFCN coach named Matt on the hot seat is LaFleur, not Eberflus
The Packers weren't expected to be good this year. LeFleur wouldn't be on the hot seat either way. You might finally see Joe Barry get fired, but not LeFleur.
This could very well be the best game of the whole weekend. I was pulling for the Bears to get to 500 but will miss out. Also the Cardinals are not really pushovers either might throw another upset...
Dan kicked the PAT and went to OT against Seattle when he shouldn’t have. And he shouldn’t have against Dallas too, it was the right call, and if they couldn’t convert there they weren’t going to win, because they weren’t going to win in OT
That logic is ridiculous. They should’ve kicked the PAT and went to overtime, and despite you trying to predict the future, you have no clue if they would’ve won or not.
Going for it was the right call. In that moment you have momentum and the game on your terms. They were locked into the 3 seed you couldn't guarantee a win against the cowboys in OT or that the eagles would go on to lose to the cardnials
Agreed. Although I think kicking the PAT is the smarter move as far as winning the game, I think the intangibles are greater with going for 2, whether they got it or not. Now their playoff opponents may need to adjust their game plans because Detroit is a team that goes for the kill. The Lions players, I imagine, prefer to go for the win, and now they're going into the playoffs with a huge chip on their shoulders. Regardless of the spreads, they're going to feel like the underdogs. Compare that with the Cowboys, who honestly may feel deep down that they shouldn't have won that game. Idk. I think the momentum swings in Detroit's favor at the right time.
49ers Limping into the playoffs?? Our starters basically have the next 3 weeks to rest. We goin into the playoffs at full strength! Watch out, NFC. Keep underestimating!
If there is one reason I don't want the Steelers to make the playoffs, it is to see them forced to be on HBO's Hard Knocks. Either that or Art Rooney II will 'make some calls' like he did after 2019 to ensure they, once again, won't be. Even I can't see how after all the crazy national attention the Steelers got this year.
Lets not forget that the ref's also screwed up the tripping call on Dallas's previous possession. Had they not screwed that up, Detroit probably doesn't even get the ball back. So you cant complain about the ref's on that 2 point try and not mention them screwing up the tripping call.
Props to Rich for referring to the Washington Football Team properly. If they aren't the Redskins I have and will forever refer to them as the Washington Football Team. To make Phil Simms not cry, I also refer to the NY Football Team. I'm trying not to offend anyone.
Even though I agree that the Lions should’ve kicked the extra point and take their chances in over time, Dan Campbell should be very confident and proud that they defeated Dallas on the field, the officials screwed them but they won on the field. And yes, moral victories don’t matter… But this sure feels like a win.

He works for nfl he is their puppet
I agree there is nobody to put that debacle on other than the refs, but it’s going too far to say that the Lions would have won the game if the refs had not screwed it up. Of the refs had told the defense that #68 was reporting eligible, that might have and likely would have changed how the defense covered the play.
He works for the nfl network...all you have to know
They lost because they deserved it due to the blown Hendershot call.
Rich eisen is a waterboy for the NFL as a league and to some extent UM too. His opinion on the matter should be dismissed because it will always be the company line.
Dan Marino would kill it in Lafleur's offense. With that lightning-fast release and the Packer's speed. WOW!
Fastest packer team iv ever seen.
As a Michigander wtf were the Spartans doing with Reed. Dude looks like a stud in the league. Never seen him play like this in college.
@@joshlewis575 i think it's more the QB throwing them the ball
I have never seen so many backup's backups throwing 300-yard games. All the new rules have differently given the offense an advantage. Maybe it's time to platoon the QB position and pay for talent throughout the team instead.
Well as far as the Broncos go, Stidham threw for 224 yards and one TD. Which means he'd have to throw for 448 yards for 2 TDs. Maybe it's time to stick with a Super Bowl winner and not bad mouth him all the time. (Yeah, I know - he's moving on, which is ok.)
At least they save all that money - oh wait - they don't.
Ravens fan here, Flacco is a dawg!! In my opinion the brownies are the only real threat in the playoffs but!...I love the thought. You can't make this stuff up!!😂😂

