    Just ran in them for the first time this morning! Felt amazing, a well balanced and smooth ride. Not the softest but in a good way. Appreciate the toa box. Gonna try the athletic Specter ones next

      Absolutely. I appreciate that the foam isn’t more of the really soft stuff that’s out there. The low drop and the big toe box in a shoe that is fit secure is a recipe made for long easy rides. Worked well for my midfoot/supination gait. Them Specters are zippy. I’m excited about the specter 2 😊

      Thank you so much I really appreciate that. I do try to provide good detail and information about these shoes plus my own experience in the package. Someone/team has put a lot effort into the shoes so I like to observe and comment on all that stuff. Have a great day

      I’ve got 2 pairs of the Atmos and one of the Specter. Mountain racer 3 is also an awesome trail shoe

      Wow that’s great. The Atmos is great. I have the specter v1. Slowly building up my Topo line. Love the shoes

    Great review, as always. The recovery shoe is still the gap in my rotation. The More v4 is near end-of-life and the Atmos is high on the list of replacements since I already enjoy both the Cyclone 2 and the Phantom 3. The other alternatives are the More v5 and the Ghost Max 2. This is important because much of the emphasis has been on the daily trainer and the super trainer, and not much emphasis on the recovery shoe; and as we all know, recovery is very important. Thanks, Jay.

      Thank you. I like this one a lot. Recovery and LSD are name of the game here. I truly enjoyed the Atmos and the midsole and 5mm drop was great. The real stars were the lock down, zero heel slippage and ballroom toebox. Probably going to bring this into the everyday lifestyle and work shoe. Thanks again

      This vs the ghost max would be interesting 🧐

      @@RunningNPAdventures The 5 mm is a huge selling point for me. At recovery and LSD pace, anything higher than 5 mm is way to aggressive for my mid-to-forefoot strike IMHO.

      Perfect for the midfoot striker

    Two questions: what does the numbers in the durometer actually measure? Does higher means stiffer or the opposite? Also, could you please give weight in grams and size in EU/cm for your international audience as well? Thank you :)

    • @RunningNPAdventures
      @RunningNPAdventures  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey there for the shore A durometer the higher the number the stiffer the material. I throw that in there to add a bit more data to the midsole. It doesn’t hold much gravity but could round out a subjective opinion about a midsole. Chances are if I checked the same spot 3 times I might get 3 different numbers but I figured a one time in each of the main spots works. Also I’m now adding global sizing and grams for shoe weights for my reviews. The latest videos have that. That was a suggestion from previous. I appreciate you watching!

    Hallux rigidus patient here. Do you think this is the go-to model for this condition? Versus the Phantom or Specter for instance.

    • @RunningNPAdventures
      @RunningNPAdventures  4 месяца назад

      Wow. That’s interesting you say that because I was thinking that. I would consider it as it’s a slightly more rigid, non bendy foam with a decent rocker outsole. Shouldn’t put too much pressure at the joint. That plus the toe room should help. However, given that the shoe depends on midfoot and heel lockdown and I’m not sure where you’re leverage point it, I’d wonder about downward pressure at the first ray. Either way, this shoe could be considered. I do know that Topo has a 30 day worry free try date so could see how it does for you. Hope this helps. Question for you: what shoes have worked for you in the past with the HR?

      @@RunningNPAdventures I live in Brazil where there is no Topo (or Brooks or Altra), and was looking forward to getting some on my next trip to the US later this year. For me, what has worked is a combination of a stiff sole on the forefoot (no bending), little to no toe spring (or else the toe gets extended anyway), and a roomy toebox because I have short toes, which makes my foot wider there as a consequence. Doctors here largely recommend Hokas, and from their line the Bondi has worked best (the X works best because of the carbon plate, it's super resilient there). The issue I've had with Hokas is the toebox, it's a bit narrow. Also, if the forefoot foam is too squishy, the ball of my foot sinks in and the toe extends anyway - which is why the Bondi X has worked much better than the 7s or 8s. That all being said, I found the perfect shoe in the Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 - the issue is that it's been discontinued, so I need to start looking for the next one. Since there's no retailer for Topo where I'm going, will need to rely on ecommerce, and I wanna get it right the first time around so I don't have to buy like 5 pairs at once and return a bunch.

    • @RunningNPAdventures
      @RunningNPAdventures  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for that. You could still consider the Atmos. Stiffer foam and lots of toe room. Vs HOKA, I hear ya. Even the Skyward has a small toebox compared to Atmos. The Saucony Hurricane (latest one) I haven’t tested but “heard” it’s a good replacement for those that liked the Shift. Another thing you could consider if you haven’t already is adding a Morton’s extension insert to your shoes. This would replace the factory insert. Helps with HR. Of course this is general and you could pass it by your doc first

    Did you get any arch pain from this shoe? I’m wanting to love it but it feels like there’s a golf ball in the arch?!?

    • @RunningNPAdventures
      @RunningNPAdventures  Месяц назад

      Hey there! I’m so sorry it feels that way. Dang. No I don’t have any arch pain. I like the prominent arch on the Atmos. It’s one of the bigger more filling arches out there. I just put them back on for a refresher. Really nice shoe if you can stand the arch if not there are lower arch, wide toe box options still out there. Sorry man
