I felt like he could have dwelled a little bit more on the fact that it’s a 17.3 inch monitor. Most portable monitors like this are 15 inches. The extra size does make a difference. Yes it’s still portable but having the extra screen size is so much better.
No need to dwell,Asus portable monitors are absolute trash, way better options at a fraction of the cost, I've gone through 3 of them, all really bad.. cheap build and unuseable
this is a perfect monitor to compliment a mini itx gaming computer

Unfortunately, checking the reviews on amazon, it has been reported that there's almost no QA, and the screen indeed is fragile and breaks easily in bags (even when great care was taken)
It's a piece of overpriced badly built muck.. trust me I've been through two of them.. waste of money

Well to get full use of the monitor, you need 240 Frames per second as well. Otherwise its a waste of hz power. Since if you are running 120 fps, you will be running @ half the refresh rate of the screen. Most games do 60 - 120. So whats the point of having the monitor at this point in time?

It would’ve been the exact same as any other Asus 17” monitor tbh, just “portable”. Tbh if i were you I’d look at the portable gaming monitors from Asus, that have the built in battery
Skyreach S4 mini and Velka 3. Easy to fly with and you can put it in a backpack.

I use one of these with a mini pc in my semi truck, it was cheaper then buying a laptop with equivalent performance as I didn’t need a battery. Plus I get to use my nice mechanical keyboard
These could be a neat option as a small companion monitor to an UW or something like that, but the price makes that a little unreasonable.

I bought an off-brand version of this monitor that runs at 60hz for $300. Color is beautiful, monitor is lightweight, interface is simple and comprehensive, HDR is surprisingly good, and it comes with Freesync. Usb C power cable, mini-hdmi, and even a hard cover to protect the screen. Now my entire pc setup can fit into a medium sized backpack for easy and safe travel whether in the car or on a plane.
Edit: more brightness than the Asus one, and mine has a small vesa mount on the back to make it easy to mount at home. Also doesn't have a battery but can be run from a usb A port or outlet.

I had it preordered and the shipping got delayed twice by the shop, at the end, they had to ship directly from Taiwan and wait another 2 weeks and I said fuck it and canceled my order, I bought instead of a 34" 144Hz 3440x1440 1ms monitor for 20€ less than this, what a good decision that was.
Once amazon gets those no name ones with FHD and 120Hz IPS under 300 dollars this asus can die slowly...
This couldve been a great secondary display if it was 2k! Making it 1080p limits it really to only gamers. I would've loved something like this for video editing!

Why its selling out? 💡This is great for pop up stands at conventions and conferences for promotion stuff. All the start up entrepreneurs can tug it in and do product demos for their investors on the spot without hunting for outlets and cables. Pretty smart.

I have a laptop that can do 240hz even though it has a 140hz monitor I can use that extra mobility. Think about it as a PC you can carry in a backpack. The good thing is 1080p wont overwork my laptop :)

I HAD this monitor like 1 month ago, & only had it for like 2 months, & now it’s broken. Screen got smashed, & digitlizer broke, & guess what? ? As thin & small & not difficult this monitor is to damage,... Asus’s warrenty does not cover accidental damage by user..... Sooooooo, now I have to wait a month to buy another one. I wanted to cry when it happened.

I’m curious if you can use this as a camera monitor. I have a Sony a7 with no flippy screen. I was looking at spending $500 on a 5 inch screen. But a 17 inch would be much easier to check focus on. And because it’s still very mobile I could take it with me to video shoots. My question is, can it receive a 24p, 30p and 60p signal?

I’m really curious about the G-Sync compatibility. One review says that they couldn’t get it to work with their DP to USB-C cable, but that’s just one person with one cable.
I wonder if a good USB-C cable with DP support will work when connected to the VirtualLink connector.
I'm finding out if this monitor can work with a DP to USB-C cable connected to the GPU without having the virtualink port, do you have any news about it?
I used the cable matters USB C virtual link port on my rtx card to a Displayport monitor and it had no issues. But, when using the Displayport to USB C didn't work. I have only ever used Gsync hardware modules. So, I am honestly impressed with it's Gsync compatibility.

@@metalfrancesco It has a battery in the monitor that isn't necessary. But, to answer your question. No. You have to use a micro hdmi cable and separate usb C to power it after 3 hours its pretty good battery life lol. I saw some rumors saying might have usb c on 3080Ti. So, let's hope...
Thank you so much for the video. I've got a question: If you connect this monitor to your laptop via one USB-C cable, it transmits the audio & video signal, and also powers up the monitor all at the same time without impacting the monitor's performance (i.e. response time & refresh rate) in any way, is that correct? So if your laptop is always plugged in and charging, you never need to charge this monitor separately. You can just use it indefinitely. Can you confirm my understanding, please?
If the laptop has thunderbolt 3 rather than just USBC which most laptops do have , then yes it will and there is a setting to additionally make the monitor charge a mobile device , such as phone from the monitor . But if you wanted to use a phone it needs to have USBC 3.1 ( second gen USBC ) as USBC 1.0 will not deliver a video signal , even with an adaptor as the monitor itself will only support mini display wheather connected via the hdmi micro socket , or USBC . This is the biggest compromise of the monitor and something you wouldn't get on a desk top monitor . It's also a reason to be absolutely sure you that have a laptop or phone that will deliver video signal to it . It's probably safe to say that any high end gaming laptop made in 2018 and newer or most top phones made in 2019 or newer will work for video signal and audio will also work .
