@@grainydaysss did someone break your camera?
@@grainydaysss Do you have any presets to get the same look that your photos have? I have a Sony a6300 and love your look.
@@prince2thethrone just search on youtube how yo get the film look
@@prince2thethrone go get a canon ae or Minolta x700 :)
These are the types of photography videos I like. No lofi music, no quiet boring talking, just epic fast paced tips full of jokes. Respect.
Sounds like every photo vloging channel on youtube. LMAO
Jason, my wife took the kids and my Nikon FM-2, i am ruined, great video. Liked and Subscribed
sorry about the nikon.
you have no wife so it’s hassalblad 500c time
@@jc854R no wife , great life
Dear Future Jason,
If you are watching this, remember Baxter is the backbone of this channel.
Chris Brown without Baxter, he is nothing. Without Baxter, we are nothing.
As always.
“How to talk to your cat about gun safety” got me rolling 😂
Instructions unclear ended up with Lasagna and it aint even that good
You've done the how, now you should do the why shoot 35mm film
Digital SLRs track your every movement. Not today big brother.
When time to get film scanned, it becomes a digital photo. The irony.
@@caldera878 It can also become a valuable image without ever becoming digital. Like a painting as opposed to a digital illustration. Film also survives as an object independent of computers, and can be re-developed in both digital and analog form.
@@waitwat1142 I can print my digital photos out and they'll "survives as an object independent of computers". So...there's that at least for my digital normie ass to not feel too bad.
@@imnottellingyoumynamedude doesn't matter anymore. everything tracks you.
This, I think, is the best intro to film photography video out there. The others are:
- Omitting crucial information such as how to load film EXACTLY and how to rewind
- Have less memes and chuckles
- Are basically clickbait for 'tricks and tips' they could have told in 10 seconds (really, FU if this is you)
This is jam packed full of gems. Such a good overview.
Thanks Grainydays!
finally i can be like the cool kids
No
@@kaurtora4619 why not
This is such an awesome comprehensive guide for beginners/your future self! So grateful my film hasn’t burst into flames yet, wow
Discovering your channel is the best thing to happen to me in the past 6 months. Thank you Jason ❤️
I knew all of that and still enjoyed every second
I love how many steps there are because they're all things to improve for next time. Lessons learned with patience!
Amazing humour and quite informative. Thanks for bringing a smile to a 35mm film photographer.
That poor tlr :(
5:50 was that a Muncey computer wallpaper tho
probably the densest and most informative video about analog photography. i wish this had been around when i started out!
I love this video! I wish it had been around when I started learning. So many other how to videos are slow and annoying to watch, but you kept it snappy which I appreciate. And as always the humour is welcome :)
this is a landmark video for film photography introduction.
thank you so much for creating it!
love your overall video presentation and humour too!
i've been looking into film photography for a couple months now, just a week ago i picked up a canon al-1 from a friend, and yesterday my first package of film came in. Now today you upload this. Impeccable timing
Perfect video when first learning any type of photography, especially film! Thank you for this!
i wish i knew this video when watching starting film photography because it’s very informative, short, and entertaining great video!
one of the best visual explanations of SS and Aperture.
Best beginner guide to film photography
This is really the best video i've seen about 35mm. Very clear, much information and funny to watch!
I can’t image anything being more entertaining while still being educational.
This might just be my favourite 'how to shoot film' video EVER!
Dude, love your videos. Super informative and your little jokes crack me up. Always enjoy watching them. Take care brother and keep that shutter firing.
i never thought Jason would teach us how to shoot like he does, very educational video!
my moms a photographer and she unearthed her old canon av/at-1s last week, this is great help for someone like me who has literally never touched a roll of film. thanks
this was the best video about shooting film I could find. I want to start shooting film next year and am looking for what to ask for for Christmas. your video is straight to the point, and I have a few cameras to pick from, as well as types of film. Thanks!
I need context on the dude smashing a tlr
It slept with his wife.
No seriously, I need to know.
@@enlig at first i thought the whole situation with that dickhead breaking the camera had been for real, but then i saw the comments and realised the joke
6min vid that probably took 6 days to put together. Man props and respect to you for your effort and creativity. I enjoy your channel a lot and learn so much. Much succes to you well deserved.
Rangefinders: am I a joke to you?
Wait... what video was that clip from where some dude in a suit threw Caleb’s camera into the ground?? 😂
That’s what I’m wondering!!
Same! I need context as well!
Well... it's been a while, but since I just stumbled over the same question in 2022... I thought I'd share the answer for the sake of anyone who's looking for the video after me. It's the "2019 Photo Challenge" video.
I had literally no need to see this video but I knew I HAD to watch it. Worth every second.
I appreciate keeping the continuity of the shirt in this and the original canon AE1 video. It’s the little touches...
Good video. Thank you for making videos of film photography in such nice way
This is sooooo polished, I love it
this is so so helpful compared to the other stuff I have read or watched where they just throw in a bunch of terms expecting us to know what they mean
You sir, just made the best introductory film photography video on RUclips... in a compact timeframe, while fitting in a s**tload of great comedy 😁 congrats
Just found this channel, and the way you speak is awesome. You are my hero.
Dude I love your videos so much! That's my kind of humor right there. And it's also kinda informativ yes.
Watching that tlr hit the pavement was painful god damn
I almost got an heartattack
Ayyyy Jason you just have the best personality of the photography gang
This is a masterpiece. hahaha Love your humor dude, but also some super good info as well.
This is what I call QUALITY CONTENT. 100% Subscribing!!
Been shooting film for 4 years now but still watched anyway, great video

Yo i just became a subscriber, you do good work and had me laughing with your mono tone but I am mono tone as well. Much love bro keep up the good work
This quickly became one of my favorite youtube videos!
Your book title @4:24 brought new greater respect. This was/is a good video... all info... useful stuff. I have watched tons of your videos.... but I just spotted this one.
The best video i have seen about this camera, thanks
Class act on how to narrate a topic, here take a star ⭐️
I can’t stop watching your videos. They go great with beer and pretzels.
A lot of people suck at making informational beginner tutorials. Great video. Well deserved like.
Ngl, that has to be one of the most helpful videos on RUclips!
I already knew most of this stuff but I had to watch so much content to get that info, this is such a great summary of all the important stuff! Why didn't the algorithm bless me with this video sooner?!
So short... But loved it! The beginners will learn something and the veteran will laugh. Simple. Baxter gang ✌️
this is the best video i have seen on that topic!
this was so good, so well done
This was too smooth Jason
Woah. Expensive production Jason
Love it. Love you!!
Your best video so far!
P.s. loved you in "Drive"
Best camera ever. Been a photographer for 55 years. And this best out of hundreds of cameras I have used. Nikon f5 is second best but I can’t carry anymore as it is more than I can carry weight

A genuinely excellent video. Simple, and yet I still forget it, so I keep coming back to it to bump the view count
Best. Tutorial. Ever.

My first film camera, the Canon AE-1 Program in black.. Great camera. Thanks for sharing
Shooting film is just so intimidating lol but I need to give it a shot if I want to learn even more about photography.

I dig that the Fuji blimp is below the shelves!
This guy just mixing photography and sarcasm in one video
Awesome
Seeing on RUclips homepage Jason has just uploaded a video about how to shoot 35mm film be like: oho boy this will be heavy *laughter*
that was a rad video, thanks!
I'd recommend a Nikon FM or FM2 as easy to learn and durable. I often see FE2's recommended too.
This is the best.
