After watching this I decided to try it. I put chains on ever 4 Tracks, and the last was 5th track. Just the way it worked out on my tracks. (My Supertacks had pre-punched holes where I can put the bults though already from factory.)
So far it helps a lot in biting snow/ice while plowing. I will be trying it out in the snow/tundra this coming weekend. With it every 4 tracks I have between 4 to 5 chains on the ground at any given time.
I climb icy roads just fine like this. I used to slip/whip around on ice roads. Now I can control my spin/whip and not slide as much.
I can spin and spit snow a bit when plowing to much snow, generally still pushing snow with plow. Unless to much wet snow. Then I take a short running start to punch the snow to get momentum again.
    So far I am happy.

I did the same this wk. I love my 6x6 argo, but with the supertrack, it lacks of traction in steep path.. it really depend on the type of snow. I installed the same chains. It really seems to improve traction, so it is a go. However, it makes a lot of noises...even if they were tight. Please note, don't use 1 in bolt. Too short. I was not able to position them where i wanted because of this and was not able to use washers. Use 1.5in. Thx

My Buddy's got one and remember most of the places they show you are for t.v. they can get stuck, dont think they can't.

What a great idea! I hated the plastic tracks in mud or water. They didn't swim hardly at all.

Great mod! I would also like an update. Also any observations on general winter use.

I like this, but have one concern...snag. At least, where I go with my argo, there's lots of broken trees and branches on the ground I can forsee a sharp stump or branch snagging in the chains. I probably try it anyway.

What made you go this way instead of with the factory cleat kit? Please update once you have had a chance to get it on the ice. Thanks 1999 conquest 8x8.

Conclusions? I'm debating chains vs cleats for pulling my ice shack with my 6x6 with super tracks. Thanks

I think if I was going to drill holes for the bolts I’d probably just use the bolts themselves as a stud rather than using the chain. My only issue with my plastic tracks is that they slip on various terrane so a stud would be all I would need to get a bite on a log or chunk of ice, I’ve never had any issues in the snow unless I had an obstacle to climb over. The chains seem like it may cause more stress on the bolts and probably cause damage to my track.. let me know how your invention worked. Thanks

@@cocodrilo3975 If you live in a snowy location plastic tracks are amazing and cheaper, I bought a newer Argo last year and it came with rubber tracks. I’d say the rubber tracks are better but not enough for me to spend the extra cash. I don’t use tracks other than in the snow just cause of the wear and tear.
