Good review. One point though and it’s an important one. The e2008 has always had a heat pump, and it works pretty well. I’ve always had pretty good efficiency from my own car too, over 4.2 M/KW in summer and not a lot under 4 in the winter. For our own driving, our 214 Mile range has always proved very adequate for our day to day use. We’ve done three trips requiring charges on the way with no problem!
in fairness the Peugeot seems a bit quieter, but think the KONA is on 19" wheels which others say are not the way to go. We will see if the Premium can be got with 17" here in Australia. Still waiting for release date here.
Hi and thanks so much, just got home with my new Peugeot e2008 gt in grey, have been watching lots of reviews on them and your video told me more about the car I just purchased than all of them put together, so again thanks tons.
There is no competition, the Kona is better in every measurable metric. Stellantis were phoning it in with this platform. It's nowhere near competitive enough.
Thanks, a very useful video, the big differences for me is that Hyundai have fixed the big 5 issues of the old Kona - Road noise, Boot space, Rear legroom, Body Style and iPedal, whilst the e2008 just seems to be a cosmetic face lift. On the Kona, you missed the electric driver's seat that moves back to get in out and then forward to your remembered driving position. Note this isn't the memory seat option that remembers a couple of driving positions, but an N-level feature of all electric drivers seats. You also missed the individual front-seat climate controls, the sync button to the left of the climate display, but I'm not sure whether the base model gets that or just the Ultimate.
Kona would be my choice over the Atto3. I like what BYD are doing, but the Atto3 is just a bit bland, plus I think the Kona feels like a more premium product, has better efficiency and charging capabilities. Plus its a better car to drive in my opinion.
The Kona is very good but just too expensive. Some of the excellent features of the old premium spec have moved to the top of the range ultimate spec. That's a double whammy and is actually a sneaky hidden price rise.
I have a 2021 Ultimate model and to get the same Ultimate model but also add all the packs the match my spec it's another £3K on top! £38K for my Kona or £46 for a comparable new one...
I don't play golf so I can't really comment. Everyone has a different set of clubs I suppose, so it depends on yours. I am going to try and get a set to show the bootspace in future tests, so bear with me.
It isn't as far behind as you would think in the way it drives, but the Kona's better efficiency, better range, better warranty and its better practicality do give it the win. But the e2008 is still a very good car.
Thank you for the thorough test, presented as always in a pleasant, sympathetic way. In conclusion, I miss an important disadvantage of the Peugeot. A heat pump is not available. This will have a very negative impact on the driving range, especially in the winter months.
We have a 2022 e2008GT, really nice car but two little points that would stop me buying another (if the new spec one is the same) ,1 The range, in the cold weather its about 140miles with the climate set to 21 degrees auto, that means i need to charge every 100mile so i have some left in the 'tank' for family emergencies . and 2, a issue that boarders on dangerous i think, when i stop at a large busy roundabout the gaps to pull out are short and you need to go when you go , even in sports mode we find a lag before the power kicks in, rather like the old turbo lag in a ICE car. i feel uncomfortable in such situations, foots on the floor and still slow to take off, in fact on a dry straight road it is impossible to spin the wheels on foot to the floor acceleration from lights even in sports mode, my old 1.4 Vitara could do that . i see then new version has a better range (not by a lot really but worth while) and the motor is more powerful but still not sure about the acceleration till i try one. i hope its better .
@@AutoEV Sorry!! I wrote that before I had finished seeing the rest of the video. The information came at the end of the video. I wonder if it might be better to give the information before you start!!
I currently have an eniro 3 bought new with 2 years servicing in Nov 2021 for 37k. Both the Kona and the Peugeot are way overpriced compared to the new Tesla model 3 which is a much better car in all respects as long as you can manage without actual buttons and switches everywhere. For a saving of 3K+ and a better driving and more economical car I can live without buttons. A lot of legacy auto manufacturers are pricing themselves out of the market.
We went looking at both the kona and niro. We found the niro a slightly more " premium " look but you need to like piano black shiny finishes, the front seat mounted usb points for the rear seats looks smart. The kona looks a little more old fashion and " cheap" (screens aside) in the front, BUT to actually use, the kona buttons are so easy to use. If the kona had a nicer dash top material and slightly better door panel tops and arm rest material, it would (for very little more money to make) take away any negative thoughts about build quality.
Massive range disparity. (which negates slower charging speeds to an extent or possibly completely). Better rear legroom. Much better 0-60. Price almost the same when comparing similar trim levels. Better warranty. No contest. At all. MG, BYD, Kia will be competition for this but not the Peugot. (And the nail in the coffin, the piano keys on the Peugot dash look like they rammed in a 1970's cassette player they found in a junk shop)
The new e3008 should be more comparable, with bigger batteries. I’m just hoping that they migrate them to the e308/e308SW. I’d rather get back into a regular car size rather than SUV/CrossOver style. Easier on the dog jumping in the back too. Might replace eSoul next year, and might have to go Niro, or EV3, if Peugeot don’t get bigger battery into e308.
You can't even indicate properly with the new Model 3, especially when exiting a roundabout (i know lots of driver not indicating at all, seems Tesla is encouraging that), no dashboard in front of the driver, you have to move your eyes to the center screen even just want to look at the speed. Agree about they're over price though
It is difficult actually as we only have a GoPro with a suction mount. So if the car doesn't have a sunroof, I am a bit stuck really. I managed it in the Kona mind you.
All I can say is that it’s close, but no cigar, I’m sorry to say!! But there again, it doesn’t meet all my needs for a vehicle. I’m going to be touring and require camper facilities as well as everyday transport.
Having driven both, the Kona is in a different league than the old Peugeot 2008. The 2008 is a small car and you feel closed into that small car, the Kona, on the other hand is wider and longer and feels open and airy. Kona is faster and more responsive, Kona boot is wider, but the Kona software is next generation compared to Peugeot. The Kona is a 3rd generation Hyundai EV, The e2008 is 1st generation and it shows everywhere.
Having tested both and parting with £43'000 for the kona N line s ev, I know which one we preferred. The peugeot was a lot of style over substance and being 6 ft 5" tall the low steering wheel didn't really work for me, the pug seats are a nicer design and has better material choice, but for us the kona was better over all.
@@brianiswrong oh please cut the BS with the "style over substance" argument. The Peugeot has a lot of style and so much substance. I am quite tall, 6 ft 3" and the steering wheel worked very well for me, just cut the BS you are boring. Indeed you are wrong, and boring.

