- In the final installment of my 8N rescue, we have a lot of things to sort out. We had to first see if it will run, then we had to see if it would drive. then we had to fix stuff. wrapped the show up by seeing if it would work.....Stick around and find out what happened.

When I was in junior high school we used to rebuild those old tractors and the teacher would sell them for other tractors and rebuild them for tools and stuff for the classroom. That brought back memories. I'm 60 years old now and still miss working on them

Good job. Handy size tractor similar to a Ferguson we used to use to haul a molasses trailer. Brush hogs are called slashers down here. Thanks for sharing the resto

Just watched all the videos on the 8N. They got better as you went along, you really had the footage and info dialed in on this one. Seems like you’re much more comfortable. I just got a non-running parts 8N (thought it was a 2N) and the clutch is stuck. Love the series man, keep the good content up!
i appreciate it very much!!! I’ve started revamping the channel over the last 5 months or so. tried to cut my video length in 1/2 and I’ve started focusing on quality as opposed to quantity. for the first 20 months i religiously did one video a week, many times this meant they were hastily thrown together and excessively long at the same time-bad combo😂 now i dont release a video until it’s reasonably watchable. ive been doing a video every 3 weeks or so, must have been the right choice because the channel is gaining ground. The 8n series bridged the old and new format. thanks for noticing!!!

concerning the clutch on your tractor,, sometimes if you start it in gear (carefully of course) and drive it around with the clutch pedal pushed in they sometimes pop loose if they are stuck to the flywheel. cycling the pedal while driving can help. maybe 50/50 odds it will pop loose. just be careful because you aint stopping the tractor without killing the ignition or hitting a house or tree😂

Replace that rubber fuel line with a steel one. 🔥 Available from Yesterday’s Tractor website. They are already present but may require some tweaking with a tubing bender.

Looks like it’s ready to go brush hogging. Wow it’s a wonder that gearbox worked at all with all that water in it. Next tho, do you paint it or just work it? Amazing how simple those old tractors were made. Boy those fins make a racket don’t they? Imagine you’ve already got them fixed they would be pretty irritating to listen to while working the tractor. Stay cool till next time
Right now it’s going to work…. My property grows real fast for the next 3 months or so. Ive put the time and money into her now she needs to pay it back for a while. !!!
You're supposed to drain the rear end first. Then the hydraulic pop and then the transmission. That way, you'll get all the oil that water out.

You better get a front bumper on there or something across the front of that radiator or she won't have a radio left, Hitting that brush that. you're doing.
i found one locally from a real parts tractor, grille as well. honestly i thought that radiator was toast as rough as it looked. but it’s working fine and never got hot.

@@BrokenWrenches I grew up a John Deere fan, dad had owned and restored a 56 720 Diesel pony start, 59 730 Diesel Electric, and a 38 Unstyled A. Mom had to sell the two larger ones and I’m in process of purchasing the A. Been looking at these Fords and really liking the idea of picking one up for 3 Pt work around the 2 acre homestead. Watching your series has really given me the confidence that if I get one that is sound and needs a bit of work, I’ve got no problem digging in just as you did. It’s funny, when I was younger I never thought I’d get tractor fever like my old man, but here I am. Dad would definitely be smiling if he was around today to see my interest peaking.
@@BustinCasts same here. i grew up in Moline, Illinois the john deere world headquarters. i restored a beautiful 1953 model 60 about 10 years ago. i will post a few photos in a future video. my advice would be to buy a good manual and a couple books and go for it, wether its a ford, JD or whatever else. it’s pretty rewarding to get one working again. especially one like my 8n that had been given up on and sold for parts. hopefully it will outlive me. the 1953 and newer fords are ideal for 3 point work because they have live pto systems. this means you can raise and lower hydraulic stuff without using the clutch.

Who did you purchase the alternator kit from and do you recommend them? (did brackets come with alternator)
the alternator was an ebay purchase. standard 1 wire GM style and the bracket kit came from All states AG parts.
make sure you get the correct one. either front mount or side mount distributor.