LET'S GO BUFFALO!
@quinnjackson9252 yes. buffalo really should go ahead and go.
Campbell not kicking the extra point is MOOT if the game is officiated CORRECTLY …..that’s the only narrative
The Lions tried to cheat and got caught.
we keep hearing Campbell walked the ref through the play, but did Campbell really tell the ref what was really going to happen? which was: 1 OL is going to walk up to you, then another will come behind him, while a third guy jogs towards you at the same time, and it'll be the 2nd one that is really reporting? i think we know the answer to that....
You guys rock! Go Pack Go!
😂😂😂
I also think the strength of Dallas field goal kicker Brando Aubrey's leg had something to do with Campbell's decision to go for 2 pts instead of a tie.
Makes no sense because a FG would still have won the game.
Dallas has one time out. I’d have rather seen the lions time the game, and risk losing to the other kicker hitting having to hit a crazy field goal, than lose because the lions didn’t kick an easy point
Like the show, Rich. New sub. 👍
Georgia stomping FSU proves that four teams was never enough.
And FSU was correctly left out.
20 of their players boycotted the game
@@wingedbuffalo4670 I really like this idea.
BUT there are MULTIPLE other considerations that, upon deeper reflection, don't render an initial playoff field of 32 teams to be unreasonable at all:
(1) The NCAA allows MORE THAN TWICE THAT MANY teams to have a shot at the National Championship in Basketball via "March Madness," so what's so terrible about giving 32 football teams a shot at the football title?
Moreover, even allowing for the lightning strike possibility to occur, I would say this:
(1) Even a 64th ranked (or 68th ranked play-in) team is NOT DENIED the opportunity to win a National Championship in basketball ... so what's so different about football that we can allow ourselves to become DOUBLY RESTRICTIVE that we are about basketball?
(2) Moreover, any 32nd ranked football team [probably having as many as 3 losses during the season but also probably not as many as 4 losses and definitely not as many as 5 losses] that is able to defeat in succeeding playoff rounds the potential "murderer's row" of the #1, #2, #3, #4, and finally the #5 ranked teams in the entire Nation) FRANKLY DESERVES the Championship !!!!

As a Niner fan. Praying for a Niner/Raven SB.
The Flacco Browns's defense is leaps and bounds better than the Baker Browns's defense was.
Very true. If they had this defense they would've beat KC in the 2021 divisional round. Without a doubt.
I love this segment...probably my favorite on TV
With one complaint....
Please leave fantasy football out of it.
I'm not interested in how the football nerds did, starters, points, whatever.
Stick to the games
Rich, c'mon. The Rams beating the Lions is no overreaction. You said the Lions were more impressive with their schedule. (Last 7)
Rams 6-1
Lions 4-3
Rams beat Seattle, Cleveland, New Orleans and only lost to the Ravens after their bye in OT and after an illegal block to the back (uncalled)
Lions beat the Saints, Denver and Minnesota. They lost to Dallas, Green Bay and Chicago.
Tell me again which team has looked more impressive recently?
There was no block in the back 😂
The ref wasn’t confused in Lions game. He announced over the loudspeakers that No 70 was eligible. Then they had an illegal formation, so put the right version out. Dan Campbell tried it on and it didn’t work.
The Georgia stomping of Florida State proved one thing…FSU didn’t belong in the playoff.
Hey Rich, when will you be releasing Chris?
Hopefully we are being set up for another rematch where the Lions have a score to settle and send Dallas home in true Dallas playoffs fashion
@@seanguitarman5594 And they have Rasul Douglas now. Chubb got injured at the worst possible time. Your point?
Go 🦬!!!
Still can’t believe the Bucs laid that egg first three quarters. Makes me nervous to even beat the matters to get in.
Watch out, those Matters can get squirrely if you don't stay on them.
Regardless of the outcome of Lions , there needs to be a discussion. This isn't the only game this year with egregious calls from the Refs.
So why did officials not correct the 1 official? Seems fishy to me

I am actually hoping he goes to falcons.
I thought about this over the weekend as well and think it would be a natural addition for this team
It's not a over reaction to say both Harbaughs will when a championship
Georgia beat a practice squad FSU team. 20 players sat because of draft and transfer portal.
Stafford has no revenge factor against Lions. He asked to be traded.

