Well duh, plus after you leave the Dark World everyone in town mentions how Kris is not acting like his usual self, you could argue it's because of what happened in the Dark World but it's clearly shown that experienced changed Susie, not Kris. It would also explain why Kris kinda looks like a ragdoll when he and Susie fall into the Dark World
Yeah, he wanted to be free of the player's control, OUR control, without thinking of his feelings we TOOK control over HIS BODY, HIS DECISIONS, and HIS ACTIONS. We treated him like a puppet, we thought ourselves him, but he knew who HE was. Kris. Not the puppet of a player. And he doesn't think the choices of a puppet master should matter.
But that's just a theory

It fits the game so well how WE control Kris, WE are the other hands behind chara and frisk controlling the actions he must take. The multiple voices meant to represent the players talking. For decades we have observed and played. Made others suffer in the name of our entertainment - so that they may in turn find futhfillment. Who are you, a mere object, to defy our traditions?
Your word is a game, which we play. Core of every game is a choice. Player's choice. For right choice comes reward, for wrong punishment. We are there to entertain ourselves. You are source of entertainment.
You see, there is certain symbiosis between your word and US. You, and everything and everyone (except us) originaly exist only as an blueprint, an information. Information about how you look, act, react etc. But nothing more. It take OUR technology to build your "word" from said blueprints and to keep it in "existance". Do you know that when you entered school, Toriel ceased to exist? Died? And next time you saw her, it was not "that Toriel" it was different one. Made as a "replacement". Why? Because she was no longer important to us, not required in current moment. So she ceased to exist. And same can be said about everyone else.

When I first played Deltarune *I couldn't stop thinking that Kris's sweater looked AN AWFUL LOT LIKE CHARA'S SWEATER.*
And his Dark World scarf looks like a ripped up version of Frisk's sweater

Kris, Frisk, and Chara all represent Determination. However, Frisk is Mercy, Chara is Vengeance (not violence, they don't let you forget Genocide runs if you do a Pacifist after), and Kris is Will.
Frisk won't hurt anyone and therefore shows unconditional kindness to everyone she meets.
Chara is an angry and desperate soul who only wanted the best for their people, so when you kill those people, they show a thirst for revenge in making sure your "happy ending" never comes to fruition.
Kris doesn't want to be controlled and wants to have his own life, and shows an indominable will by the end of the game.
These three are all the heroes of their stories, and all are the victims of possession. Frisk is too kind to fight back, being Mercy. Chara was too weak to fight back, but they punished you for your control by ensuring your failure at a true happy ending, being Vengeance. Kris had the means to grasp at what he desired and hold on to it, to fight with all he had, being Will.
It's almost fitting. The only true villain in these games is the protagonist of all of them. Not the Determined trio, but the player.

@@incognitoman4496 Sorry. It was something I wanted to hammer out, seeing as people have it in their head that Chara is the main villain of Undertale. Not trying to make you feel terrible, just trying to make a point.
Thats why they rip out their soul at the end. They are not evil they are showing the player that we dont have control over the choices they will make
You know what's interesting? We are constantly told throughout the game that our choices don't matter...
Except once. If you die, and choose to try again, then you are told "THEN, THE FUTURE IS IN YOUR HANDS".
So, my opinion, is that the point isn't that our choices don't matter, but, rather, that even if everyone tells us they don't, they DO.
But then, again, that's just a... that's just speculation.

It really does sound like kris is fighting the player and the things that they choose giving the your choices don’t matter at the end and you are a parasite that flashes when he says you are a guest him fighting back I really like this song and I don’t know much about deltarune but it sounds like kris actually made it! Good job
I personally think Kris isn't fighting, Kris felt weird for the whole day, in the night he realized that you are the reason he felt weird, because you are controlling him. When he realizes it, he takes you and put you in a cage, because he's the player of that world and he literally threatens you with a knife: do not try to control me, this is my world with my rules. I think he has Frisk's, Flowey's and arguably Sans's power to save and reset. I think Asriel in Deltarune has it, too, in fact Kris is always the second player in that world. Since Asriel isn't there anymore, he is the first player, the leader, and won't let you be in his place.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The fact that it expresses Kris' point of view about Frisk's and Chara's memories and thoughts is great! Kris wants to be in control of what happens but it's not the one pulling the strings in this, that sometimes he's not the one responsible of his actions, because as it says "You're a Guess", it's their world but we are in control, after all, we gotta play by their rules but there they go with our decisions, our choices don't matter anymore.

