Ngl his pre irradiated appearance in the movie was a little more scary than actual goji since he literally stared into the humans' eyes. The scene literally had me shaking in my seat.
This figure really does justice to one of the best intros to any Godzilla movie ever, although they missed out on a perfecttt opportunity to call him Godzillasaurus

I think the only reason he’s not called Godzillasaurus is because Yamazaki has been kind of teasing that Godzilla has a bit more of a “fantastical” origin to him. Likening him to a living breathing curse. So… I’m curious how he’d further build that up in a sequel, or two.

Also, my theory is that he was once a peaceful dinosaur-god living on and around Odo Island, but became violent once Imperial Japan started expanding and invading other places, including Odo Island. He was used so perfectly in the movie, and now I can get him in figure form. All we need is Monster arts, Super 7, or/and Hiya to make a figure of him.

Tbh this figure was quite a surprise never thought they’d do it nevertheless a great addition to the mms line. That opening combat scene with pre irradiated M1 was actually insane too.
That scene will remain rent free in my brain. Like holy hell man… what a way to start a new Godzilla movie! And just the fact that the weight of that scene sticks around the entire movie. Pure cinema.

Man I almost like parts of the pre-nuke Goji better as far as a design goes. Really loved the shape and proportions of the head especially the close-ups we got in the film, glad the figure turned out as good as it did!
@@butchersblade7068 Yeah it just feels like a lumpier Heisei design when this thing had its own vibe, even when he looks down on the men on Odo island I love the face that and something just kinda felt more alive. Knowing that the budget was so low, I'm wondering if that factored into using 'The Ride' Godzilla design as a base and that's why there's a slight disconnect between the two?
It was so awesome that they introduced this dino Goji as a jumpscare. Opening was so awesome and scary. I also like that this being a way of getting an original design for the movie that wasn't just a modified Ride Goji. And how he kinda resemble the Goji from that one cancelled American project from the 80s by Steve Miner, especially in the storyboard drawings. And to me personally, he also reminds me of Feraligatr from Pokémon. So basically, Odo Island Goji is a cool design.
It’s absolutely very very high up there for me as well! It’s going to be a hard act to follow in Toho’s case, which only makes sequel talk all the more interesting 👀
Interesting to see Minus One Godzillasarus be made into a figure. I manage to watch Minus One a couple of weeks ago and I love it. Definitely one of my favorite Godzilla movies ever made despite some things I didn't like. I still like it regardless. Can't wait to see what other Godzilla things will come in the future aside from the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire movie that's coming.
I’m sure Bandai and Hiya (amongst others) have more than enough merchandising planned ready for next year to eat our money up, something relentless lol Really hoping for Hiya to tackle this guy and MinusGoji at some point.
So as someone who tries to catch up with paleontology, I like to think that his scars are from others of his kind as actual carnivorous dinosaurs do have evidence of inter-species combat in the fossil record.
Having seen the movie 6 times yeah there are open wounds across the Minusasaurus. I assumed they were weapon damage but they look in some cases like claw damage either from fighting another one or a another different monster

What a magnificent beast!! I was so happy to see the Godzillasaurus again. I'll definitely try to get this figurine if I can find it for a decent price.
Man it took so long to get it in stock here. I finally got it for around $15-20. Imma apologize to you, Rob. I kinda feel you oversell the damn thing in this review prior. But now that it is in my own hand, it's just THAT good of a vinyl. Probably the best I own. I'm surprised with how much the detail pop in person, it felt like a braille even. Usually with vinyls they kinda toned it down, a bit more smoothen and dulled. Even fellow MMS like Servum got less pronounced details. But this one, man this felt like those old Bandai America vinyls I owned as a kid. I remember how sharp and pronounced the texture on their Mothra and Gigan that I own was. Gerard Goji is one of my fav now
I'mma be honest with you Rob, I bought this guy wanting to use him as a stand in for a MV Zilla, and it's works so well, so from now on this little guy is Zilla to me (and I mean that in the nicest way imaginable)

To be completely honest, they could have used this design throughout the entire movie, and I would have been giddy about it. I absolutely love this look for Godzilla, even more than his post radiation bath design. It's more primal and realistic looking. Can't wait to get this figure.

This is Zilla minus one cause he has slender body a bunch of angled dorsal plates on its back and with a more leaning posture this fits the description
Wow, I legit never expected them to make a figure of this form. I’m not upset that they did though, because this is personally my favorite evolving Goji. This movie just went way harder than it needed to, but damn it paid off in the end. The story, the characters, the action, Godzilla himself being such a spectacle, yet the focus is on what he can do not on the creature itself. Amazing film, amazing designs. Can’t recommend enough, and I may grab this figure because I love everything about this Godzilla
I've been avoiding this review out of sheer Jealousy, because it's easily my favourite from of him and I was not able to get it, but today I found a small import online retailer in the UK selling him for £34 and I folded and got it. Should be here in a few days, I can't wait. This guys appearance was the most terrifying godzilla had ever been. Usually I don't bother with Vinyls but the sheer amount of details really impressed me. Also, I'll be taking off the tag, I know yall will love that.
The way the minus one godzillasaurus moved was horrific a fast and aggressive killer I wish more versions Godzilla's were fast it just makes him more scary for some reason

Nah, it would look way too close to Zilla. Final form was pretty decent. Shin Godzilla is PEAK though

I can’t see Bandai refusing a SHMA release of this guy, I mean they did all the forms for Shin after all lol and many people call him Godzillasaurus, as far as I’ve seen.

With how Yamazaki is describing Godzilla in post release interviews, I dunno if calling him a Godzillasaurus or a living breathing Curse would be more fitting lol
But, at the end of the day, it’s whatever you want it to be!