Purdy handed week 16 to the Ravens on a silver platter. He cost them the game
@@joshcox8615I really think the NINERS understand estimated the ravens on both sides of the ball. The only player that was worth a crap was CMC
@@lindatinjum2944 Talk about overreactions.....whew. None of that rant has any bearing on the spirit of a comeback players of the year candidate.
I don't think the choice to not kick the PAT, was a bad choice. Worst case scenario your still the 3 seed with a team that is seething right now, Best case scenario you score the 2 despite officials and have a chance at 1 seed. Regarding UGA/FSU, to me the issue isn't that Georgia got left out, even though they are clearly a top 4 team. The issue with that game was that the FSU players abandoned their team. I know it's "the system." But if that's the case, the system sucks and needs to be fixed.
They said "snubbing us? Screw your bowl game ratings."
Might just be the home set up quality, but Chris sounds just a bit hungover 😂🎉
So no hyperbole intended…but this season has been the worst officiated season that i’ve ever seen….and I’m old. NFL needs to fix this horrendous and inexcusable state of affairs.
Everyone keeps leaving out that the Cowboys played defense based on the referees saying #70 was eligible, not #68. You can't assume that the result would have been the same if #68 had been announced.
Wonder who were the big winners in the Lions @ Cowboys game in Vegas???
I will say it again; your synopsized version of this same segment is better. Clearer, sharper and an appropriate duration. This 30 something minute version is irritating in some way I'm having trouble defining.
The only thing about Tomlin, was not playing Rudoff as 2nd string...
Right on Rich! Browns split games this year and Flacco knows the place inside out
The Cowboy's curse has nothing to do with how Jimmy Johnson was treated by Jerry Jones. It has to do with how Tex Schramm and Coach Landry were treated by Jerry Jones.
If the Lions had won, we’d be discussing how the refs called the Cowboys for tripping when it was Hutchinson who commuted the foul
That was much much worse than the wrong lineman being reported as eligible. The tripping call was absolutely nuts.
There was no tripping by anyone. No penalty should've been called on that period.
No, everyone would be talking about McCarthy's poor clock management at the end of the game
@@jamesgoss1860😂😂 you need to learn how the penalties affected win % probability. The call against Detroit affected the difference in win probability at least 5x more than the call against Dallas.

Ravens always play lousy after a bye. they will go out in the first round. this happens every year when they have a bye in the playoffs
Tomlin is real. Keep it that way. In 2024, its rare.
Watch out for the Browns they're no joke. They're hot and they've got wins over the Niners and Ravens. I was poking fun at the Browns in the off season but they've been one of the better teams in the NFL this year. I'm looking forward to watching the third Ravens Browns game of the season.
If the Rams loose and the Packers win, the Packers go to Detroit instead, Rams go to DAL.
There are so many moronic things about the NFL. Get rid of the ANNOUNCEMENT for ELIGIBLE. If a guy lines up as eligible, he's eligible. Period- the end. Also I had Cee Dee Lamb and LOST!
ATL should take a swing on R. Willson.
I can’t second guess Dan cambell aggressive play calling. He got us here. We should’ve won the game.
I hate the white if he kick the field goal.
The first one should’ve been “both Harbaughs will win a championship.” And that’s not an overreaction.
One of these days people, especially spoilt Steelers fans, will stop underestimating Mike Tomlin's ability to win games and make the playoffs.
1 playoff win in 7 years.
What a coach
When is the show coming back?
The NFL Week 18 headline we overreact to next week:
After Chicago knocks Green Bay out of the playoffs we’re going to be saying that the NFCN coach named Matt on the hot seat is LaFleur, not Eberflus
I got your overreaction right here
The Packers weren't expected to be good this year. LeFleur wouldn't be on the hot seat either way. You might finally see Joe Barry get fired, but not LeFleur.
MLF has been beyond excellent this year with a "rebuilding" youngest team in the nfl.
Bills got the East in the bag
Would it be a over reaction to see the browns and ravens in the afc championship
Anyone know if McCarthy owns a watch? If he does, hoping it’s digital. Also wondering how many times Jerry Jones has been called for illegal touching😮
Lets not forget that the ref's also screwed up the tripping call on Dallas's previous possession. Had they not screwed that up, Detroit probably doesn't even get the ball back. So you cant complain about the ref's on that 2 point try and not mention them screwing up the tripping call.
Who's more clutch? Stafford or Goff? Stafford won a Superbowl with the Rams, and Goff lost one with the Rams.
Props to Rich for referring to the Washington Football Team properly. If they aren't the Redskins I have and will forever refer to them as the Washington Football Team.
To make Phil Simms not cry, I also refer to the NY Football Team. I'm trying not to offend anyone.
04:28 No doubt because Goff is not someone you want to rely on a win for and he showed that with that awful pass.
nothing on fields?
Even though I agree that the Lions should’ve kicked the extra point and take their chances in over time, Dan Campbell should be very confident and proud that they defeated Dallas on the field, the officials screwed them but they won on the field. And yes, moral victories don’t matter… But this sure feels like a win.