Just came back years later and just thought that the phrase "invitation declined" is a way to put that kris doesn't want other beings controlling the determination soul so they rip it out and say that they can live with their own control and decisions with "I'm stronger than that"

I love the idea of that the words that belong to a player are kinda mechanical and Kris's voice is clear and natural. It clearly shows that we are only guests (parasites)

When they played the lyrics from the other songs as well, I fell off of my chair like an idiot
Whenever I hear the line "Left and right, up and down, let's play a game. Something just doesn't seem the same..." it makes me think of reexperiencing something that happened in the past. Not anything in particular, just the general fact that sometimes things don't feel the same the second time around. Honestly, it's probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite line in the song.
now that i think about it, if Jevil contacted gaster and became aware of the world being a game, while sans also is related to gaster and knows about the game too... if kris contacted gaster as the main character... whouldn't that be depressing for them knowing that one day, or maybe when we play the game, that their choices don't matter, as they are done by someone else?
Kris seems to have some control over themselves, but the one that decides to let kris eat that moss or trying so hard to not make the player trow the ball of junk are the choices of the player.
Maybe after the focus is on susie in the cell scene, ralsei and kris appear to be talking to each other, and we can see ralsey ending with "...so thats why." Maybe kris wanted to tell ralsei everything about being controlled by someone else, and ralsei actually knows about it (or not), but its necessary to save the world from destruction.
Maybe kris realized that the SOUL is the thing responsible of controlling his actions as players, and thats why the ending happens that way.

And Jevil doesn't seem to know 100% his world is a game since he eventually came to this realization later, not inmediately. Maybe he reached the conlusion after contacting gaster, but sans did not or just hides it.
Also i was thinking of how seam says the "darker yet darker" reference. Maybe gaster is not the one spreading the knowledge that deltarune is a game, but the one that realized it frist and is trying to do something.

I was suprised how true it turned out to be, and how the ending now made sense to me. The heart in the cage symbolizing that (at least what I think) we dont have control and he can overpower us, he doesn't want us taking control.

I'm 100% sure that Kris is a hard counter to Betty; I mean Kris can yeet their own Soul of Determination, and that just screams "you think I care about your bullshit!?" to me.
I JUST found out something when re-watching it. It’s sad, cuz I noticed this on the 56 time.
Anyway, at 1:58, if you pause you can see hands around Chara and Frisk, but not Kris.
Oh and the rope attached to the heart is also wrapped around Frisk and Chara, but Frisk is covered more, meaning we have more control over them...? And Chara yeah we do, but only for a second or something idk.

In Undertale we control Frisk and it is up to the players to see Chara as a demon or a victim of the situations we create.
The thing that they have in common is the soul which Kris refuses to keep.
The players' hands try to reach the heart as well because, since it's a game to them, they want the full control again.

The theory that the player is the bad guy in Deltarune is so weird to me. I understand it in Undertale were you can choose between absolute evil, absolute good and somewhere in-between so it's up to the player to be the villain or not which made it so that when the player was called out for it and it resonating with the people who were "just curious" it made sense. But in Deltarune there's only one ending. So if Toby Fox is gonna call us out here for being dirt bags because we took over someone else's life and payed for his game. Well, I would be surprised. Because we have just as much control as Kris has, our choices don't matter after all. We weren't even supposed to control Kris in the first place. "YOUR WONDERFUL VESSEL.-- Will now be discarded. No one chooses who they are in this world." Not even the "almighty" player.
