    I am fortunate enough to have watercress growing all over my property since we have eight natural springs up out of the ground. I can confidently say that if you take the watercress and toss it in your fish pond, it will grow with every passing day. Just throw it in there. Watercress requires moving water so place it where it feels the waterfall

      Wao you must have a big land. I have never tried tossing it in the pond. However have grown successfully in pots

    I had seen your mini pond with the filter under construction, I like the idea of this floating vase you gave me a great idea for one of my tanks. Interesting how you arranged the plants and how the roots developed. Excellent thing for oxygenating and absorbing pollutants. Super work!

    Idea and challenge: Solar powered bug zapper brings in bugs from the garden and kills them. They fall into a pond and that brings in nutrients from the yard via the bugs. Minnows eat zapped bugs that fell into the water. Excess minnows are caught and added to the lower legume. Water cress filters the water and grows well from nutrients in the water. Lower down, water goes through a progressive water growth legume to further purify the water. Toads and frogs are attracted to the legume and they go trough out the garden to kill bugs, reproduce in the legume, eat some of the bugs attracted to the bug zapper light. Cat fish or other fish grow in the legume, eat ploywoggs, minnows. Water purified by water cress and legume go through a pebble and sand filter and is pumped up to the bird bath first, the water then goes from the bird bath to the pond, repeat. Fresh water is added and stale water removed as needed. Stale water is used to fertilize and water plants in the garden. Make this a work or art and with a balance to each part of the micro system so each part is not dominating the other, stagnated water is minimized. Now, who dares to try this? In theory, it should work, right? Any takers? This would be worthy of a Master's degree at a university.

    If fish are in the pond, is it still safe to eat?

    • @Fishaholic
      @Fishaholic  Год назад +3

      Aquaponics involves fish farming and growing plants at the same time. You can eat both as long as no chemicals are added to the water that is not safe for human consumption
