You know, it's pretty amazing how many reviews for audio interfaces I've seen that completely avoid discussing low latency performance with a contemporary PC or Mac. Like, almost all of them.
Hi, i recently got an Apogee Symphony Desktop upgrading from my 4th gen scarlett solo and i was wondering how i get actual input from my U87 Al through to the interface as when i turn gain up i only get a slight amount of signal when tapping the mic or something.

Great review and video! would you add a Cranborne 500 with the Apogee Desktop? I see some people do it and I wonder what's the purpose? Does it add more quality or is it for a different purpose?
I´m thinking of buying this interface and I see that you highly recommend it. But I have the doubt if with this interface I can use outboard gear using its two outputs individually. Thanks

@@yaseen_abbas if you’re buying a high-end audio interface for sound quality, which seems to be the case, the audio quality of the symphony desktop is simply superior… there is nothing superior about the Apollo, not even the plug-ins, but if you’re married to UA, then I could see point wanting to stay with them, as it would be a shame to abandon thousands of dollars worth of plug-ins - but even then - I’d still cut my losses; the symphony desktop is THAT good 👍

And I notice the small things. The only thing that really attracted me to the Apollo was the sound the plugins can generate. Seemed very studio quality like. Apogee Symphony converters are much superior to UAD... so much better sound quality!! and the new PREAMP plugins, PRINT fx channel strips are great!! just go for it
I love esoteric, niche products but holy fuck is everything audio wise so behind the rest of the world and so goddamn overpriced. .AND they have the nerve to give you guys the largest bezels ive ever seen. I can understand studio equipment being worth TONS especially because they'll last a lifetime and if you choose right you might never need to upgrade ,but christ ,his ugly hunk of shit costs $2000. Someone needs a beating. edit- i take it back. the plugins are cool as fuck

Yep, you need to utilise the ADAT outs
You could use one of the headphone outputs with reamp box!

That would simply be to add a few more preamps to your set up. Start with the Apogee and go from there, the pre amps on the Apogee are great!

Are there any problems with Windows systems?
We only used it with Mac unfortunately so couldn't say with certainty, but if Apogee say it's Windows compatible you can be sure it will be.

Just a daw, which can be free if you choose a free one. I prefer logic - amazingly capable and very inexpensive
