  • The mini saga of our fuel tank and its many leaks, plus.. how we fixed them. Hopefully told in a mildly entertaining way. The diesel tank is on our sailboat and had been a source of misery until recently. Let me know what you think.

    Good series of videos , showing a true representation of Cruising otherwise known as fixing boats in hot places! Please keep the polishing for the fuel and don’t end up with a pristine boat that goes nowhere! Good work both of you keep going!!!!

    Frankly this is a realistic video of what actually happens when you want to make a small repair on a boat, I wanted to put a new impellor in the raw water pump on our boat and 2 weeks later I had completed the total refit of the water system. Keep it up :)

    Hi I think the mechanical shenanigans are very worth watching and also it enables you get useful feedback and tips/tricks to sort things out. We all gain knowledge from just doing it and every ship is different; the one thing that is almost always the same is the lack of space in the engine room, unless you own a million dollar yacht that is. Keep em coming! Good job Karli, it always stinks but you're a trooper.

    Here's everything that I know about mechanics: My husband knows a lot about mechanics. He has one of those flexible, extendable, grippy things, too! 😉
    While mechanical content is not my favorite, I do find watching the problem solving very interesting. Your humor takes it the rest of the way so just keep filming what _you two_ want to film.

    Great video. I normally don't care for boat work videos - probably PTSD from by own boatwork, but your very british humor (humour) made watching quite enjoyable. Please don't start trying to please youtube, it will ruin the natural feel of you videos.

      Thanks, I think this might be close to the level the videos will stay at and we don't want to over think them. Hopefully you stick around for more of our boat maintenance. :)

    Great video! For me the more details the better. Also, some advice on techniques you used to get girlfriend to climb into a fuel tank. My missus would tear my throat out for just suggesting it. But we're old & she knows wot I'm really like

    Yes, more boring detailed mechanical nerdery. Even my wife (who is tiny and fits in my bilge) likes it.
    Also, envious of your bottom draining tank. We aren't allowed those anymore. (Says the man currently hand siphoning 27 gallons of 7 year old fuel through a dipstick)

    • @theincompetentcrew
      @theincompetentcrew  Месяц назад +1

      The bottom drain is a scary thing but useful. We were considering a smaller tank and making it the lowest point in the system with top only connections to keep in in line with newer yatch building regs but this works for now. I will try to add more details to the vids from now. Thanks for your input. :)

      @theincompetentcrew Oh I understand why they aren't allowed anymore... But I really wish they were ( for day tank use at least. )
