  • Pulled this ford 8n from a field where it had been sitting for 7 years with the intake and exhaust manifold left open where stuff could get in there. So lets see if we can get it running? #willitrun #ford

I really enjoy seeing young folks taking a liking to old tractors and fixing them up
It’s not about making money but joy of having a peace of America

I agree it's back when things were built right and with style. Not like today where everything is cheap and has no style to it.

Old gear requires the apparent patience you posses. No matter the outcome I enjoy watching you discover, re-asses and learn. That has and always will be the best way as mistakes teach us better than plain sailing. Look forward to the next installment. Your composition and editing development is coming along well. Thanks for making the effort to share.

Even if it didn't run as long as the engine wasn't seized it's worth putting money into.

Pretty amazing none of the valves were sticking looks like you scored a good deal there !
You know you might want to check if your using 12 volt battery and the coil is 6 volt it will eventually melt and it is best to install a resistor or you might have spark plug problems later but you probably know all of that. Once you get it running I would make sure she runs up to 160 degrees or better to help loosen up the rings and maybe some oil down the plug holes before you are ready to take that step but keep that old iron running 😀🇨🇦

We had an 8N growing up. Ours was a Funk conversion. They were kits by the Funk aircraft company, to power them up. I think they added about 50 horsepower, by changing to a flat 6.
I would like to see an article or three on them.

Was that a Six Volt starter motor turning to Twelve Volts? It seemed to really spin fast.

I had one very similar, but older (A 2N) around the middle seventies, and restore it to useful condition. I find you can STILL get most mechanical parts at Tractor Supply. so you might have a really good shot. They do have carb kits there, and carbs. They used to run chloride (salt water) in tires for added traction. You can still buy new rims for it, and of course tires. I bought a pair of new fronts from TSC at the time.

Yeah I have noticed they do carry alot for thoes tractors still which Is nice if you need something fast. I order most my stuff online for that kind of stuff since you can usually find it cheaper.
