Good walk through. Im back in the market for an interface. I had a Twin back in 2019 so im a little invested in UA and im almost set on a twin or x4 but this Apogee looks slick. I had the first Duet and it was a game changer. Im just torn because for what you pay you dont get enough analog outputs compared to the Twin or for a few hundred more you can get 6 outputs and 4 inputs with the X4. I just picked up a TLM 103 too. I know that Mic + Apogee combo will be killer. Really torn rn.
Mike Sick!! What up fam! What did you choose? Remember the Apogee has optical out and in so you can expand it. But that means you gotta buy something else. I would get the x4 over the symphony (it’s hard to beat 4 inputs and all those outputs built in) but I would get the symphony over the twin. If you can’t decide, you can come to the stu one of these days and test them out.
@jacksp8de thanks for this comment. I think it addresses the issue I’m having atm. If I use the optical outs to expand wouldn’t I be introducing the color of said added device to my signal?
6 months later do you think the Symphony is better than the Neumann MT-48 interface ($1800)? They look very similar. Thanks for the review I have been with Apogee as long as you have been with UA lol.
@@JACØBSOUNDRADIO because the mt48 is better. it doesnt go through so many emulations and stuff but its just out the box better than most at that range and under, the conversion and capture grasp is kinda crazy tbh
Thanks for the info. I’m still trying to figure out my workflow for this interface. I am curious, how do you manage your set up with only 2 analog outs? Don’t your monitors take those two spots? How could I, mix with outboard gear, if the out I would use to route audio to a compressor is being used by my monitors? My I’m not fully understanding the roll control 2 plays in the routing. Any thoughts are appreciated
Your enthusiasm alone makes me want to buy this !! I have the Apollo Twin, and now I have no reason to not want it anymore, but thanks to you .. I now don't want it !!!! lol nice job ! you just cost me money .. Update: Mmmm so I noticed UAD are releasing bit by bit the native versions of the Plugins, so maybe just maybe all my purchased Plugins over the years will be Native, then I can move out of their ecosystem without losing all that investment, and buy this unit! mmmmm
What's up ZndBorn...quick question, I just purchased the Apogee Symphony Desktop...I do a radio show and I want to know is there a way to get more high sounds with the channel strip, maybe my adjustments are just way off. I can get the sound I want but only after post production...please advise.
If poss... I had a query regarding connecting it directly to NI Maschine?... ( I own Maschine+ & use it Dawless without a computer & only in Standalone... Which I love... )~ Do you think it would be possible to use the Apogee in this way for further processing of Maschine's group channel mixes etc?... ~ ( Hope this is something you could help with... )
Great video bro!! I have the Symphony Desktop and the Apollo X4. You’re right the uad plugins are hard to leave. I wish apogee had some type of auto tune plug-in that I could direct monitor at least. Sound wise I love the vocals I get out of the apogee but I gotta say I prefer the playback audio on the Apollo, it’s a thicker more “analog” sound. The apogee stereo field has tons of separation but the Apollo is louder and thicker which is good for mixing hip hop and pop imo i mostly use the x4 but I kept the apogee though because I do love it. And yeah that Knob is the best 🤣
😂 Yea man I keep going back and forth about that. Wish I kept both converters for that reason. Really I would pair the Symphony with something like a Burl B2 to get it all. 🤷🏾♂️ Someday. 😂
The display is small - you quickly get used to it because its so convenient. Their companion app (control center) for your PC covers everything you'd want to control
Apogee Symphony is an amazing interface. I had the Firewire and the Thunderbolt versions. They were amazing.. the DAC's are Quilty! I would switch back if I did not invest in the UAD X range of hardware ( I needed more I/O, you could not run 2 together at the time).. However, Desktop versions are great for small modular/travel setups. I never go anywhere 😁! I would point out that once your in an eco system, it is hard to break free from it. Do you think Apogee will release a satellite box, that will run plugins only? Or has the Apple M1 killed of DSP for good?
Bro you just got my sub. You funny slim. Im trying to convince myself to get this but I just can't get rid of these UAD plugins.. LMBO that mic is that a AAudio?
I really want one like this Apogee. The other one i see for the same price is RME UCx? And it has midi. I'm a hobbyist so I stick with Motu M4 with nice converters too. I can really tell between Steinberg ur22 vs Motu M4. It has this clear, no pillow on the speaker sound. Oahhhh this has dsp ? Niceeeee❤
You should check out the antelope audio zen q, similar specs, with more dsp & a larger plugin selection to compete with the apollo. Also its thunderbolt 3 (or usb 3) and bus powered, but you can still use dedicated power as well. I am aware that similar specs doesn’t mean they will sound the same, but I have heard countless positive review's. and in my experience with the “Zen - tour“ the conversion was phenomenal, and the preamps were super clean. & you can use vintage emulations to add the desired color if needed.
....and there are still people out here buying Apollos thinking they have world class conversion, calling it the Industry Standard, 😆 Apogee has a claim to that title waaaayyy before UAD.

Near zero if not actually zero

Wish I’d had this when recording at Orbit Sound.
Can you truly bypass the stock mic preamps?
yep
where can I listen to the beat at 1:50?
Did yours come with all the FX plugins or did you have to purchase those separately?

It might be the best sounding interface, but I’m not sure it’s the best because of the limited I/O. The rack mount should be better.
💯💯🙏🏾

🤔interesting, never thought to use it like that. There’s got to be a way to do it. Maybe someone in the community can chime in?
Great Video! Where can I hear the instrumental you used on for this video? 🔥 🔥
🙏🏾🙏🏾Working on it!
The right corner of the touchscreen has separated from the chassis and makes a sound when I touch the touchscreen.
😵💫
How does this compare to the Clarett 4pre?

@@ZndBornMixedIt if I was recording Beyoncé I def would hook the Elam 251 to a neve to a CL1B into the Apogee
@@jacksp8de you prefer the 251 over the c800?
@@jacksp8de plus doesn’t the pre amp emulators solve the ‘flat colour’ problem? Not even the neves ones?

why do I get a buzz through the line input?
😳
Can’t pick between this or the rme ufc 2 which one would u go for? Want to run a townsend l22 or wa800
The Symphony, the user interface puts it over the top
Do you still use this interface? Just wondering because I just bought it....
Love mine!😁
What adat expander would you recommend for it?
Aside from a Symphony I/o audient has a new Evo 16 interface that looks promising
hey man, isnt the display a little bit too small? Could I use my windows PC screen to update anything on that display as well directly in windows?

I had a Zen Go, Orion Studio and Pure 2 I had the same reaction in regards to conversion - I didn’t enjoy the interface or software nearly as much 😅
Fair enough, I kinda hate the software the comes with pretty much all interfaces. lol
What about the audient 14 MKII it specs pretty close and it’s only $300 no dsp extra plugin fluff to increase the price.

too complicated navigation. I need simple like Universal Audio volt 276
💯💯
Apogee is amazing.
I ain’t gone lie they did that screen like the 2000’s why so much meat around the edges. 🤦🏽♂️
I would say RME is the way to go
why?
I’m curious as to why too. 😂
RME clocks and stability are hella slept on. It's all quality and no gimmick like the rest of the competition.
RME Babyface FS and UCXii are superior....I could easily make that claim, its arguable but for some its not even close, RME wins.
RME with their Fireface series is not even close in a matter of audio quality.
No MIDI ???? Sorry no go!
USB Midi? thats coming soon.
😳
