Sorry mate the Santos is a fashion brand and watch, if you had a vintage maybe just maybe that is for watch people. Also do different watches apart from Rolex or Tudor. Nobody is interested in those brands, only people who are sheep, and making a channel talking about those won't grow because people are opting out of expensive fashion brands, You can't deny that Rolex are for people who know nothing about watches, and Tudor have just done the same
@@ChrisJones-ki2bx nobody likes rolex only the most popular watch in the world and the cartier santos is dope most watch enthusiasts i know agree. Stop hating
The clasp on your leather strap is the old version. The current clasp for the leather has 2 push buttons to release the clasp and the leather strap don’t fold over.
Your complaint at 8:00 about the amount of *force* you are needing to use to close the clasp is invalid. you are supposed to close the end without the tab first. I just tried one today and was instructed in the order - and the clasp closure is effortless when done in the intended way. You are literally FORCING the closure, and likely shaving off (albeit fractions) of material.
I have this watch and love it. I have no issues wearing this with jeans or dressed up. I have never worn on the tan strap. I did get a blue strap for it and think that looks great. Once I picked up the Tank Must in blue I put it back on the bracelet. Love the quick change system.
@@ikidowiki3877 I love the scratches personally, definitely adds to the character. There’s basically a layer across the bezel now of scratches that blend into its own surface. When it’s right out of the box it’s super hard not to feel scared but after the first few you realize how comfortable the watch is super thin and so comfortable. You can also replace the bezel at service for like $500 I believe.
@@ikidowiki3877I love the scratches personally - definitely was scared out of the box but after the first few dings you don’t mind them. You can also replace the bezel for I believe $500 if they really bother you. Mines created a layer of scratches and makes it look so cool.
Hey Hariison, I think you got an early model. The latest models have an updated leather strap that's similar to Omega's deployment system where the tail tucks under the strap.
Own it. Love the look. Barely wear it. I know it’s not a forever piece, so I’m nervous to scratch the high polish bezel and I can’t get a truly proper fit as functional as the bracelet is. Love it on paper, love it in photos, love it’s history. Just not on my wrist.
Sometimes I dont understand the dilemma with not leaning towards a dress watch or a sports watch. Doesn’t that make it a ‘smart casual’ watch that fits any outfit?
I own the medium and have a 7.5” wrist. It checked all the boxes for me, timeless, tech in the bracelet, dress up and down, jeans are fine as is a suit. Swapping bands and straps whether from Delugs or OEM are great for business travel. All with 100m WR! Yes it scratches, but it’s a keeper for me so doesn’t bother me. Also you can polish the bezel and it’ll be back to new. The only issue I have is how long term this quick change strap/bracelet system will be around for. I guess that’s why the bracelet is required for the long term usage if they ever moved away from the system.
I have had this watch about 8 months. Knock on wood, but I have zero scratches on the bezel. Not sure why that’s such an issue for everyone. Also, The way you opened the leather strap clasp almost gave me a heart attack lol. There’s buttons on the side! If there’s no buttons on yours I’m concerned it may not be the real product from Cartier.
I had the full intention to buy this but I had asked the salesman to size the watch for me before I paid. Unfortunately it didn't fit me well. It was either too small or too loose one link apart, which was surprising since its links are small. Anyway, never really appreciated a micro adjustment on a watch until that experience with the Santos!
Looks a tad small. I’ve looked at Cartier but I just can’t figure out how to wear it. Sport, dress. Casual sport, casual dress. Lots of options for sure.
I have this one, an old one in Or & Acier, it's an incredible watch! This is a unique Luxury Sport watch. The bezel is a scratch magnet, BUT the watch still looks incredibly good.
Have the large for my 7.5 wrists. Love it. Wear it when I go out for dinners, winter or summer. It’s perfect for a business casual look. Wouldn’t wear it with a suit and tie or with jeans and a tshirt. Have other watches for that. Bought the black rubber strap from cartier for it, looks good but too pricey and feels cheap. A grey leather alligator strap would look good with it. Overall love it and keeping it. 👍 👍
For your size wrists, I am sure the Large fits much better than mine or the reviewer. I also picked up the gray alligator for the Medium and it's absolutely perfect. I couldn't get the right fit using the bracelet, and it'll probably stay in my watch box.
