Sarawak premier is doing the right thing. It is short-sighted and backward for Putra Jaya to insist that everyone sends in their correspondence in Malay when English is so widely used. If it wants more people to use Malay, give them incentives to do so. For example, open up the job market in the civil service to more non-Malays. Then people will have a practical reason for improving their Malay language skills.

Sawarakians never afraid that their culture, beliefs and way of lives will be eroded if they learn other languages or attend other religious ceremonies, etc. They have full confidence in themselves, culture and their religious belief. Narrow minded mindset?? This has nothing to do with mindset, is about the national language, yes english is important as i write right now, but it comes to deal with the government, need to master the Bahasa Melayu too. Look at Italy and Germany, yes they can converse in English coz they realize when the technology evolve around the world, they have to master english to adapt with the world. Bahasa Melayu was originated from Malaya and it is the identity of the nation. No other country will dignify Bahasa Melayu. So, it is a hobson’s choice for Malaya. How about Bahasa Iban as the official language of Sarawak even though it doesn’t have much commercial value on international stage? That would be cool!

Time for companies to move away from Malaya. Companies rather write letters in English. It is easier and language training isn't much needed even though nations like South Korea, Japan and other non-English speaking countries also teach them in schools. This will be Sarawak's edge and the power shift of Sarawak. Who might know that Sarawak and Sabah will be the richest and most populous regions than Malaya with their continuous enforcement of the Bahasa Malaysia language.

Pengalaman 60 tahun dikawal dah cukup.🤭😎