I have an existing e2008, 1970 model and very happy but would like a better range.
When you set adaptive cruise on its one pedal, great for 20/30 in town and will auto stop if the car in front does!
I haven’t notice a lack power even in eco on my model.
Love the cockpit and steering wheel
And the huge question is which one is capabale of taking a set of golf clubs and accessories?

kona all day👌 (e2008 owner here )😅
I'm biased because I own one, but I can't see the Peugeot coming close to the Kona tbh

indeed...
you have brain issues, then...
The Kona is Hyundai's 3rd generation EV (Ioniq & 2019 Kona, and arguably the Ioniq 5 before the 2024 Kona),The e2008 is Peugeot's 1st EV.
What about the ec3 in comparison?
Small supermini, not a crossover.
Quality information 👍

The suggestion is that UK weather is not cold or hot enough to need a heat pump, and it has been removed to reduce costs.

Two smart vehicles!! I know the Kona can be had electric, but can the Peugeot?
Both cars are available as either electric or as combustion engine cars. I did make that point in the video.

Really like the Kona, but as a Kia owner of 10 years, also thinking about Kia Niro EV. What do you think is the better?
The Kia. I’d choose the Niro every time. Great car.

I've seen several facelifted e-2008 GTs as low as 30k in the UK market. Why is there such a big difference compared to the official price?
Interesting. Are they definitely electric 2008’s?
Yes they are!
Aren't these c segment? A is city cars, b is small cars like VW polo, and them c is like larger golf + size cars.

hyundai kia ev for me hindustan south.
Peugeot wins hands down on looks
I really don’t like the Kona I think it’s got very US styling if that makes sense
Yes, I think I know what you mean.
10 second sum up Build quality……Hyundai it is then.
Anything over 39K takes you into Tesla territory with the Model 3 and Y... Both far better cars than all of these...