You always have some of the best reviews. I had looked at this exact model for about 2 years and always said if I didn't get a DJ then this was next BUT I saw a review about a year ago where a guy had it for a year and when I saw the condition of the bezel it was over. He said he only wore it for dress and that most of the scratches came from putting his hand in his pocket. It was hideously disfigured. Cartier must use tungsten carbide for the polished bezel or I will never own it. They don't do a DLC on the medium and there's no way a large will fit me so as it stands the only Cartier I have any real interest in is the Solarbeat.
Hearing you describe the watches style, this watches style and silhouette, saying is it sports or dress. Downplaying the thing like crazy saying it’s not ‘something that is uniquely interesting and uniquely elegant in some way’ My dude I can’t stand to believe you are unaware the Santos history. You know when this was designed brother, you know how long this not ‘uniquely interesting and not uniquely elegant’ watch has been made and sought after? MY DUDE, some pin this as the very first wristwatch ever. What is more unique and interesting than being the first? Yet if it’s your own opinion what can I say, Your wild claims about this watch notwithstanding, this is an exceptional video. Excellent work and effort thank you
That’s a gorgeous watch, no doubt! I wear a suit about twice a year; day-to-day I’m in business casual. When I wear my suit I usually have my SARB035 on. If I wore a suit regularly I would consider this…it’s just a bit too classy for me to pull off on a regular basis. Also…there’s no lume, right?
It baffles me that Cartier or any luxury watch brand doesn't implement a scratch resistant coating at this stage and specially for the price. Traska, Zelos and many other microbrands do it for less than 1/10 of the price! This watch desperately needs that!
Very late to this video. I tried on the medium yesterday and was shocked by how cheap the bracelet felt. Very lightweight and the bottom edges of the links were really rough and sharp. Waiting to try the large to see if the bracelet has the same low quality finish.
The bracelets are basically the same in weight, though the large is a bit wider obviously. They do feel very light and they're very tapered, so it's preference on those. The sharp angles I also think is relatively standard, but you'll have to update!
Great review, thanks for saying it is a great watch, but not for me. Good point on the in-between watch type, you are so right, either lean heavily to one style vs. a watch that is the middle road.
It would be amazing if they could figure out some sort of hardness coating for that polished bezel. It’s the one reason why I’ll never purchase this model.
man i love this watch im currently saving up for this watch. would you recommend me buy new or look for used. i should say its hard for me to find used due to me living in alabama and there not be as many preowned sellers.
I'd agree on tne choice of the medium. I have the same wrist size and tried onb9th recently. Off the wrist the large looks nicer, but on my wrist the medium looked nicer, and I have no fear of wearing bigger watches.
I have 6.5" wrists and tried on the Large, and felt like I was sliding on Wonder Woman's bracelets. I wouldn't even consider it unless I had greater than 7" wrists. The Medium is a perfect Smart Casual to Cocktail Attire watch. The Large is confused as a piece with the design language of a dress watch in the dimensions of an over-sized sports watch. In other lines of the Santos, the "Large" is actually much closer to the dimensions of the Medium in this version.
I have tiny wrists and thought this too… until I saw the large in person and thought it was the small version! Even the large isn’t really big at all in reality
I own this watch in the 2-tone and I gotta say if you’re not going to be bothered by scratching your watch then I’d recommend it. At the end of the day you’re the one wearing that watch and not the other way around. I only got it for the name and design which works for me. It’s not the most bang for your buck watch out there by any means!
I was always concerned about how all that folded leather would feel. That their clasps take that much effort to close surprised me. I haven't had any hands on time with a cartier so I found these points interesting, if not disappointing.
Tried both medium and large on in my local AD .. For me it's the large but that's just because the large suited my rist size more .. The only thing that's put a stop to me purchasing one of these is the in house movement .. A channel I follow religiously had someone on the show slating the movement. You didn't mention anything about the movement of this model in your video which is shame ...
I love how these look but the screws…the DAMN screws. I just can’t. It’s not even and it bothers me🤣 I really like the Tank Française the all stainless tho.
@@HarrisonElmore I saw a computer generated version of the Santos with perfectly aligned screws, and it actually looks terrible. You would think the opposite... but to the eyes, it fails.
Really? I’ve never heard anyone comment on the movements either way. I will say one thing most people don’t know about this movement is that it’s resistant to 1,200 guass. That’s definitely something way above average!
